0-2 Rough start with the Linette having some sort of eye problem getting trounced in the first set and then Tauson flopping in both tie breaks. Didnt have time today but will be taking a closer look at the Memphis matches tomorrow.

McNally and Wang have played twice this year, both on hard courts, both winning one match, and both going to 3 sets. Both are coming into this tournament in similar form and similar hard court records.   I think the over has to be the play here.

Over in Washington Bucsa is on a 6 match losing streak and is coming off a wrist injury and hasn't played since Roland Garros.  I'm not sure I'd take her even if she was fully healthy after injury.  Kudermetova also had a hard court warmup losing to Sakkari in Athens.  I think Eala can pull off the upset here but I see this going to three sets so playing it safe with the over

just watched a few games of kessler and wish Memphis reported unforced errors...feels like kessler has a ton.  Perhaps she can reduce them in set 2

First match on a new surface using the heavier US Open series balls. Causes problems for many players but some players just seem to handle the switch better than others. 

Zarazua made it to a W100 final last week in PA and I can't say for sure but my assumption would be they were playing with the same balls that are being used for this US Open swing. So she had a full week of match play under her belt with same balls, surface, and heat/humidity.

Look at Ashlyn Kreuger in her first set, balls spraying everywhere. She could barely find the court. Then after she finally settled in during the second set she just outclassed Boulter the rest of the way. But Boulter's level was just kind of the same throughout. She didn't really require much of a settling in period for whatever reason. 

It seems like Taylor Fritz just has this like annual ritual where he goes in front of the media after he loses and goes on a tirade about how bad the balls are at this time of the year. He explains it though and listening to him shows you how much of an impact they can have.

Also this is something to consider as we have the players coming off the bye entering the fold now, although one of the hallmarks of a top player would typically be adaptability but still could have an effect.

Leylah looked sharp against Linette and does seem to perform better in North America.  She crushed Eala earlier this year in Stuttgart but Eala has been performing much better since then.  I like this to go to 3 sets but slightly lean Leylah to win so gonna take the + money there

Absolutely horrendous. I have Leylah +4.5 games and I thought it was good. Too many unforced errors. Its so ugly to watch.

I really like Maya here. Despite her fairly weak season overall she has looked better her last few matches.  Liutova was impressive in taking down Ekat even before the injury happened and she can make this competitive. Maya's experience and improved form should win out in the end though.

Kalinskaya should be able to handle Tjen but I don't like the lines and odds that are out so I'm just gonna parlay her ML with Joint.  I don't feel comfortable taking the 2-0 but it is probable imo.
