Milkman, your calculation is correct. Upon review I had an error in my excel formula. With yesterday's win we would now be up 7.4 units for the month of August.

Help me figure this out please. If my normal play is for $40, then what is my play on game 2, after losing game 1? Using your own personal money management. Also, what amount for games 3, 4, and 5.
Thanks pdi, I appreciate any feedback.

The easy way to determine your bet size is to divide your normal unit amount by the amount of the ML. So if you normally bet $40 and the ML is 150 and you're following a loss, you would do this: 40/150=$26.7
Therefore you are betting $26.7 to win $40 and break even. If there are multiple losses in a row, you add up your cummulative losses and then repeat, so let's say in the above scenario you lost game 2, you would then add $40 plus $26.7=$66.7. If the ML is 150, you do this: $66.7/150=$44.7 so that would be your new amount.
The objective here is to offset the losses with the least risk possible.

do u think it is possible to do with NHL? since it is also a moneyline sport like baseball, but the formula will need to be modified as there are no listed pitchers...goalies?
looking forward to your nfl picks as well. GL

Yes, a similar approach works with NHL, obviously the factors are different but identifying dogs with a better change of winning than the ML value is still an opportunity. I only did half the season last year so I don't have as much experience with that.
I do make NFL picks but they are based on a very different formula, and it is not necessarily dogs.

Something that should be kept in mind is the "HUMAN ELEMENT". I bet only on games I fully understand. I have been looking for patterns in games using a database. I have found several patterns that consistantly pay off. For MLB it happens for a very short period between mid June and end of July.
Anyway the point what your talk about is not new. Each capper has their own feel for games. I can only offer 2 pieces of adivce. Never be with emotion and learn as much as you can about the game your betting on.
The key to winning is easy. Your going to win and your going to lose, the trick is to bet bigger on the days you win.
Good luck
