i live in the Flyers televised area and the penalty that was called to set up the power play goal was complete horse shit. The refs did all they could to help the home team. Penalties that were in no way penalties, it was like a soccer game where one guy flops and the ref blows the whistle but replay shows nothing.

I dont know what angers me more Paterno getting fired or people saying he should of been. This weekend at PSU will be ugly as well, the board of trustees did what they have wanted to do for more than a decade and that is get rid of Paterno. Trustees never like when a coach gets bigger than them, they are wealthy pricks who are only concerned about money and their own power. Now they not only fire Paterno with support but they destroy the legend that had become bigger than the school, they got what they wanted. They took away his chance to break a coaching record and have the seniors carry him off the field, and Paterno will forever be connected with a child sex scandal, yet the trustees bear no responsibility. This should of been about Sandusky and locally people were aware of allegations but people figured the authorities or heads of the school would handle it, lets face it Paterno was just the coach and had bosses to report too and protocols to follow. When he says he should of done more he means instead of doing what was expected of him from the board and his superiors he should of went over their heads and gone public even if it meant hurting the very institution he gave his life to. I fear this kind of devastation at his age will literally kill him. This will not go away anytime soon and I could tell this decision was made before tonight by the PR the news was doing locally. They set up public support first and then did the deed like wealthy pricks do. They use media to support their actions and set up public perception before they carry out their deeds. What the board doesn't get about Pennsylvania is Paterno was a symbol of working class blue collar honor and pride because for generations we were a state of coal regions and cities built around factories and people sent their kids to Paterno because he understood that. The Paterno image has been passed on for generations and that is why you see students outraged but they can't rationally explain why. This is just another blow to a state that has gone completely down the toilet. The factories are closed and Paterno is gone. Next they will take down his statue and hire a Mexican who hates America buts wants the perks associated with being an American, because that's what this state has become so why not represent it truthfully. I see more parades and Mexican flags on May 5th than American on the 4th of July where I live, and while I know that assholes come in all colors and creeds there is no sense of country in this state, if you don't wave a foreign flag people treat you like you are the enemy.
A sad end to what used to be.

Another streak down the drain Chargers suck! 
They are the most overated team in the NFL. Given the 2nd highest odds to win the AFC. What a joke! I knew they weren't 2nd best but I never thought they would struggle with the McFaddenless Raiders. Never again do I make a pick on any AFC West team. Their games always go the opposite of what they should.

Booyahz-You know I love you man and I give you much respect. With that said. Let's take a good look at this situation. Now I must say I have nothing against Penn St or Joe Paterno. It's not we're talking about Notre Dame or some other crack pot school. Penn St has long been respected as a school that doesn't right. But in this situation lets get to the real deal. We have a minimum of 9 young boys we know there are more but right now the number is who were savagely raped and sodomized. Unspeakable things were done and some of these despicable acts took place in plain view. Now it doesn't matter what the "protocol" is in Pennsylvania its about the kids. Paterno was given information about these acts. Yes he reported it to his authorities but did he follow up. Why not call the Police, ask Sandusky himself. That's the problem Joe didn't do that. The administrators didn't do that and even went as far as denying that there was a problem. When you lie down with dogs you will get fleas. That's Coach Paterno's problem. In his heart of hearts he probably thought either none of this was true or the authorities would take care of it. That's the issue. Once given that information it was incumbent to Paterno to report another agency because the bottom line is that these were kids being abused by a sick bastard. I don't know if you have kids but I have 4 boys. My oldest is a Marine which I know you know already. My younger boys are 13 and 11 yr old Twins. When I think of what this sick bastard did to those boys Pennsylvania wouldn't be big enough for me to take of this guy myself the old fashion way. So what I see while everybody is upset about Coach Paterno. What about the lives ruined by this sick bastard. What about the kids. Now Coach didn't commit these acts but he was fired because he knew about them and didn't do anything to stop future acts from this sick bastard and as a result other kids suffered. It's like we used to say when I was in the Guardian Angels in LA "Evil can flourish when good people do nothing about it" Evil flourished at Penn St because good men like Joe Paterno and others stood by silently while boys were sexually abused by a monster. A monster who up until last week had full access to the campus. No Booyahz there is something fundamentally wrong with the people at Penn St including Paterno when that kind of thing can take place and nothing is done about it. Sad story all around. Very sad. A remarkable career permanently tarnished by a complete lack of judgement. I pray for all the victims of this tragedy especially those kids who bear the brunt of this experience.

My problem Smooth is the guy who supposedly witnessed an assault walked away and called his dad and he's now the head coach. The trustees wanted Paterno out since the mid 90's. If Paterno getting fired was about those kids what about McQueary who walked away and did nothing. I could never do that. At 28 years old he could of helped that boy. the whole thing was treated like a Catholic priest and the church,(which was also a big problem here, priest molesting boys) how they just cover it up and do nothing. At least call the police not your dad and then put it on someone else. The whole thing makes me sick as a life long Penn State fan and having family and friends who went to school there. The problem most of us have with the firing is the lack of responsibility by the entire staff and there is no way the trustees didn't know. Paterno's superiors who he claims he told were charged with perjury trying to put it all on Paterno and denied any knowledge. McQueary is a piece of shit for not stopping a 10 yr old getting raped in the shower and instead watches enough that he could give in detail descriptions of what happened to the grand jury. Why is he on the field at all he should be fired. Most of us here never considered Paterno a great coach and he has always been naive off the field like the old man that he is, but he was our symbol of what we once were and for this to end this way it is sickening. I really think Paterno did what he was told and being an old schooler like him he thought his actions were right at the time but Paterno never called the shots at Penn State it has always been the trustees and all Penn Staters know this. The school and Paterno will forever be linked to a sex scandal and Sandusky isn't even being talked about and McQueary is being treated like he is a victim now. The school and the staff are throwing this all on Paterno, not even campus head of security called police and he was supposedly notified. Think of the movie Jaws when the chief wants to shut down the beach and the mayor and other officials don't let the chief do the right thing and a boy gets killed. Paterno was our Chief Brodie. It was under investigation which means local police kept it quiet as well and that is the power of trustees. Paterno was always the type to do what the school wanted except retire because being around the game is all he ever did. I believe Paterno when he says McQueary never gave him the details he did the grand jury but for an investigation to happen the police knew which means the trustees knew and those pricks are still in charge and McQueary is treated like he did nothing wrong. This is a permanent mark on all of us here and my feelings for the school will never be the same. If Sandusky was poor he would of been arrested right away and there is no grand jury. That is the influence of trustees with connections and power otherwise it is all over the papers and people would of expected heads to roll. The local talk before was inappropriate behavior but no one really knew what. Someone with more power than Paterno has people willing to commit perjury and kept this quiet for 12 years at least. The people here would of had no problem with Paterno being let go if the trustees really were doing it for the victims but we know they never cared and still don't they have made it clear for at least 15 years they want Paterno out and are using this as an excuse to not only fire him but make sure no one is ever bigger than the trustees. The students and alumni and residents of this state believed in him as a symbol and always knew the kind of pricks that are on the board. Dont let ESPN fool you its not about the victims but it should be and the entire staff of that time should be held responsible and new trustees put in place not fire Paterno and pretend it is for the victims and case closed problem solved. Remember those trustees are the ones in charge and are just as responsible and McQueary should be charged with some kind of crime to watch what he says he did and just go home and call his dad.That action should give you a clue as to how much people of State fear the power of trustees, notice his dad didnt say call the board or the police he supposedly said talk to Paterno. I think the rest of the country looks at JoePa different than we do. He has had good coaches around him doing the real coaching, the man was just a symbol, a trusting simpleton who didnt do enough.

Sorry for the ramblings guys I had a semester at an off campus before transferring and have alumni I am related to and friends who went there and had family who would make and sell blankets at the games. The inappropriate behavior we always heard of usually involved alcohol not molesting I want to correct myself I meant assistant coach not head coach when I mentioned McQueary. I wont mention it anymore I cant even watch the game. The whole thing is fucked up to say the least. and Sandusky says he is innocent, sickening.
I m taking CUSE +4 had Oak +7 last night no surprise SD didnt cover thought they would win but barely. Look for KC to beat up on Denver this weekend Tebow wont get the running room Raiders let him have

No need to apologize Booyahz. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate your insight since this is in your backyard and you're a native of Pennsylvania. I agree with you about McQueary completely. Let me talk about the elephant that's in the room maybe. I say maybe because I have no knowledge about the victims but maybe you can clarify for us.
Do you know if these young boys were African-American boys? I ask this because for the life of me I can't wrap my brain around how so many people could overlook something so horrendous and carelessly ignore it. The only thing I can think of is that these boys were Black. Again I'm just asking and I have no inside info on the victims whatsoever but I have a feeling that all or most were Black. What do you know?

I agree on Syracuse, as for the AFC West how did you know that after the Broncos beat the Raiders by 14 that the Chargers would not even win by 7. SD got hammered Quad and the line stayed firm at 7 the over was getting hit too and line stayed put. I follow vegasinsider for the % and when its at 85 or higher on game day the sheep lose more times than not. exception of this rule right now is the colts. Have no fear going against them right now anyway. I have 3 boys and the 2 oldest(14 and 12) love the chargers so we keep up that team, the youngest could care less, lol he prefers beyblades over sports . I'm a Steeler fan and never bet PITT games

around here the whole PSU thing is a big shock and no one is disclosing any info on the kids. I imagine its for their protection but don't be surprised if more come forward. I hope Joe didn't know more it would be very upsetting after all the years of support. I thought it strange that magazines and newspapers already had their cover seconds after JoePa was fired. The main rhetoric of media is Joe had to go and has been the past week before he got fired. He is going to bear the weight of this no doubt right or wrong. How does an assistant coach and someone who recruits carry that image with them and do nothing. I just cant believe Paterno would be able to scare people into being quiet for over a decade. This is an old fashioned backward ass state when it comes to the politics of schools behind closed doors. everyone on that board farts dust. This weekend will get ugly with organizations forming protest, I would not want to be there,and if your a criminal you will know where the cops will all be. They might consider bringing in the National Guard, with the protesters your looking at 140,000 plus at the game easy.
