Early days, but staring down the barrel of 4 straight to those lying, cheating, stealing Queenslanders - we need to start planning..

All opinions more than welcome (except JT, as he lies, cheats and steals).

Chris Heighnington has one bench spot.

Craig Wing is the front-runner for the utilty.

Weyman, Kite, Bailey, White and Cross can fight out the front row spots between now and then. There will be two props on the bench though.

Willie Mason will not be picked, in case anyone was wondering.

Matt Cooper is one of the best defensive centres in the game.

    He's a plodder though, unfotunately.

We need to win. Not try not to lose.

    1. Gidley
    2. Monaghan (would play him on the wing for Origin if only to try and combat Folau in the air)
    3. Jennings
    4. Cooper
    5. Hayne (have hope now with Anderson clearly having a rethink of personnel he plays him where he belongs, wing/fullback)
    6. Campo
    7. Wallace
    8. Kite
    9. Farah (c)
    10. Weyman
    11. Laffranchi
    12. Creagh
    13. Gallen

That team will beat the toads this season

Stewart has 7 rounds to prove he hasn't lost his form of last year which in that case I would start him and have Gidley off the bench in a utility role. Get him away from the first 15min early exhanges and let him run amok for 65 minutes.

What do you think about Joel Monaghan? he goes alright, didnt get much ball in last years origin but i thought he went ok

He seems to have a little bit of pace unlike most outside back plodders these days

That team will beat the toads this season

Stewart has 7 rounds to prove he hasn't lost his form of last year which in that case I would start him and have Gidley off the bench in a utility role. Get him away from the first 15min early exhanges and let him run amok for 65 minutes.

Monaghan is in my side, just not sure where to play him. Hayne will get a run on one wing as well.

    Prefer Mullen to Wallace.

I'm a massive Laffranchi fan, he should figure somewhere.

Can't have Gallen. As much as the guy has passion, which he oozes, we need punch. Not a loose-cannon.

    What about Mateo?

    Mateo can tackle and run

Gallen and Laffranchi are great tackling machines but they are no force in attack, they just plod

As a Eels fan i love Hindmarsh but he cannot be selected in the Blues team,we need players who can attack and defend, people like Hindmarsh can defend all day but he's useless in attack

    Hindmarsh is washed up

How much ridicule would I get if I suggested: Fitzgibbon?

    A:  A lot
    B. A whole hell more than a lot
    C. Binned into the Covers box?

    Hahaha...

Forget utility players, waste of a bench spot. If you must pick one then then it must be Dean Young
Forget guys who have been there the last 3 years, tried and failed
Forget trying to counter the Qld backline, make them accountable

    1. Kurt Gidley
    2. Michael Jennings
    3. Joel Monaghan
    4. Anybody but Matt Cooper
    5. Joel Reddy (best defensive player under the high ball in the comp)
    6. Terry Campese
    7. Peter Wallace
    8. Brett Kite
    9. Robbie Farah
    10. Michael Weyman
    11. Ben Creagh
    12. Nathan Hindmasrh
    13. Paul Gallen

    14. Scott Logan (eligable for both NSW and QLD)
    15  Tom Learoyd-Lars
    16. Laffranchi
    17. TBA

If Logan plays like he did the other night he has to be picked. No coincidence that the Canberra forwards dominated on his return

Laffranchi has done nothing all year, so lucky to make it

Yeah, upon reflection I'd probably go with 4 forwards on the bench. I can handle Young though, he can fill in at hooker, 5/8 or play as a forward. I forgot him to be honest.

    Young in for Wing.

Weyman would stuggle with the pace, he'd only be good for 10 minute blocks.

    Can't have Gallen though

I'm not saying Gidley shouldn't be in the team in some form, but at fullback I don't think NSW can really afford to not select Stewart just on his ability to get across the tryline.
