Wow Scal. I literally thought of the EXACT same comparison but didn't think enough people would get the reference. Well done.
You clealry watch and appreciate televised poker as much as I do!
I'm still searching online for his exact words...something to the effect of "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride" type of stuff.
On the 2+2 forum, posters went bonkers. Along the lines of "This son of bit** wins the biggest and most prominent tourney in the world and then busts out like the other 8,000 people the next year and moans and groans about it!!"
Ahhh, the good old days of mid-2000's poker. PartyPoker please come back to us with your digitized mannequins!

Trust me one thing I can say is u guys do this for a hobby which is smart but when ur doing this for a career the pressure is just too much.
This line caught my attention more than any other. Many people thinking CG past years of success were a fluke, which they could be but, this statement above explains so much of his struggles on play selections.

The poker references are spot on. He's a typical degenerate poker player that would be rich and famous if he didn't lose to some 2 outer that one time. Only remembers the really bad beats, rarely acknowledges the lucky wins. It's not exactly like that with CG, but you can draw many parallels.
Poker players can be the absolute WORST at being objective about their results.

"I caught up on blankets and said how extremely lucky I got on many nfl games this year and the va tech Carolina win. But don't forget my hideous nba, college baskets and mlb beats. I would need like 20 more lucky nfl and college football wins. And I lost auburn +7 in OT to ark in 4 OT. How soon blankets forget the basketball beats as well in which Scal described as the worst losses in 10-20 years routinely happening on a nightly basis lol. It's like blankets forgets the 30-40 horrific basketball beats I had and think 5-6 lucky football wins offset that is so phantom. And I have had 5-6 miracle football wins no doubt just responding to blankets and the horrific bball beats mostly. And losing a +7 in college football OT happens once every 10 years
Purdue this year Labor Day weekend only way can lose is pick six. If he's tackled at one yard line will kneel. Pick six of course by Marshall. I'll go through my losing tickets if u want to hear more sadly there are like 15 bad beats off top of my head. Overall well over 50 and 100-200K in swings."

CG: You are incredibly out of your mind if you think your overall luck since day one is even in the ballpark of against your favor. Sure, you had some bad luck losses in basketball but your lucky wins in football FAR outweigh any of those beats against you. Not to mention, the lucky wins in football were for FAR bigger bet sizes than you had back on basketball.
If anything, luck has been in your FAVOR overall, not against. You cried about every little tiny thing that went against you in basketball. Were some of them bad? Sure, the Spurs was bad. But others you cried to no end about were pretty much being a 60% fave to the river and losing. That's not a bad beat.
100-200k in swings? Wow, just wow. Said it back on the first 5 pages of this thread but gambling simply isn't for you. Those who do this for a living (successfully) have the ability to look at everything objectively and take the good with the bad on level terms.
Point blank: you cannot.

"And again the only reason I even got into this today is bc guys on blankets keep harping on some lucky nfl and college football wins. Lmao I wish I lost all throw football games and didn't get fucked the 50 basketball and baseball games instead"
I give up. He needs meds.

college gambler,as pointed out by rangerz above,it is beyond idiotic to try and equate your bad luck losses with the good in the manner which you are doing..ya cant just look at it numerically and say-"50 bad luck losses,5 good luck wins, look there it is im terribly unlucky and cursed,boo-hoo for me".....can you not see the ridiculous flaw in that way of thinking??
it is about the AMOUNTS lost or won in each scenario and also HOW lucky or unlucky you actually were...as has been pointed out about,oh i dunno...10 gazillion times here already you over-react sumthing fierce with the most jaded, tilted bias imaginable any time even the tiniest thing goes against you on a bet...so in fact of those "50" horrible beats we can probably eliminate 40 or more strait off the bat when you thought you got reemed up the ar.se just because your team got up by 3 buckets early in the first quarter and then went on to miss the -2 cover after 3 and a half fu.kking quarters worth of play eventuate!!...yea,you had a cupple real nasty ones but nowhere near 50,thats a frickin joke.and your football miracle wins were on another level compared to most of those losses.
crikey di.ck,get sum perspective......sumthing im very interested to know-did you have all of this "horrible luck" in the past before you went to vegas??did you keep track of such a thing??.....awfully,awfully strange that at the drop of a hat you all of a sudden become the unluckiest man alive after doing this hobby for years and years, right??sum mite say statistically highly, highly improbable......must kinda make you wonder if maybe ya mite just possibly arent being all together objective about your view of things,huh??....possibly??...ya think???

LMFAO at the man the myth the legend, I present to you.....
HOLLYWOOD CG ladies and gentleman !
HOLLYWOOD- "I thought when u do good things like I have done karma comes around and helps u. But with me just gets worse. It's sickening and vile"
The one and only baronman- " YOU SPEAK ABOUT KARMA.BECAUSE YOU GIVE $TO DEGENERATE RELATIVES.YOUR NO MAN OF YEAR OK . DRUNK DRIVING, DOING DRUGS & MARRIED WOMEN, LYING."
HOLLYWOOD- "I'll go through my losing tickets if u want to hear more sadly there are like 15 bad beats off top of my head. Overall well over 50 and 100-200K in swings."
LMFAO i love how he just pulls random numbers out of his behind. Hes had 3 bad beats. The heat meltdown against the bucks, the cavs meltdown against the spurs, and the purdue pick 6. To feel like you were on the wrong end of 50 games is embarrassing. And those bets were for like $1,000 each, so yay what if you get those 3 wins you have a $6,000 swing. The three you had in the past month were worth over $17,000. Even someone as dumb as CG can realize that $17,000 > $6,000
Prime example of how dumb and subjective he is; that Marlins Dodgers game, the Dodgers were winning 2-3 in the 9th before Yelich hit a 2 run homer to take the lead. So he ignores the fact that he had to get a homer from a dude who hit 7 homers all year. How do i know all this? Because i made a live bet on the marlins to score in the 9th at +360. Steve Cishek was also the worst closer in the game last year. Dodgers to score was only +260 in the bottom of the 9th, so to feel you had a -5000 winner is just stupid.
You insult the gambling gods with your bullshit thats why you are a loser
I am definitely fading CONSIN tonight. Ill post as soon as i decide how much
On the positive side, I will definitely buy his book just so young kids everywhere can see an example of a dumb white man.

scalabrine, not to be too harsh on my antipodean cousins but in sporting terms(if we are regarding poker as a "sport" of sorts),australians are WELL,WELL renowned for being atrocious losers/poor sports and can often even be highly ungracious and disrespectful in victory.etiquette and ethics in the heat of battle has passed them by sadly ..its bred into them i feel.so many incidents of this in the history of competition between them and us.....love the fierce way they scrap and compete but do not appreciate how they conduct themselves on field.
hachem is an aussie i understand....i dont follow poker at all but googled him.
perhaps college gambler has a little australian heritage in him??he got that whiny gene down pat.

I dispute it because joe hachem seems to have won big before and might have talent. CG just
He's not a bad player! He played the final table masterfully nursing a shorter stack than most but to say "Story of my life..." after busting in a tournament right after he won $7.5 million, the biggest prize in poker history and the biggest prize an average joe can win after something like the lottery...Come on now Joe! Who you kiddin!
