Pitt has a nice pass defense. I think with Sandy the Giants lifes have been disrupted all week. They got the wife bitching about the storm and the dog and the kids etc etc etc, less time to practice with evacuating etc etc.  They are well ahead in their division so will be less motivated than Pitt. Getting points and Pitt will not make turnovers like Dallas.

I'm taking Pitt with the points. Sandy will hurt the Giants & I wouldn't be surprised if this game is taken off of the parlays tomorrow. I also wouldn't be surprised if this game is moved to Monday. NFL has moved Dolphins games to Monday in the past during hurricane season

Steelers are now being forced to travel to NY on Sunday due to lack of hotels and daylight savings.....give me Eli and Co. to cover against a Steelers squad that won't be firing on all cylinders. 

I hate to say this because I'm a huge giants fan, but I wouldn't take the Gmen in this spot. They are historically a bad home team and sandy has been a major distraction to both the players and the fans. There are people literally fighting each other for gasoline right now.  Players have been without power (I actually live in the same building someone of them),  and have resorted to staying in hotels.  This may be a home game on paper, but this is far from an ordinary schedule for Tom Coughlin and his group.  It's effectively a shortened week, and I don't think there is any value here in a -3 spread.  That being said, I think the giants could still win this game, but I wouldn't bet it.  

Last year the Packers and the 49ers were not turning the ball over they were getting TOs, until they played the Giants. Roethlisberger will keep a play alive to make a play but JPP and Osi will also be alive behind him to strip the ball. If Ben runs, he's in trouble.

My son lives in Brooklyn, never lost power, internet connection. Stores close by never closed. Steelers flying in, playing and flying out, got to bug them.

as of now, its literally impossible to get gas in the tri-state area.  i dont know how people will be tailgating and attending this game.  there could be a lot of no-shows this sunday unless more gas stations start receiving fuel and power.  

One of the worst road teams. 2011 = 0-3 as road dog. 2-4 as road favorite. This year 1-3. Giants could be in a let down situation. But I lean Giants.

Wouldn't the Steelers actually get an extra hour of rest due to the daylight savings??

How lucky were the G'Aints last week when Dez Bryant's 3 fingers landed out of bounds? This might be a completely different spread if the CowGirls pulled that one out.........

Anyways, I see this game being smashmouth, old school, and coming down to a FG - and with 3.5, I'm in the clear either way

Pitt & The Points Please, now Please Proceed with your Pontifications, People!

Alright everyone... I live 30 miles west on Philadelphia. Shit is bad... real bad.

 

Here I am, 100 miles inland and my local grocery stores, houses and businesses just got electricity back yesterday (no electricity Monday-Thursday). All schools classes were cancelled this week (including all colleges). My mother is a high school teacher 20 miles west of me and her school cancelled all classes next week because the school busses cannot pick up students because their are too many telephone poles down across the roads; and she is 120 miles from the shore.

 

Sandy really fucked our world up here in the northeast (please excuse my language, but that is the best word I can find to explain the magnitude of things). I cannot imagine how things are the closer you get to the shoreline. In my development of townhouses... cars are parking on the lawns... Why? well, all of the cars I don't recognize have license plates from NY and New Jersey... People have family that and friends that cannot stay at their home right now.

 

OK, but I just wanted to let people know how bad things have been up here...

 

And every member of the Giants knows the magnitude of the game they are going to play on Sunday afternoon.

 

I watched Tom Coughlin's press conference the other day... I wanted to make sure that the game would be played at home as scheduled (and it will be played at home at scheduled). He spoke for about 14 minutes. One reporter asked him, "Given the circumstances, do you think your chances to win this game are diminished?" I (being an Eagles fan) can't stand Coughlin, but I loved  his response...

 

He said, (and this may not be word for word, but close to it), "Yes I believe we can win this game." Then he kinda looked down and he looked to the side, he was a little emotional... then he looked back at the reporter and he said, "I know that everyone on this team knows how much this game means to this city... through all the hardship that everyone in the area are going through..." (then he had to put his emotions in check again and said), "Yes, I know we can win this game."

 

I mean, it was kind of emotional.... The Giants know how much winning this game means to a city that has been decimated. They all know that through all of their fans pain and hardship, that the one thing that may help raise their spirits is if they just play their asses off and win one for New York City... (the Jets are on their bye).

 

OK, now besides all of that (and I don't think you need much more). The Giants are simply a better team. Yes, Big Ben had a great game against the Redskins last week, but the Redskins defense is ranked 30th in the NFL.

 

Also, the Steelers are not a good road team and I still don't see them making the playoffs this year.

 

The Giants win this game on Heart and Will alone... I don't care about plane flights or daylights savings time.

 

Also, the Steelers are 1-3 ATS away this year... and they are just an over-valued team.

Pitt bad bad team on the road in 2011 & 2012. I think Sandy carries NYG to an easy win. Pitt defense is hurting still and Ben needs a healthy running back to help with play action. Hopefully NYG offense clicks like it did last week againt Dallas early & often.
