Also tomorrow
Bucsa C. / Melichar-Martinez N ML
Doubles starts tomorrow, but taking this early, Bucsa and MM impressed last week when they won the double title in Mexico, without losing a set, and was very dominant in the final.
I think Bucsa loses the singles today, then she can focus only on her doubles where she has a better ranking.
They playing Kreuger and Hsieh, not bad players but they never played before and Kreuger has lost in the 1st round in doubles here the last 3 years, and she have a good chance winning her single, so I think she will be more motivated for that.

Our bomb plays 5-1 now, unfortunately Eala didn't show up. We hope Bucsa will keep her fine form in her double today.

Crazy only Khachanov that didn't win up 2-0 and 5-2 in the final set, had 5 match points…
Edit: Saw now Diallo lost 3-0, so that feels better. Not so close after all

Ebden/Thompson 2–0
We hit all our doubles plays yesterday—let’s hope we can do the same today.
We’ve got a new power couple on the men’s side:
Ebden: Wimbledon, Australian Open & Olympic doubles champion
Thompson: last year’s US Open doubles champion
It’s their first year playing together and they’re already 6–1 with a title in ’s-Hertogenbosch on grass.
Cerúndolo is 5–32 in doubles since 2023. He didn’t look great in his two singles matches—both went to 5 sets. Gómez has played a bit more doubles, but at a low level. I can’t see the Argentinian pair having any shot here against the experienced Aussies.

Krawietz / Puetz 2-0
The German pair reached the final here last year and are now both ranked inside the top 10. They’re playing against 43-year-old former #1 Nicolas Mahut (0–5 this year—I honestly thought he had retired) and Mpetshi, ranked #251.
Even if Mpetshi can probably hold his serve, I can’t see them breaking the Germans, and Mahut’s serve should give them plenty of opportunities.
Fun fact: Krawietz/Puetz are 9–1 in winning 2–0 in the first round of every Slam they’ve played together. The only exception? Here in 2023, when they lost in the opening round.

Mektic / Ram 2-0
Another new pair this year is Nikola Mektic and Rajeev Ram—two former world #1s—coming in with fine form after winning Cincinnati.
Ram has won the US Open three times in a row (2021–2023), while Mektic picked up the Auckland title earlier this year and has previous hard-court wins in Shanghai, Indian Wells, and Auckland. He’s also the 2021 Wimbledon champion.
They’re up against two clay-court players who have never played together before, which makes this look like a very tough matchup for the underdogs.
