Not overly impressed at the play in this tournament so far but maybe that will change. Most of the teams had to endure a time difference so that left some of the sides a bit sluggish. For Palmeiras, it was less the time difference and more the missed opportunities against a very solid Porto side. Al Ahly on the other hand, tied an Inter Miami team that has been a big disappointment this year in the MLS.
Both sides are capable defensive units and that bodes better for Palmeiras, as they have a better attack. Al Ahly is also missing one of their top players after Emam Ashour broke his collarbone. The Egyptian midfielder was one of their more consistent contributors and his absence will be hard to replace.
Lastly, Al Ahly are mainstays in this tournament as they have been one of the best sides in Africa but that's not saying much as most of the top players on that continent play in Europe or elsewhere. But that also means that Al Ahly have had matchups against Brazilian competition, against which they have done quite poorly. There is only one way to play this game imo:
PALMEIRAS -1 (-116): I opted for the goal line as it's much cheaper and the differing styles could frustrate Palmeiras as Al-Ahly sit back and defend. Still, I think Palmeiras has the quality to get on the scoresheet and one goal might lead to multiples though I do sense an UNDER again in this early game.
I might be back later, want to post this. As always, tail or fade, good luck to all...
