95% of the public is on NE and the line moved from 3.5 to 3. I'll take fade the cheater and take SF.

CmJohnson1 has got it right and Unit G had it right. Belichek will exploit the absense of RT Jonas Jennings with relentless pressure on JTO. And the 9ers O is a work in progress. This is the key matchup...the quality Pats D will be motivated from the loss to miami and rested and prepared from the bye to handle the questionable 9ers O. This smells of a dose of reality for the 9ers and a get back on track victory for the Pats.

Man, Initially i liked NE in this game. Coming off a bye, after being embarrassed 2 weeks ago. I almost picked NE in my suicide pool (only 27 people left for $21,000 winner take all), but this is a Lee Corso, "Not So Fast!" moment. I looked ahead and if they loose this game, they could easily go 0-5 (including last weeks loss to NO). I think if teams have trouble getting motivated for all 16 games, they pick their battles, sort-of-speak (i.e. denver last week). Everyone smells blood with NE this year, and SF will be super motivated. This one's not as easy as I originally thought.

i would be shocked if NE holds SF under 21...
don't think i want to bet this... seems like it would be better to see what happens here... if NE wins they could right the ship and be solid going forward, but if they lose this one it is time to fade NE the rest of the year...
i honestly think nobody really knows who the Pats are right now, but if they lose this game, i think i will have a pretty good idea who they are... a 7-9 football team...

Almost every time some great player's number is retired or some old player is honored the home team losses. I have been paying attention to this for about 15 years now. If that's your reason for betting the 49ers than you could be in big trouble. However the 49ers in a tease sounds like a lock to me. The Pats cannot score a lot of points without Brady.

This is the most solid play of all on the card this Sunday. New England -3.5 for me, doubled down for two units. The combination of the Patriots embarrassment two weeks ago along with a bye week make for a long day for SF. Pats are focused to prove they are still relevant, and Matt Cassell feels at home back in CA. They have a lot of youngsters on defense, and while there are some holes in the secondary, they still have arguably the best D-line in the game. And did we forget that SF QB O'Sullivan has been sacked a league-high 19 times?
On offense they get back RBs Maroney and Jordan, who missed the Miami game. Cassell won't feel like he has to win it all with his arm. Moss had heard the dogging talk for 2 weeks and as team captain will show that losing Tom Brady does not turn this entire team into the Oakland Raiders.
On SF I see Manny Lawson doubtful with a hammy -- it does not help that they lose possibly their best defensive player, on a defense that is 21st in the league in points allowed and 22d in yards allowed.
It's obvious by the tone of this thread the Patriot haters have not gone into hiding, and are praying -- even betting -- that the team goes south. You'd have to go back to 2000, Belichick's first season as coach in NE, to find a performance as bad as the stinkbomb they laid against Miami. People betting their $$ expecting that kind of performance going forward will be disappointed.

danstyk...........maybe got your heart in this one?..........I tend ta think that the 9'ers are a lil better than everybodys got them slotted and the Pats are jus a tad lower than everybodys got 'em marked.........the Pats got the look of a 9 to 11 win team to me and the 9'ers look like a 7 ta 9 win team.........and I gotta assume that flyin' all the way across the country has to mean somethin negative for the Patty's.................I can't make myself bet the 9'ers yet.........but I'm tryin' ta talk me into it!!!!

Yeah my heart's in it, but if you're read my posts before you'd see that I am very conservative when betting my own teams. You have to be. Nothing worse than seeing your team lose -- and topping it off with a losing bet.
Plus, any homerism I may be guilty of is surpassed by the anti-Patriot sentiment throughout the nation. It's pretty clear in this thread, if not overt. I back up my reasons with facts -- let me know if any of them (stats, injuries, trends) are untrue.

I got shut off at a bar last night in boston for yellin at the tv when Gagne was pitchin for the Brewers on the big screen. It wasnt a sports bar but the keeper hated that i was loud-= I guess my bruins game jersey and bud bottle didnt fit in with his fuckin dutch accent and micro brew crowd.
