Game 1 @ Dallas (-10/198): 110-101 Final  Lakers SU - Loss  Lakers ATS - Win Lakes Total - Over
Game 2 vs. Houston(-6/192): 112-101 Final 2OT Lakers SU - Win Lakers ATS - Win Lakers Total - Over
Game 3 vs. Washington(-5/213) 147-141 Final OT Lakers SU - Loss Lakers ATS - Loss Lakers Total - Over
Game 4 @ Chicago (-6/205.5) 94-89 Final Lakers SU - Loss Lakers ATS - Win Lakers Total - Under

Lakers are now 4-20 SU and 8-15-1 ATS in games Lamar Odom does not start with an 19-5 O-U record

    * I made a mistake here.  I went back and looked at all games and the Lakers are actually 4-20 in games Lamar Odom doesnt start.  BIG difference there

    Hustle,

That sucked.  I was thinking about your bet as the game was coming to an end.  Oh well the LAkers will probalby lose again tomorrow at Minny.  Remember I need them to land on 43 wins to hit the middle of my season totals bet.  I'm hoping they keep losing.

Do you think G State is live tomorrow at Boston?  I think the oddsmakers have tipped their hands by setting a number of only 2.5 on Boston.

    Handy,

I disagree.  If it wasnt for Houston running out of gas in 2OT the team would be 0-4.  Without Lamar Odom in the starting lineup, this team is no better than the Charlotte Bobcats IMO.  They just cant get it done without Lamar.

I will say this.  I am impressed with the play of Luke Walton and Kwame Brown this year.  Along with Andrew Bynum they have definitely stepped their game up and the Lakers have a bright future ahead of them.  Once they get more experience and better perimeter defenders, they will be a much better team.

    Hustle,

This is a better team than last years Lakers.  I don't believe they can win many games without Odom because the defense is able to focus on Bryant and the rest of the Lakers aren't money players.  They have some good young raw talent but if Kobe has to defer this team is in trouble until Odom comes back.  We shall see.  I just hope they keep losing.

    WCM,

Let me clear up my "strategy" because people seem to have it wrong.

I'm not blindy fading the LA Lakers or fading Kobe Bryant or anything else.

I'm playing against the Lakers in games I dont think they win without Lamar Odom in the starting lineup.  Any team losing their best player is going to struggle but no team in the NBA has proven to struggle more than the Lakers in the past 3 years.

When guys say Im fading the Lakers because I "hate Kobe Bryant" I laugh.  The fact is that he is a great scorer but he's not good enough to carry a team mainly because his style of play just wont work in the NBA.  The selfish gunner... Similar to Allen Iverson and you see his career W-L record is barely over .500 (The only difference is Iverson is better than Bryant)

The FADE train will ride right along and I hope guys have been playing against the Lakers on the ML.  I think the Lakers' best chance to get a victory is tomorrow at Minnesota.  I dont think they will be any of the Eastern Conference teams at this rate.

The only regret is that Odom didnt go out when the Lakers were playing at home (Although I wish injury on no player)  because we would be able to FADE the ML at + money instead of chalk like they will be the rest of the road trip (Except when they play the Bobcats) but it wont make much difference in the long run because they will not have a winning record without Odom in the lineup.

Like I tell people all the time, the triangle offense is actually a "jr high level" offense designed by long time NBA assistant Tex Winter. The triangle offense is set up for "lesser talented" players that may not be great individual scoreres to get high percentage shots in a motion style setting and individual scorers are not needed (although can enhance it greatly) for the offense to be effective.

Nothing is wrong with the Lakers' role players other than they arent very good defensively.  Other than that, everything takes care of itself.

Did u see the second quarter when the Lakers went up by 10 when Kobe wasnt in the lineup. As soon as he came back the lead went back down. This guy just kills the triangle offense all the time by taking his stupid fade away shots or his long 3 pointers.

    Game 5 @ Minnesota (-5/196)

Lakers back to playing a team in the softer Western Conference.  This game is the lakers best chance of getting a victory on this road trip IMO but I wouldnt dare bet on that team with their best player still out with an injury.

Probably will play the under in this one.  Minnesota does play defense and has the personnel to force the Lakers' into bad shots.

Thats obvious when, due to only playing 3 minutes for LA in their game in Houston (0-2, 1 reb), Odom had absolutely nothing to do with LA pulling that game out, therefore meaning they are 2-3 SU this season without the services of Odom. But due to your desire to paint this team as useless without him, you do fudge and lie to try and represent their mark as looking as bad as possible sans that player (at 1-3 SU).

Any idiot can see through your lies. Or are you trying to convince anyone with a brain that the 3 mins Odom played against Houston in Houston won the game for the Lakers all by itself?

Time to expose more basketball nimrods. ( I was actually getting lonely because the haters and bashers cant talk anymore )

First of all, I said the record is for games that the Lakers play that Lamar Odom is not in the starting lineup which is 4-20 .1667 but you can add the victory if it makes you feel good.  5-19 .208 (LOL that REAL title contending talent right there)

And there is no need to paint the team as useless without Odom in the lineup because they are.  The PROOF is in the pudding... Conversely they are much better with Odom in the lineup and they are also better when Odom is in the lineup and Bryant is OUT of the lineup.

LOL... This clown is trying to argue to me that the Lakers should be 2-3 SU this year without Odom in the lineup (which is still garbage).

    BC,

You're a stats guy and I like the information you post regarding the STATS but when it comes to actual basketball knowledge and understanding of the game, you understand as much as as an ant understands how to speak English.

at the haters still trying to argue to me that the Lakers are even a .300 level team without Odom in the lineup.

Anyone else want to step up and get debunked like throwback559, dilbert, BetCrimes1984, lateshow, etc?

    Hustle,

The Lakers may have performed poorly last year without Odom but this team is better.  I have no idea what their record is going to be in all the games he misses but I can tell you that you and I were both pretty confident believing this Lakers team was going to lose a lot of games once they go out on the road.  They probably lose again tonight.  Not worth arguing your point about Odom anymore.  Either you will look good or bad depending on how this team perfoms over the next month or so.  I wouldn't spend anymore time trying to tell people that Odom is a better player than Bryant because you're NEVER going to win that argument regardless of how much information you think you may have to state your case.  I disagree with you but that doesn't mean I'm right.

    Handy,

The argument is not if Lamar Odom is better than Kobe Bryant but the performance of the team without Lamar Odom in the lineup and its almost (only because of lack of 82 game sample) a FACT that the team is not good with Lamar Odom in the starting linuep.  The PROOF is right there in front of you.

The only reason Im posting stats and not actual in game analysis (which I'd prefer) is because 90% of the people on this forum wouldnt understand because they dont understand basketball so Im posting stats which are more concrete and cant be disputed (which people are STILL trying to claim as insufficient)

I just wish the haters would be man enough to come in here and post a prediction on what they think the Lakers' record will be until Odom gets back.  I just hope clowns arent betting on them.  They are 1-3 or 3-1 ATS (depending on the number) without Odom so far this year and I dont see it improving anytime because they dont have any chemistry on offense and their defense is too bad to just shut teams down.

The sad part about it is that guys are actually CHASING on the Lakers' to win games...Sportsbook.com reports that the Lakers' ML is the public play AGAIN tonight.

Your pathetic point is mute. By your own reckoning, if Odom had got hurt on the tipoff of that Houston game, it wouldnt qulaify to be part of the record your keeping simply because he appeared in the starting lineup -, in fact, if the Lakers wheeled him out for just the tip off of every game they played, by your reckoning those games wouldnt qualify (such is the difference between 2 seconds & 3 mins at the start of a basketball game).

But of course if they did do that, and subsequently lost every game, guess who then wouldnt disqualify those 2 second appearances as nullfying including all those losses.

Keep fooling yourself. The Lakers are just 1 win short without Odom over this season's 5 games as they were over the last 2 season's previous 19. And in case your retarded mind thinks I dont think the lakers suffer for being wihtout him, you can safely shut that post away before you foolish post it - of course they suffer for his loss, just as they suffered for Shaq's loss when he was absent while still playing for them. Team's suffer for losing good players, gee, what a fucking brain wave that fact is. But you'll soon be disappointed expecting LA to deliver their previous winning percentage sans Odom. The fact his loss coincides with their first decent spate of road games this season means their record without him will get worse before it improves, so your jumping the gun is going to be deceptively backed up in coming games.

My final word is, please keep selling points You have a lot to learn.

He's back for more abuse.  DING DING DING

     - First of all, you meant to say my "pathetic point" (which no one can debunk) is moot (not mute).

LOL @ you continuing to reach to prove a point (which you cant).  This clown is mad I owned him like a pet animal during last year's playoffs when I told everyone the Heat would win the title back in April and he's still mad about it.  Your statements above dont merit a reply because you are delusional to even suggest that my theory means "The Lakers will win if Odom starts the game then checks out immediately".  Why you trying to make insane inferences about the theory? Like I said... Stick to STATS.

But of course if they did do that, and subsequently lost every game, guess who then wouldnt disqualify those 2 second appearances as nullfying including all those losses.

    - Like I said... Reaching to prove me wrong... But you cant.  You're wasting your time.

    - LOL... Actually they arent and after they go 1-5 on this road trip (which is my generous prediction) and look at a potential record of 1-8 without Lamar Odom in the starting lineup will you still argue that you are right?  Your arguments null.  They make no sense.

    - You're right... Teams suffer from losing good players.  But why is it NO team in the NBA suffers more from losing a player than the LA Lakers when they lose Lamar Odom?  And how is it that the LA Lakers record in games with Lamar Odom in the starting lineup (but Kobe Bryant is sidelined) is 8 wins better (in 3 games less played)  LOL...

My final word is, please keep selling points You have a lot to learn.

     - My final word is STFU and read my basketball analysis and you'll actually learn something about the game.  After it's all said and done, the Lakers will have a LOSING RECORD without Odom in the lineup this year just like in the previous two years... Too bad I cant say the same about games that Kobe Bryant misses.

    Regarding this cockamamie deduction...

Your statements above dont merit a reply because you are delusional to even suggest that my theory means "The Lakers will win if Odom starts the game then checks out immediately".

...you need to somehow try and buy IQ points.I suggested no such thing. My context was your non-inclusion of the @HOU game as part of the Lakers record because Odom appeared for all of 3 minutes. Your retort was merely because he appeared in the starting lineup (not mattering how long for), that that game doesnt qualify. Therefore I postulated the hypothetical reality of the lakers wheeling him out for tipoffs so such games, by your own reckoning (his being in the starting lineup), would not qualify to be part of this record you are keeping, such is the difference towards the final score that 2 seconds vs 3 minutes at the start of a game, makes. It, as a point, had absolutely nothing to do with any assertion of the Lakers winning if Odom checks out immediately, but does have everything to do with the absurdity of NOT incl. games (or specifically, here, a game) he started in, irrespective of how completely & utterly inconsequential that playing time was re: his impact on the game.

as for the other garbage, who went belly up ATS in the finals? (MIA went 2-4 if you dont recall) Who made money in those finals (even killing on the MIA ml in live betting in game 6)? who made money through out the playoffs as an entirety, and as Dallas killed ATS in every series  guess who tailed them through out? Of course your memory and desire to bring up such facts doesnt extend to your posts, it couldnt. It wouldnt paint the picture you're trying to sell (As for being wrong about Dallas winning the title, who cares. I get plenty of results wrong - I'm not someone claiming to win 100% of my bets. I have no personal interest in the Dallas Mavs winning anything, except where it concerns me making money, and my parlaying of my Mavs future into Heat ml live bets in game 6 made for a very nice suck-out of being wrong on that point).
Nothing hides the fact that thats all smoke & fog designed to cloud the issue at hand (your fudging of the lakers SU record without the significant services of Odom), which my hypothetical example destroys in 2 seconds flat (about the time it'd take for Odom to win that jump ball).

And as for this brain wave - the Lakers record will be worse without Odom than with it - what a joke. I could go to a mental hospital, grab a basketball fan, and they could tell me the same thing. This is about how the Lakers "are going to be horrifically worse" without Odom, a perception born of your hate of Kobe. Handy's perception of the Lakers beats yours with this bias, hands down (excuse the pun).
The Lakers were in their first season sans Shaq, down the qualifying stretch for the playoffs with their new team, when Odom - as a crucial piece to their puzzle - went down. The majority of those games that forge this record took place then, under unique circumstances. Since then this team has been to the playoffs, and that experience will serve them well - as it has already - with him out. So far nobody has put this team away without Odom (their biggest loss being on the current West Conf champs homecourt, and even then wasnt by a DD margin - wow thats really a bad look, not) - within their 1st 5 games of losing Odom 2 seasons ago, they recorded losses by 21 points (9 pt road dog, same as for that Dallas fixture I just mentioned) & 10 points.

Grabbing back into the past, bringing up grammatical errors (indeed, moot was the intended word), all to deflect present statistical fudging on your part. God, you are hopeless.

I wont be shutting up anytime soon.

OK.... normally, I don't give a damn about this guy.... but he's obviously leading a few down the wrong path. First of all, why would you take advice from someone who boasts a 2-40 record (excluding his non-posted 500-0 record)? I mean you could teach your dog to piss on a sports page and he'd probably pick better.

Secondly, why take advice from someone whose only mission in life is to "expose" Kobe? He is obviously infatuated with him and can't go one post without mentioning his name. He's also using irrelevant stats from 2 seasons ago..... the facts he's with-holding is that Caron Butler (2nd leading scorer behind Kobe) was also out injured. That's 2 out of 3 top scorers out. Then they switched to the triangle offense late in the season, which confused many of the new players, especially Chucky Atkins who had been playing well under Rudy's system.

Anyone that caps based on hatred of one player while using irrelevant stats deserve to go broke.... and believe me, this guy is flat out broke.... unless he's been fading his last 40 picks.

But the rest of you guys should know better.

    Hustle,

I honestly believe you should shut up regarding this argument.  You can't win.  Plus no matter how much you might know or not know about the game of basketball it's very hard to apply it and win at handicapping.  If you want to believe that Lamar Odom not Kobe Bryant is the key to the Lakers success then so be it.  I don't have a problem.  I think you're dead wrong but that's just my opinion and I don't have a tunnel vision.  In my opinion the Lakers wouldn't win 30 games without Kobe Bryant and would be right there fighting for one of the top lottery picks in the draft.  Now we will never know unless Kobe gets injured and misses the rest of the season but if I were you I would shut up and let the results do the talking.  The sample is way too small for this year so why don't you let it play out and talk to us when Lamar comes back from injury.  You can't win this argument with closed minded people.  I'm not saying you can't be right but I have a hard time believing over the course of a season you would be.

No surprise with this one.  I figured the Lakers would win the game going against another softcore Western Conference squad.

    Handy,

This isnt about handicapping.  This is about applied basketball knowledge  (which people around covers dont understand- especially dilbert, BetCrimes1984, etc) and that is why Im here to show guys the light (Just like I did in the playoffs last year)

You can believe what you want, you have the right to your opinion but like I say, the PROOF is what happens on the court and the team is not that bad (well defensively they are) but on offense the triangle takes care of itself.  The reason they are so bad without Odom (Now 5-20 SU) is because they lack playmakers.  Luke Walton would count but he doesnt have enough talent to be a full time facilitator of the triangle and that is why they miss Odom more than any team in the NBA misses a certain player.  Not that hard of a concept to grasp but when you talk to brainwashed fans with limited knowledge of the game, its hard to drive that concept into their heads.

As far as BetCrimes1984 and dilbert... Their posts dont merit a response as everything they've posted has been proven wrong already.

dilbert claims the lakers were "learning the triangle" in 2004-2005 yet averaged over 101 PPG

dilbert claims the lakers were "learning the triangle" in 2005-2006 yet got blown out on the road by the Bobcats and Hornets (without Odom of course)

dilbert claims I'm a hater but all I present is the FACTS (something he cant other than he proves how little he knows about basketball)

BetCrimes1984 posts a bunch of garbage to prove a point when he doesnt even understand what he posts.

LA Lakers now 5-20 SU without Lamar Odom in the starting lineup

Blindy fading the Lakers against the ML this year in games Odom doesnt start 3-2 +90

Let's see if they can get to .500 this year in games without Odom.
