This type of bet is MUCH MORE expensive than just taking Team A to win or taking Team A to draw.  With the prices above, an NTL bet will be in the ball park of -300 to win or draw.

I really dont want this example to get caught at the bottom of a page in a thread because it is very important to understanding the differenence between a Pick and an NTL

You are wise.

If you bet Team A +225 to win and Team A to draw at +225, its still the equivalent of making them NTL -150

You were right on about being able to build an NTL bet from a 3-way line.

 

The word "odds" is deceiving when using it the way you did.  The NTL will give you 2 out of 3 chances to win the bet, BUT it will cost you much more to do so.

If Team A is a pickem at -120, to build them into an NTL will run you about -350 to do so.

 

So, you have a better chance to win the NTL bet, but you may have lost the value because you juiced it so high.

 

Happycap and I are in agreement that it is usually too expensive to make an NTL bet on any team that is already juiced to win (-101 and up....)

 

tdogs, I believe you understand NTL, but were a little vague in explaining it with the words "better odds".  Thanks for bringing it up
