I am seriously entertaining backing England at $3.00 for the Grand Slam.

For a last gasp chance at some fun.........hahaha....

I think England handles France and Scotland in Twickers, so it's basically a $3.00 bet that they beat the Irish in Dublin a month from now.

We know England is a better team than Ireland at the moment, but we also know Dublin is a tough place to travel to and win at.  No Grand Slam was looking the winner at the beginning of the tournament, but with England looking stellar and Ireland looking its age.........this could very well be a 2003 repeat.

Any thoughts?

Before the tournament, I wouldn't have thought so....but I fully expect England to be undefeated at Twickers....which leaves only the Irish in Dublin in the final round.  And while, as said, that is no easy place to win, the French just did and they stunk the joint up.  And England is playing better than France right now and is surely in better form with a better side than Ireland at the moment.

Sure, Wales and Italy are not the top competition that you want to base your Grand Slam dreams off of, but there is no doubt England is hungry and firing on all cylinders right now.  As we all know, that kind of momentum is what win Slams.



Will probably need another 25 hours on this one.  $3.00 looks silly for this....

Yeah, am I ridiculous for backing England for the Slam at $3.00.  Really want to pull the trigger on this one.  I can't see them losing at home and, gun to my head, you'd have to back them against Ireland.

Would make for a fun four weeks........well, considering they beat France, and something to cheer for as the days wind down.

I think it will depend on who is going to be available for Ireland (should it go down to the final game). Ireland by then should have their full compliment back and to clinch a grand slam on the road is going to be VERY difficult IMO. The Paddys at that point may be out of the running to win the 6N's and triple crown but they will be super motivated to deny England from winning the slam.

If my memory serves me correc the Irish have a good record against the Poms also in the last 10 or so meetings

Bowe should be back this round.  Yep Rod, I was thinking about Ireland in Round Five meaning they have their injured stars back.  However, if England is as good as most think, it shouldn't matter.

I am banking on England being this good.  If they aren't, they very well may go down in Round Five.

But Ireland bringing back their stars will force a line-up shuffle and continuity problems for the Irish in Round Five as well.

Still, staring down $3.00 for England ML in the final game is not bad at all when we get there.

And they did it in 2003.....and the last two winners have been Grand Slams.
