However, my concern for in 2009 is one that existed for the Knights in 05’ and ’07, that being injuries.  The depth of the Knights could well be one of the strongest in the NRL, but this is the league where winning it all requires a great deal of luck on the injury front to go all the way.  The Knights won comprehensively last Saturday with $1mill on the sideline, unfortunately a sizeable portion of that money will remain there for most of the season – Cross and Ciraldo.  It would be great to replace Cross with Royal and White, but nobody could forecast what was going to happen to Cross.  There is present depth to somewhat replace Cross in Tolar, Wicks (unproven), Taufua (backrower), Fa'aoso & Natusch (too green), but it is a large loss.

Sau appears to be a ticking time-bomb, likely to play out the rest of the season with the aid of painkillers thanks to his sternum.  But obviously the largest concern must be Mullen.

To go all the way this year the Knights must have the Mullen / Dureau combination at their disposal imo.  Mullen could replicate Benji’s performance in ‘05 (sorry for the comparison – Benji is overpaid, perhaps Hilder is the better example), when he played out the Tigers winning season with a questionable shoulder.  Or, he could miss games if that shoulder can’t see out the season (including rep exposure).  I hope he does; the Knights must surely rate as one of the most attractive teams to watch this year.

It’s far too early in the season to be thinking Grand Final, but I had to elaborate upon my earlier comment.

I know some of you guys don’t like these reports, but if there is any truth to the $45k some bloke has on the Knights at $23 to win it all ($990,000), fark I wish I was him even if only for the hedging opportunity come finals time.  Tinkler, you’re a lucky man, we know it’s you…

And AB, you are killing it this season

who gives a shit about the knights?

    oh.....

If there are major injury blows to any of the teams I'm on, I may buy out of some of it, albeit at a much worse price. I'll take my chances on the lines as they sit.

just rub some robutusen on it, u'll be good as new.

    Country (+0.5) @ $1.90 (3) =
    Country (1-12) @ $3.50 (1) =

Campese and Mullen looked in control early, but it was a brilliant second half from Wallace. Jennings, Monaghan and Lyon all looked to seal their spots, I thought McManus was good as well. O'Donnell was close to the best forward on the park. Minichiello and Wing were good too, although still unlikely to get picked.

Farah was all over Ennis, which is good to see.

In regards to the Test, NZ should have been in a much better position at HT than the game would have showed. Some of the refereeing was awful I thought as well.

As for performances, I thought it was one of JT's better games this year. Lockyer was quiet. Hodges was awesome, best centre in the game by a mile. Inglis was quiet. Slater was his usual rocks or diamonds.

Glenn Stewart was good, in a good sign for NSW. Gallen was strong early, but then went missing a bit. Same with Laffranchi. Watmough just further confirmed my belief about him being a club footballer. If anyone who watched that match can tell me why he should get picked for NSW ahead of Creagh, O'Donnell or Waterhouse, I'm all ears.

For the Kiwis, Blair tried hard, as did Benji. Execution and stupid errors let them down, as is often the case. I never realised how strong Bronson Harrison is these days, that kid is a goer.

Battler, u wouldnt back against ur team but u have on ur country.

    Shame on u

    Nah, just needling ya

Tough night mate, saw that replay of the city country game.......wtf! that's why u should just keep the money in ur pocket and enjoy the game for what is worth. After city took the lead late into the game, the country players just shut off like they didn't care about the result.

    You'll bounce back

    gl 2nite bro, choice picks.

'comon u backed the kiwis in league on our turf!, u think we'll lose twice'

I thought it was one of JT's better games this year.

I know he scored 2 tries but i thought JT was absolutely awful last night

    # 100 missed tackles, some attempts were laughable,he truly is embarrasing in defense

    # Awful kicking game

    # Every single time JT touches the ball he does the exact same play over and over again, jigs for a few steps before giving the inside ball to a slow plodding forward who gets hammered in defense, this guy never wants to go wide or get a backline move going or anyway,i was so pissed everytime he touched the ball jigged for a few steps turns around and BANG inside ball to a slow plodding forward

Total joke of a match form JT

And also Cameron Smith, same thing over and over again, run from dummy half for 2 metres before throwing a bullet like flat pass into his teammate who is 3cm away from him who is turn gets hammered in defense if it already isn't called a forward pass or knocked on

Cameron Smith,JT and Lockyer joke of a combination

Ace, I thik JT has been shit all year, hence my 'one of his better games' comment. He was perhaps marginally less shit than other games.

I almost commented on Cameron Smith as well, he was crap.
