Jacksonville at Atlanta (12/15/2011)

I understand how all of you can be completely sold on an Atlanta blowout tonight but I just can't seem to get there yet. This is the same Jacksonville team that beat Baltimore, though not exactly the same. The injury report is long with a lot of players on the IR, but it was on Sunday too. If Jacksonville had just won on Sunday I wouldn't be as cautious, but they beat the Bucs really good. I don't think the Jags defense should be overlooked, not to mention you have a lot of players getting an opportunity to play and prove themselves to the entire league in prime time. Mix that with a short week and a Falcons team that has been inconsistent all year long and this is a tough game to cap.

Falcons at home motivated should be ok for - 4 points on a teaser. The key to blowing them is exploiting the Jags secondary. Does Matty Ice have an arm capable of doing that? Opinion guys?

i dont know why anyone could think this line should be four points less. maybe 2. I see atl winning by 9-14pts. Maybe more. Overall stats i use has atl by 2tds. Last 3 game stats i use sees atl adv. of 8.7. could go either way but I like atl -10

i think its going to end up 24-13 ATL.  i'm going to put a small bet on the under (42.5).  Don't like the game, but still have to bet it.

Matty Ice averaging 298 yards over the last month and a half.  Low was 262 vs the Vikings.  Over under on his yardage is 266 for the game.  Only QB to really stick it to Jacksonville lately is Rivers.  Brees did at the start of the year.

1- atlantas d is one of the worst d's against the run..

2- jags players are fighting for jobs

3- jags have no pressure on them.. at least not as much as atlanta

4- short week for both teams

5-jags with a new owner ( players fired up from last game )

give me the jags +11.5

     Clearly, the Falcons are not the same team that they were last year. And while they play better at home than on the road, their lack of any overall consistancy, from one week to another ,is both perplexing, and quite frankly ,annoying. At least with the Jags, I know I'm dealing with a mediocre team.  I have every confidence that they'll cover the number, in this spot.

Is it just me or is Josh Scobee being out HUGE???To me thats the difference between Jacksonville backdoor covering or not.You can't rely on the Jags offense - the kicker to keep up with them.Even if you have a good running back.

i like the jags here. everyone says atlanta is great in that dome but are they really?  they beat the vikings by 10 and barely beat the titans.. they are 4-2 at home. so atlanta doesnt blow anyone out.  I think the jags are on a hot streak right now.  there defense is good and believe it or not i think gabbart is playing better the last couple of games.  i think the falcons win but they wont cover

this is a really good point.  i had the jags down for two field goals.  but with scobee hurting, maybe not.  Did they sign a new kicker this week, or are they just going to roll with scobee and hope he can play?

You definetely have a valid point here. What is Scobee exact injury status? Lower echelon teams like the Jags, depend on "Big Play" kickers whom are able to consistently kick 50 + yd FGs. With that being kicking in a dome usually increases the range of all kickers. I might get off my big bet, but I'm stilol sticking with Jax.

I wouldnt get all excited over the Jags just because the trampled Tampa. Tampa has been jailhouse raped by everybody recently. They almost didnt cover a few measly points against Indy a few weeks ago, if it werent for the late interceptions. Jags still suck in my humble opinion.

Scobee is Doubtfull with a groin injury.He tweaked it before the game on  Sunday and was pulled in the 4th quarter.I think im gonna go with Atl -6 at the half bet.Without Scobee im guessing the halftime score is 17-7 Atl.

i like JAX here +12. i see a lot of running and i think ATL jus wants to get out of this game with the W and injury free. u guys have to remember, ATL has their biggest game next week against the saints in NO.  look ahead spot for the falcons. could say the same thing for the saints vs minne.

going to fade myself on this one.  if atlanta wins this game, they will have a virtual stranglehold on the wild card.  the thing is, atlanta is not really a playoff team in my opinion.

the "atlanta is terrible on the road" is getting old. They are 4-3 with 2 of the 3 losses coming to Chicago and Houston.  They had a bad loss to Tampa on the road, but that was a different Tampa team, one that also beat New Orleans team in Tampa.

2 losses at home were to GB and  New Orleans.  They were blowing out Tennessee and let of the gas. Fumbled at the 1 yard line once and didn't convert on 4 and goal. That game should have been a huge blowout.  Atlanta covered the spread against Minny, and should have blown them out. Both of those teams are much better than Jax. Also, Julio Jones was out for Tenn and Minny game

 

ML  Looks tempting...  AFC team vs NFC team.

I'm from the Atlanta area...and thinking about putting a few units on the ML.  pays 5.5 on an upset su win.

Jags showed some life last week but against a broken bucs team that has Coach Raheem Morris wanting to have the hate to deflect on other coaches families..point is hes losing it. Sound like wade phillips last year..... anyone. Atlanta is reasonable at home and will exploit jag secondary. Short week favors the home team and lots of points. The doc prescribes atlanta and over for  the large!!!!!

are you kidding me... ok look at it this way there was like 4 days to prepare for this match maybe 3.. players had to travel and took a day rest etc etc.. you really think there is a blow out here? i do not see it at all.. plus jags have drew and he needs the touchdowns to break team records here.. atlantas d has shown nothing against the run game i donno what to say.. this could go both ways but i just think atlanta lose outright or win by 3 - 7 points at the most.. gl to all
