Not that Tonga isn't the better team, but I think this upset screws Canada out of an automatic berth in the next World Cup

 

I'm inclined to think that's a far line for that game, so I'll be taking in other options. I think 1st half Under (line depedent, of course) will be a strong look for, with the game opening up more in the 2nd half (which also leads to the highest scoring half being the 2nd half. The 2 tight games in that group so far - ARG/ENG & ARG/SCO  - have both followed that apttern, and I don't see why another repeat here won't happen.

P4P, you're right. 3rd finishers automatically get in, 4ths have to qualify.

1st half points is 20.5..

Sco/Eng is 20.5 for the 1st half total points, I'd have wanted 21.5 (not for the sake of covering 7 pens/dgs, but for covering 2 tries, 1 con & 3 pens). So that rules that one out for me.

I'm going to opt for a bet on the 2nd half being the highest scoring half. Don't have the feeling for this as I had for Tonga getting Over that team total, so my bet size is accordingly smaller.

 

I'll just stick with my total unders and live bet the line.

Really, that sucks. The draw didn't help either.

The commentators on TSN are doing an epic facepalm now.  They kept saying after the draw to Japan how Canada were pretty much guaranteed 3rd spot.  I'm sure they regret being so adamant.

In fairness though, Canada would still have finished 4th in the pool, even if they had beaten Japan (while not getting a bonus point)

It was a tough pool for Canada, none of the "minnows" were really minnows.

Didn't expect Tonga to win the game but I really think the French have played poorly in most of the tournament.

Obviously the TSN guys didn't expect Tonga to take this game...but what a game!

 

12 pts in the 1st half. Kicking myself for backing away from that 1st half under, but still, pretty hard not seeing 13 pts in the 2nd half - with England's cup on the line, I think you'll see a much better 2nd half out of them.

I got the team total right, but my thoughts on how it was going to come about were obviously completely wrong. It was a good game, a pity tonga couldn't have played better earlier, so the result really counted for something.
