Couple things with world cup, from my experience.

1. DONT bet on every single game.  Because the first two group games for each team are staggered and are one after the other its tempting to want to play every game. DONT.  Pick and choose only a few.

2. FAVES are not guaranteed.  Remember last world cup in Quatar?  WC champs Argentina LOST SU to Saudi Arabia in the group stage.  They were I believe -800 or so on the ML.  

3.  The new format is going to make for some interesting games for the last group stage game.  Some teams may decide not to "play hard" if you know what I mean because finishing 2nd may actually get a better matchup in the KO stages.  Also, with best 3rd place teams also going through its going to be very interesting how everything shapes out.

Another thing about the WC this year

Look at weather.  Last year I lost track of how many games in the Club WC were halted due to severe weather.  Also, its going to be hot.  This will play a factor.  Games that start, get halted for an hour or two for bad weather, and restart often have weird results
