This has shootout written all over it unless Brady screws up again. Falcons secondary is all about athleticism. They cant cover corners over 6'2 so Moss should have a good day. As for Welker , He will be covered like glue .

Turner had a quiet 100 yards last week. I expect a very very loud 150+ yard game from him . And about 200+ passing yards from Ryan again. If the run gets shutdown then Ryan will explode. You cant stop it both .

I remember you from last year pick ATL every week and besides ATL games I value your posts.... so I'm not trying to trade shots with you ....

with that being said......

the ATL, New Orleans thing is a little upsurd...

I also disagree with you on how this game will turn out... I don't see a shootout at all...

I will be betting the better coached team with more playmakers at home....

as for defense, NE defense is probably better than ATL's.... I mean Delhomme didn't throw an INT last week (besides the last play)

so now I ask you... if this game does become a shootout... who do you think that will benefit?

second year qb Matt Ryan?

or Tom Brady?

either way NE is the play...

the Patriots didn't take a bus home this weekend.... they are still running to foxborough while belicheck follows on a bike-ala-nintendopunchout... only his has a motor.... he will have this team ready and right the ship to prevent going 1-2.....

are you telling me the Patriots are going to go 1-2???

I honestly don't believe it.... remember, division opponents know eachother.... they draft against eachother... Buffalo and NY were practicing the defense of wideout screens over the summer.... its just a fact....

I for one don't think the Falcons are going to generate a pass rush that's going to fluster Brady.....

I see the Patriots bouncing back AT HOME.....

kong killer your gonna be crying not laughing at the end of this game. i hate new england but i know that the best qb in this leauge will not be talkedshit about he will trash atlanta and get the press off his back you will see mark my words look for new england big. by the way i called both tie games for indi vs jags and texans vs titans markkk my wordss people. vegas will make their money from the baltimore and new england games you shall see

I will still be laughing.  By looking at the money coming in and the line movement it is obvious that the books are backing Atlanta.  i will be playing the Atlanta ML.

I don't see how you can go against the Patriots in this game. Not overly confident but I like NE. The best qb coach combination with the chips against them. This has to be statement game for a Pats team that hasn't lost back to back games since the AFL merger.
 
Matt Ryan is a stud, but has really yet to face a complicated defense. There I said it. I know the haters are about to start hating. Not that the Pats defense has been great, even though they are number 3, but think about.  Last seasons Eagles is the only one. He wasn't exactly stellar against them or TB and Minnesota, the only other 2 legitimate defenses he played against last season.

I still think the key match up here is Tony Gonzalez and whoever covers him . With Mayo out and their defense shaken up already , it could be another huge game for Tony .

Thomas Dimitroff is making his first trip back to New England since he left. Without him, None of the Falcons recent success would have happened .

Excellent trend....  that shows great coaching... I wonder what the stats are for that trend AT HOME.....

Jerrywrasse, I agree with you.... first game fo the year on the road against a Bellicheck defense... I dont' see him having a huge game...

The whole game plan will be around Tony Gonzo....

 

By the way.... check the weather for all North East Coast games....

It will be pouring rain at kickoff....

Big test for atl looking to rebound from early exit playoffs. Atl offense clicking and defense slowly getting better. I would have to take pts here.

Welker in the Pats incredible 2007 season, one of the best offensive explosions in NFL history averaged just 10.5 yards per catch.

Last season in 2008 Welker averaged 10.5 yards per catch.

In the Jets game his replacements , Edelman 8 catches for 98 yards averaged 12.25 yards per catch, Galloway 5 catches for 53 yards averaged 10.6 yards per catch.

Combined they averaged 11.6 yards per catch, a full yard better than Welker could do in one of the great offensive seasons in NFL history.

but what about when Randy Moss had to push the rookie to line-up correctly pre-snap....

The single best performance against the Jets defense have been Edelman , Welkers replacement.
 
The best Houston reciever had 4 catches for 44 yards
A Johnson one of the best recievers in the league had 4 catches for 35 yards.
 
Yet Johnson torched Tennennsse's defense for 10 cathes and 149 yards.
 
As did J. Jones , 2 catches for 73 yards
 
Randy Moss had 4 cathes for a measely 24 yards against the Jets, yet exploded for 12 catches and 141 yards against Buffalo.
 
While Welker was 12 catches for 93 yards (7.75 ave per catch) 
 
There's simply "no evidence" that Welker could of played any better than his replacements did, his presence likely would of been a non-factor, considering his replacment had the single best performance against the Jets defense.

A 2-0 ATS team on the road to a 0-2 ATS team the 0-2 ATS team almost always covers. Patriots bounce back and win by double digits.

my friend, you are crazy....

I am a JETS fan.... I have been watching this matchup for years.... every time Welker plays he KILLS the Jets on WR screens....

while Brady sits back and looks downfield for Moss, and he can't throw the ball there because he is covered, WELKER is free and gets those underneath routes in which he almost always converts a first down...

Wes Welker has been in the top of the league in receptions ever since he joined the patriots...

not to mention he returns kickoffs/punts.....

ask any Jets fan and he will tell you that Welker playing last Sunday would have been a different game....

If Welker plays, NE has a better chance to cover...

that my friend, is a fact, and if you don't believe me, ask your Jet and Patriot fans becuase they will know the answer....

and your season stats don't mean a thing after 2 games.... once a team has 5 or 6 games under their belt then you can start analyzing their stats for the year....

one more thing.... Randy Moss and Andre Johnson were being covered by Revis... so that negates those stats...

are you trying to tell me that this kid edelman is better than Welker at underneate crossing routes and wideout screens.... and is he better at yards after catch.... and also what about receptions...


Am I the only one that sees Welker as a significant upgrade at a key offensive position and has playmaking abilities to determine the outcome of the game? 

I personally think Welker playing is a difference regardless of season stats after 2 games.... and his replacement, a rookie, playing one game...

he was actually a qb at Kent State last year.....

so if he throws a wildcat touchdown I say that Welker playing doesn't matter
