I took a beating in NFL and NHL Phily today was a huge play for me.  That was a nice chunk, and I am down for the week.  Wow, what the fck did just happen?

Anyway, let's keep our heads up and lets make a turnaround this week.

Wow, this is how you respond to being called a fraud all week?  By losing 43.6 units in one week?   and even losing two ML favorites over -300?  I must say sir, you are not helping your case.

Guess im sharper than I thought... Only took a 1 week... What is that now... -49.6 units for the day? Making the season -16.8 in 1 bad day... WOW

Not kicking anyone while their down... but it was inevitable with the insane unit amounts... Been there, done that.. Taken similar losses... but I dont disrespect or talk down to others while declaring myself a god.

I hope nobody here got hurt and lost a big chunk of their BR.

I don't play all his picks - just some - I do my own thing with the NFL and take his views into consideration with my other capping ways.
Me personally have nothing against SN and appreciates what he brings here
No matter what his agenda is - it doesn't effect my bankroll
There are plenty of people around I could discredit too but does that increase my bankroll in any ways?
If other people are going down in flames because of SN then that's their fault. We are all adults here right?
Props to you and others if you feel you are saving souls from SN's picks.
Yes I also see how he records his units
It doesn't bother me because I wager differently from what he states
If he is looking for a documented record to tout then those who want to make sure by investigating will see this thread and see how a lot of people here don't trust him neither
The point I think you guys are trying to make is to have a positive impact on other BR's and I don't see that impact
If so in a positive way then anyone who is thankful for being saved please stand up and publicly thank these guys for exposing SN for what he is - a fraud from ya'll say
    None of this effects me
Have you been burnt by SN - you don't want others too?
Just last week on my own accord I lost 40 units on Phi at Oak
    Oh well
Watch my NBA ML thread - you'll have plenty of trash to talk then
A lot of people do lay the lumber on ML's
If that's not your style - ok then
At the end of the day we all have to make our own decisions
This is a shrude business and newbies can only learn the hard way otherwise they will never learn at all
If they are risking their grocery money, than that's their own fault
Only risk what your willing to lose
Wise bettors have BR's set aside for betting alone
I can understand in you trying to help others out but no matter how much you try many more will still fall victim in this business

    mmm....

I can understand in you trying to help others out but no matter how much you try many more will still fall victim in this business

    mmm....

You know what is amazing?  SN went the entire baseball season posting hundreds of plays, and he never once posted a single unit next to his picks.  He simply made his picks, and then the next day posted a number that he was up or down.  On days when he was 4-1 he claimed something like +30 units.  On days he was 1-4 he claimed something like -8 units.  That went on the entire season and everyone followed obediently.  He had dozens of people chiming in with praises. Yes there were a handful of people who questioned the fact that he didn't post his units, but the followers far outweighed the skeptics.

Now in the NFL season he actually is posting his units for each game, and for the first time he is legitimately documenting his results.  Meanwhile he is being criticized heavily for it. I honestly don't have an opinion whether this is right or wrong, I just find the contrast between the two threads to be very interesting.

If you see my posts earlier in this thread you know how I feel about teasers, and you know how I feel about SN's history of documentation, however I would really enjoy seeing his results through an entire 17 weeks. This man claims to have an expertise and a history of winning, I would like to see what kind of season he can actually produce. Personally I have not followed a single one of his bets this NFL season and I don't plan on it going forward, but it would still be fun to watch.

SN, I am not sure why it is taking you so long to document the results of your release sheet this week, but I hope you plan on continuing this thread for the remainder of the season.

I am definitely his biggest critic.  I was a big critic during baseball season too although I didn't see his thread until the end.  I think my criticism is actually the same during both seasons.  I disagree strongly with the phrase "legitimately documenting".  I've criticized him for many different things but they all have the same theme.  I think he plays with the numbers.  With baseball, he was extremely obvious about it.  He has gotten slightly more subtle about it, but he still does it.

I would be all in favor of him posting a continued documentation, but that documentation has to confirm to GAAP or at least come really close.

I certainly hope it's not over either.  Everyone has bad days.  I've said that I don't consider all the unit debate so crucial, as I feel I'm capable of taking SN's plays and doing my own analysis of his unit management and also other money management studies I can do myself involving his plays.  I am impressed with his analytical baseball work, and have seen enough to be intrigued with his football philosophies as well.  Since I have very limited time to spend handicapping, the possibility I ever to could win big consistentently is remote right now.  I have always believed and still do that there are systems that could beat the games, but would take a lot of time to develop and implement. Since I enjoy what for me is a (expensive) hobby I have to try to find people to follow where I won't get hurt.  Yes I'm down for the season right now.  Of course if it were easy to find someone to pay to insure winning we'd all do that, but we know how easy that is.  I'm fairly new to covers, but I'm searching for a couple of people in each sport that would play a steady amount of games all season long and eek out at least a small percentage profit each season.  I consider SN worthy of that consideration, although I don't know if he will be posting the baseball system plays next season.  Hopefully someone else who is skillful and committed enough to accurately work his formulas will do that.

Hi everyone....new to this forum.   I have read SN's threads on numerous occasions and I understand the basis of the criticism......However, didn't he win 70% of his baseball plays?  From what I remember his plays primarily consisted of dogs, run lines and totals which inevitably avoided big ML favorites.  To that extent, a 70% winning percentage is remarkable.  Although his unit application/accumulation is ambiguous at best, that certainly doesn't diminish his ability to pick winners.  Moreover, at the very very least, he has provided all of us with the insight to develop our own sabermetric approach - an approach I was oblivious to prior to the baseball thread.  That, in my opinion, was the true value of SN's threads.

....why would SN bother to continue posting here, with all the hijacking that has been done with his thread lately. Not to mention all these no-lifers who have nothing better to do than try and discredit him and his work. Have his MLB and NFL picks been money? Yes. Has his bookeeping been shady? Who cares! Get a life people. He owes you nothing!

I think you are missing the point.  Did Enron make money?  Did Worldcom?  AOL?  Conseco?

You rely on people to tell you whether they made money or not.  That means that you rely on non-shady bookkeeping.  Its been stated repeatedly that SN's baseball picks were good and profitable, but has anybody actually done a line-by-line audit?

If SN would restate his results to put them in line with GAAP and make sure that all of the lines are in accordance with what was actually offered at the time, I might be willing to give him some credit for a profitable baseball season.

Frankly what I'm hearing sounds an awful lot like:

"Yes I know this used car dealer has a history of falsifying odometers and forging maintenance records, but this car has really low mileage and a great maintenance history so maybe I should buy it anyway..."

If you can't believe the accounting, you can't believe the bottom line...

Well this isn't his MLB thread. We aren't discussing his MLB plays here, this is the NFL thread, and even though the two threads are by the same SN, these are very very different threads. Not to many of his critics discount the fact that he won at an impressive clip in MLB (maybe not 70%, and the units were shady, but none of us discredit the fact he can win in MLB.) Yet this NFL thread is far from money. To call this NFL thread "money" is a joke, and you should probably try to review the thread in its entirety.

And I don't have any idea where SN is, but those of you saying he shouldn't post here anymore because there are too many critics, well why wouldn't he just come on, use his self proclaimed expertise to discredit our skepticism and criticism? It takes a lot more balls to come back after you lose big time to prove that you still can win, rather than keep coming back after winning each week.

It might be just me, but I don't think sN owes anybody on this website anything.  If he wants to post his picks that's fine.  I hope he does.  If he doesn't want to post his picks, that's fine too.  It just seems like he's put up with a lot of BS for posting winners, and then BANG! ! !  he has a bad day and here comes the shit storm.  It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't post any more.  I think he probably will, but either way is OK with me.

I agree that SN owes nothing to anyone.

The shitstorm, however, started way before his debacle this last weekend.

No, my friend you are missing the point. Enron,Worldcom, Conceco, were publicly traded companies that owed its investors honesty, when it came to their books. SN's picks and threads are not public entities, they are his and his alone. So he owes you, I, and everyone else reading this thread absolutely nothing. If you think he's a fraud, your entitled to your opinion. But to continue to publicly bash something you have no stake in is pointless, and i would think a complete waste of your time.

Freaky, i'm not saying he should or shouldn't post, but i wouldn't blame him if he left. His picks were doing very well, up until the last couple of weeks (yes i have read the whole thread). His ML plays have hurt bad the last few weeks. Personally, i dont tail SN or anyone else here blindly, but i do respect his opinions asi do yours. My point is certain people really need to get a life. The bashers and nit-pickers are doing nothing more than clogging up the thread for those who respect the opinions of SN.

But to continue to publicly bash something you have no stake in is pointless, and i would think a complete waste of your time.

Well, I think it does serve a purpose.  I think I am saving people a lot of hard earned money.  I feel like I'm doing a public service.  I'm analyzing something I enjoy analyzing and I'm talking about something I enjoy talking about.

I guess this brings up a different point.  How is this not a complete waste of SN's time?  What purpose does his being here serve?  To help and educate people?  Telling people lies and deliberately misleading facts helps nobody... Documenting a track record?  Last night, I set the world record in the 100 meter dash.  What good is a track record if its based on a lie.

There is only one reason why SN is here...He wants to sell a service as a tout.  He wants to con people out of even more money.

The bashers and nit-pickers are doing nothing more than clogging up the thread for those who respect the opinions of SN.

Endless, mindless cheerleading is not a waste of time.  Actual analysis of results is a waste of time.  Are you SN himself in disguise?

Seriously, this thread exists to evaluate this system.  What good is analysis if its all one sided?

I find it really notable that instead of actually responding to the actual critiques I've made, SN and his cheerleaders (ie his aliases)  decide to attack me instead.
