Different Year, Same Story

At the end of the 2003-2004 season after the Detroit Pistons upset the LA Lakers to win the 2004 NBA Championship, former LA Lakers Center Shaquille O'Neal demanded a trade and was dealt to the Miami Heat for F Lamar Odom, G-F Caron Butler, and F-C Brain Grant.  Caron Butler and Brian Grant are no longer with the team but Lamar Odom is still a member of the Lakers.  Since 2004-2005, everytime F Lamar Odom has missed a stretch of games due to injury, personal reasons, etc and was not in the starting lineup the Lakers have had a losing record.  The Lakers' record in games Lamar Odom has not started is 2-19.

 

 

I've decided to make a thread that will carry over for the next 15 games or so dedicated to injured Lakers' forward Lamar Odom.  I've got a feeling that Odom being out is going to make a lot of guys money so this thread will be for tracking the team's progress.

I dont think any second fiddle will emerge.  That is why the team has struggled so much without Lamar in the lineup.  It's amazing how the loss of one player can completely destroy a team's chances of winning a game and that is why I made the thread, to see if LA can finally break out of the slump without him in the lineup. 

 

I saw Houston play Golden State last night and the reason why Ming was able to dominate was because of a lack of post presence.  Beirdins and Foyle were simply not big enough (althought Foyle made some nice defensive plays). Bynum and Brown should be able to handle Ming if they get physical with him but anyone should be cautious making a play on Houston without McGrady in the lineup (Who has a similiar impact with the Rockets as Odom has with the Lakers although not as significant)

What this Kobe basher isn't telling ya'll is..... Caron Butler, Lakers' 2nd leading scorer at the time, was also out injured. This is akin to Jordan losing Pippen AND Grant. Jordan w/o Pippen has a 44% winning percentage btw. Their coach also quit mid-season, so they changed offensive schemes (back to the triangle) late in the season which many of the new players, especially Chuck Atkins, were unfamiliar with.

 

If this guy obsessed over the NBA like he does with Kobe, he might actually win a game.

What does this thread have to do with Kobe Bryant? This is a thread based on the LA Lakers' lack of performing at an NBA caliber level with Lamar Odom out of the line up.  We know you have a sick infatuation with Bryant but this thread is about Odom.

 

And lol @ making excuses... I guess the Lakers' were trying to find out how to run the trinagle after getting beat by double digits by both the Charlotte Bobcats and New Orleans Hornets last year without Odom in the line up too huh?

 

More myth busting -

 

The LA Lakers averaged 101.2 PPG during the final stretch that Lamar Odom was out which would have been good for 5th in the entire NBA.  So much for "not being familiar with the offense".  The reasons they lost were 1) No Lamar Odom 2) They couldnt play defense.

March 20, 2005 proved to be the day of disaster for the Lakers as Lamar Odom was injured in a game against the Indiana Pacers and had to sit out the final 18 games of the season.  Let's see how the Lakers fared over the final 18 games with Odom out of the line up in 2004-2005 -

Great thread, exactly the angle I was working with when I faded the Lakers yesterday against the Rockets unfortunately those fucks couldn't hold a 18 point HT lead

 

 

 

Yeah, I caught the end of the game and knew Houston was done after the 4th qt.  Yao Ming's lungs were  and he barely was getting up the court.  The Rockets made matters even worse when their idiot coach kept trying to run plays for Ming done the stretch to get the victory.
