I checked the result when I woke up and saw that Bogdan had retired in the second set. So when I logged onto the book, before doing the math, I figured I would have moneyline winners and voided game spreads. But the spreads turned out to be winners too. Since she retired at 6-1 2-0 Makarova had won exactly enough games to secure the +5.5 cover.

that doesn’t sound right. 99% of books will cancel that spread if match doesn’t finish even though it’s not possible to not cover

Well it is right. No book I've ever played at would void that spread. Not saying they don't exist but I've never played at one and I wouldn't. In fact FanDuel pays out bets like that on the spot. So even if the match continued the bet would be paid as soon as she won the second game in the second set. Same thing when totals are reached.
Would your books void bets on Bogdan -5.5?
