A surface play against Zheng. Zheng's two big weapons are her serve and her forehand. Her serve works fine on grass but her forehand is severely degraded. The speed and low bounce of the grass prevent her from having the time needed for her big swinging forehand.
She is good on hard courts but her best surface is clay for the same reason. The ball comes slower on clay and bounces up higher into the strike zone which suits her big swing. Her second serve points won on grass are about 4 percent lower and her return points won are around 8% lower. She has an extremely difficult time winning return points on grass and generates very few break opportunities which is not a recipe for success in the WTA.
