Ok!!!!!! No more bullshittin around!!! Hell yea I'm a true fan, but here is the true facts............BOSTON is bigger and stronger!!! BOSTON has more depth than L.A. We have the big three, the LAKERS have they 3, KOBE, LAMAR, and GASOL. If our 3 can't do the job and they can't do the job, tell me who off the bench by either can do it. BOSTON.......... CASSEL, POSEY, BROWN, HOUSE, and TONY ALLEN which he might play or might not are EXPERIENCED!!! LAKERS............WALTON, FARMAR, TURIAF, OBENGA, NEWBLE, and the rest of the youngsters are not!!!!!! My book has Lakers +1 / -115    Lakers ML at +110, Boston ML at -140 and o/u at 48.5

Lakers win this one 4-2.  Boston has an awesome defense but I bet they put 2 people on Kobe because not a guy on Boston can defend him 1 on 1. (Bruce Bowen for example in the SA series)  This will leave  Gasol, Odom, Fisher, etc. open.  If they don't put 2 people on Kobe, watch out.  Lets face it, Phil Jackson's playing style is too aggressive for this layed back, slow paced Boston team.  I love both teams, but Lakers take it.

Boston will win the first game.

Ok boys and girls...enough of the bullshit bickering and let's get back to what really matters.  It's been a grueling playoffs for the Celtics, and even more so for the Celtic fans.  Not so much for the Lakers, as they have essentially cruised through the first three rounds.  Much like wangichu did...I'm going to break down each and every matchup and come up with some plays that I think will bring in some big time bank.  And although I'm a Celtics fan hardcore, I can still be objective about this series...maybe some of you dinks should try that.

PLAYOFF STRETCH SO FAR:   Advantage: Lakers

The Lakers have the obvious advantage here, needing only 15 games to dispose of the Nuggets, Jazz, and Spurs.  The other major advantage is none of them are as physical as the teams the Celtics had to go through.  The C's needed 20 games before making it to the Finals, a grueling 7-game battle with the young athletic Hawks, another 7-game battle with the LeBrons, and finally a 6-game slugfest with the aggressive, fouling, Pistons.  As far as rest is concerned, they are both coming in with a week off, so I don't see that favoring one team over the other.  It's all on the line here, both teams have 4 months to recover.

COACHING:  Advantage Lakers

The 2nd most obvious factor here is the huge advantage the Lakers have at coach.  Phil Jackson is attempting to pass the legendary Red Auerbach for most titles as a head coach in this series, while Doc Rivers is still trying to figure out how to blow key games.  Jackson knows the matchups inside and out and makes changes on the fly.  Doc Rivers sees the matchup problems and notices the matchup problems, and that's where it ends.  He has been getting better however, but if Sam Cassell sees one minute of playing time in this series, I may have a heart attack.

HOME COURT:  Advantage Celtics

Not just because of the obvious advantage of having more games in Boston than in Los Angeles, but the fact from what I have seen so far in the playoffs, the Celtics fans are louder, and more intense than the Laker fans, who noticeably show up towards the 2nd quarter.  I would put the odds on both teams winning a road game in this series, it's just a matter of if the Lakers win 2 road games, or if the Celtics win 2 road games to end it sooner.

STARTING LINEUP:  Advantage Celtics

The Lakers have Kobe and Gasol, and players who routinely disappear or not play a key role.  Fisher has the playoff experience, Odom however chokes quite a bit in the playoffs, and Radmanovic/Vujacic have no playoff experience, and no big game experience.  The Celtics have had all 5 starters step up huge in the playoffs.  Rondo is looking more and more comfortable except for a few minutes in Game 4 where he was seeing how high he could pass the ball to a teammate.  The C's have 3 legitimate Hall of Famers, the Lakers have 1.  Granted, the 1 the Lakers have is a Top 10 All-Time player most likely, but the C's have the overall advantage here.

BENCH:  Advantage PUSH

I give it a push because the Lakers have a lot more production, but the guys the Celtics are bringing off the bench have playoff experience, and a killer instinct that I haven't seen from the Lakers bench.  Kobe goes out of the game, and the Lakers come to a halt.  The C's are able to bring in a 9 or 10 man rotation on a regular basis and without a major dropoff.  The Lakers have gotten great production from their bench guys in the playoffs, and that's the reason why they are here so easily.  But how will they fare now under the big lights and against the best defensive team in the NBA?  Reason advantage isn't for the Celtics is that they don't have a bench guy/guys who can put up 15-20 points in a game.  Posey and House have the best chance to do so, but Doc can't figure out how to use these guys.

DEFENSE:  Advantage Celtics

They are the best defensive team in the NBA.  They are the best defensive team in the playoffs.  Not saying the Lakers aren't a very good defensive team in their own right, but the Celtics have the ability to absolutely shut the door on the opposing team (Game 6 vs. Pistons).  Tom Thibideau is a defensive genius and will have a great gameplan in place for this series.  Which should be very interesting to watch because....

OFFENSE:  Advantage Lakers

They have a weapon or possible weapons in every area.  They have a point guard who has been in loads of big-pressure games, and hit just as many big-pressure shots.  They have an inside presence in Gasol who can dominate the boards, who has great inside moves, and can step it outside occasionally and keep the defenders honest.  They have 3-point shooters that can put an absolute dagger in your heart at any given moment.  From Vujacic to Fisher to Walton to Radmanovic to Odom...this team has a bunch of bombers.  Oh yeah, and they have Kobe.  He's pretty fucking good when he has the ball.  The Celtics are a damned good offensive team, but have looked very lost at times during the playoffs.  Ray Allen has finally stepped it up a bit and found his shot.  Pierce has shown the ability to be just as good as Kobe when the ball is in his hands, and there isn't anyone in the NBA that can effectively cover KG for an entire game.  However they do have essentially a rookie point guard who has shown the habit of throwing the ball up for grabs and looking scared in the lane, and a 2nd year center who has serious trouble staying out of foul trouble.  Same amount of 3-point bombers as the Lakers, possibly more.

So my conclusion is that these two teams are about as even as you could possibly ask for in a Finals matchup.  It's 3 veteran stars heading into the twilight of their career against 1 all-time great in the prime of his career.  It's a legendary coach trying to pass the greatest coach going against a coach who took the short bus to the basketball camps.  Both teams have a week of rest.  Both teams dominated the regular season.  Both teams are healthy.  Should be by far the most exciting and well-played Finals of my lifetime.  I just don't see any way that the Lakers come into the Garden and take Game 1...Game 2 is an entirely different story.  However, Game 1 I believe is the Celtics for the taking.  Too much energy in that crowd for Kobe to do it all by himself.  I look for Game 1 and Game 3 to be double digit wins for the home teams, with every other game decided by less than 6 points.

nice write up CMJ... only thing i would say that i heartily don't agree with is the inclusion of Odom with the lakers 3pt shooters... talking about heartattacks and cassell, i nearly have one every time i see odom pull up from behind the arc.  I have maybe seen him hit one this year and miss at least 10... I would probably substitute farmar who i kind of consider a slightly less developed version of rondo, only with a great shot.  Oh, i'm also going to be disagreeing with you the side on this one, so i'll say good luck to you on the unders (which i may play myself).

... i think they win here, but if not, i will definitely double up on them and come back next game.  I'm specifically remembering game 1 of the celtics vs cavs and the way that lebron gave that game right back to boston after they handed him a golden opportunity to walk away with it.  I don't think kobe will be so generous.

All the bogus calls late in the 4th quarter if the game is close will go against Lakers. They will make sure Lakers dont win the first game. If Lakers win the first game, this series will be over in 5 games. So NBA will make sure this doesnt happen. Im a Laker fan but always bet with your head.   just my opinion
