Chicago at Detroit (10/10/2011)

Well the doc says before we get too hyped for the great bears defense, look at the numbers. The Bears are ranked near bottom in most categories, especially against the pass. Detroit is more near the upper tier defensively and no one has stopped stafford to mega tron yet. Chi has taken 15 sacks to detroit's 5. You saw last sun nite game what happens if your o-line blows! This detroit team will be sky high after taking beatings from the bears for decades!  DET and OV for the large!!!!!

I think Detroit is overrated. They are just not able to run the ball (298yds in 4 games) - Best has 60 attemps and an average of 3.2 y/a - the other backs combined about 30 att. So all the bears have to do is a way to stop Megatron. Can't imagine another 2TD performance - the bears struggling against Tight Ends, but were able to hold jennings and white out of the endzone. Cutler will not give away the game in the same way like romo did last week - just because forte will be running the ball well.

I Expect a close game, to close to pick, but if had to, small on bears!

This game can go either way.

Detroit has a good O-line giving Stafford time to pass. Their D-line is pretty good too. With the problems Cutler is having late I can imagine them trying to run the ball but getting nowhere against lions D.

Chicago has... nothing. An overhyped QB that is too inconsistent and usually average at best. Their defense has been giving up too many yards and too many points last 3 weeks. The team is built on a defense that seems non-existent.

Here is how it plays out it my head.  Bears will try to run the ball to take the load off Cutler but they won’t be able to and will fall behind early in the game.  This will force Cutler to make throws he doesn’t want too and bad 3 and outs or INT.  I can see Cutler sacked a lot.  He is not mobile at all.  His O-line will collapse.

On the flip side, it’s a MONDAY night game.  Bears defense plays like they are suppose to and cutler shines like he is able too with forte grinding the game out.

I seen the bears D as of late.  I seen Stafford and Johnson hook up.  So much confidence in Johnson that Stafford  is willing to throw into triple coverage and Johnson coming down with the ball.  Of the 2 scenarios above I can only see one coming true.

LIONS LARGE (but not first half… they seem to be slow starters.  It’s like Stafford like to play from behind)

I just can’t see how anyone can hope a defense can put it together when it has been so bad the past couple weeks.

Anyway, what do I know, just a lurker but football lover.

 

All of that, and think about it - shouldn't the Lions really be 2-2 right now? Like a very wise man once said,"I guess it's better to be lucky than good"

In what realistic world should the Lions be giving the Bears a touchdown? I don't just mean this season or tonight, I mean EVER!

The fact is, it's a divisional rivalry game, it's on national T.V. on Monday night, the Bears are a consistent playoff bound and caliber team, while the Lions are consistently the Lions..........

I'm not sure about the over/under, so I kept the gift I was given by Vegas and bought that line down:

Bears +7.5 and Over 37.5 = = = +104 payout

I don't think the Lions is as good as people think. Their schedule was very easy so far. They have been trying to make a statement and have been doing pretty well.. They're definitely not the Patriots!! And they're not going undefeated!! Infact, I'll be very surprise if they win any games after their bye week. To be honest, which team was gonna think they had to prepare for last few years of Lions? Lions have been more lucky than good. I'm loving the Under here folks, and Chicago with the TD..

Chicago + under for game.. !st half; Chicago + under.. Sec half: Under. det + under if DET if giving # points or less.. If they give a td at half time, take it.. Took GB last night giving 7 at second half.  trap line.. took GB and under and won.. lol

I agree Dr.Dogs, not sure about that over though. DET will look to make a statement at home for MNF. One thing people really need to consider is that they DET only played most of these teams in the 2nd half. For MNF, divisional game, and for the fans of DET, they'll come out full blast as well as hard. I think DET will shut down the run game as well as get to Cutler (Suh and Fairley). Those two will cause havoc in the pass and rush game. Cutler won't have the time to throw as he did in Carolina.

Reasoning for the under is that both teams have been heavily known as "defensive teams". I expect 1 td from the DEF of DET. Bears will be focusing on DEF on Megatron for sure.

One more thing, the special team for Chicago will be good, but the offense won't be enough to get them the TD's that Chicago needs. Resulting in FGs

The only thing going for Chicago is their defense but even that looks like it's going downhill. If Carolina had played better run defense, Carolina would've easily won that game at Chicago last week and yet the Panthers still put up points on that defense. I see the Lions easily putting up points and on the other end limiting the amount of yards for Matt Forte. This is easily a 10+ point victory for the Lions unless Jim Schwartz is stupid enough to kick it to Hester. Lions cover easily!

How many teams has gone perfect in the first half of the season then, fall off the map? I want to see what happens when calvin johnson get hurts. For the info; I do like Det this season and have been rolling with them.. But I feel that everyone on the Lions train will crash soon. Vegas gives some and than take it all away?  The more public pounds DET, the more I lay on Chicago..

detriot has not played a playoff team, nor a team that is any good. please keep riding staffords nuts. bears cover this one. dallas the only decent team detriot played. this is a monday nite game and divisional game at that. bears cant afford to lose this game. smells like a bear trap.

Mike Martz loves the screen and Forte is a monster out of the backfield. How do you slow/stop a pass rush? You get the QB out of the pocket, run a bunch of screens, hand it off to your running back (No delayed hand offs though), or throw a bunch of quick slants. All of which, in watching the Bears, I've seen a lot of.

These are two division rivals. They play each other twice a year and I don't see anyone on the Lions team that wasn't there last year. Even if Fairly plays, he's not going to be conditioned to play at the level everyone is accustomed to seeing.

I feel I am like the majority on this board. I've made a lot of money this year with the Lions, even though they've almost given me a heart attack in two of their 4 games. I've bought into this Lions team like the rest of the public, but this is even more of a reason I am hesitant to pull the trigger tonight. It's enough of an accomplishment to go 5-0, let alone 4-0-1 ATS. The Lions are not a sleeper team anymore... They're 1 of 2 undefeated teams and everyone has their eye on them. I wouldn't go as far as to say the Bears win this one outright, but I wouldn't bet against it either. 

This isn't going to be a big play for me either way. I already have Chicago teased to +12.5 (Teased w/ GB last night) for 2.5 units, but I'm willing to lay another unit (w/ the points) to watch the game. I think this game goes over too, but I'll stay away from the total. On second thought... There is a lot of value in a money line parlay with the Bears. So, my final plays are below;

Look at all of Detroits wins with the exception of the KC game..Detroit has won by 7,3, and 4..Detroit is a good team dont get me wrong but i dont think they should be a 7 point favorite when they are 1-4 ATS in their last 6 MNF games and Chicago is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 MNF games..

 

Bears +7 is my guess but I think I'll teaser it.
