first... important... we saw a lot of crapping handicapping from this thread the previous round... game 6 of the Bos/Det was particularly heinous... almost everyone in here was on Detroit... fucking shameful!
so i just want to caution people... remember what you have learned here... if you see everyone pumping a side... look deeper... despite the fact that the majority of people in here are clueless, there are a handful who are absolutely tearing up the NBA playoffs...
good capping can be found here... it just ain't easy...

early look is going to Boston in game 1... also, gonna be pounding the under again this series (combined 9-2 in the conf finals)... total is set too high again... this series will be dominated by great defense... game 1 is going to be the best chance to make good money on the under... total will drop to around 189-191 range by later in the series...
very early series prediction... (SU winners only for now)
Game 1: Boston
Game 2: LA
Game 3: LA
Game 4: Boston
Game 5: LA
Game 6: Boston
Game 7: LA
Lakers in 7
i think the biggest enemy of the Celtics right now could be the fact that all that pressure just lifted off the Big 3 now that they made the finals... if they are happy to be there they won't beat the Lakers...

now to the game...

If the Spurs beat the Lakers and were facing Boston in this series who would you be picking?
Did anyone in this forum think the Lakers would have beaten the Spurs in 5 games?
My first NBA memories are of Magic, Worthy, Thompson, Kareem and company going against Bird, D Johnson, the Chief, Mchale and company. This is going to be a joy to watch for me. Im a Laker homer and take what I say with a grain of salt but I think the Lakers had a harder road to get to the finals yet had a much easier time with those series.
Prediction, Lakers in 6 games

Ask yourselves this question.....

The celtics are getting better each game. The celtics aint the spurs. Kobe cant beat the celtics. Listen to what i said, I didnt say the lakers cant beat em, but kobe cant. The individual cant beat the team. Thats the best weapon the celtics have- they are THE team. So bring on the superstar- kobe will lose this series in dramatic fashion in 7 games. I have a feeling people still dont believe in the Celtics. In the world of "the hot shot" Kobe... the celts will be over looked as a team to recon with...still. Believe in Boston if you believe in destiny.

everyone has been so critical of the Celtics during these playoffs... i assume it is because they are pissed that they bet on them and lost money... remember, the books knew a lot of people would be betting the Celtics, so the lines have reflected it...
but is there any reason to be so down on this team? look at some of the things they have done so far...
they have never trailed in any series, going 9-0 SU in games when the series is tied
they have come up BIG in every "must win/back against the wall" game... game 7 vs Atl, game 7 vs Cle, game 3 vs Det, game 6 vs Det... game 6 wasn't back against the wall but it was crucial because Detroit (unlike Cle or Atl) was a dangerous game 7 opponent, and it was also a closeout game to get to their first Finals for the Big 3, who all came up big...
they were the only team to beat Detroit in back to back games in the playoffs
they went 2-1 on the road against Detroit...
they have given up the fewest ppg of any team in the playoffs...
i'm not saying Boston is going to win this series... the Lakers are a great team, and Kobe is on another level... but what i am saying is, don't sleep on Boston... they CAN win this series, and they have shown they are at the top of the class all season long, against every single team they have played... NO EXCEPTIONS...
all they do is win every single time they need to...
so why do you people keep bashing them? are you really that clueless?

it's not about what people in this forum are saying, it's how the public is betting and i saw even money on that last game, so there wasn't much of a "fade the public" perception... that and i have never seen detroit collapse in an important game like that, nor have i seen boston apply the chokehold like that. there was no amount of public money or other opinion that would have convinced me to take boston in that situation and i don't think you would have either, so while you make some good points sometimes man, seriously, lay off the hate speak. My playoff record isn't any worse than yours (i was on detroit) so i wouldn't say i did bad handicapping... i actually researched a bit on that game. It was more of a maturation game for boston and it's times like that that some people just get burned. Not bad handicapping, just a bad beat.
Anyways... valtos had a point about phil... this series has a distinct advantage for the lakers... phil is an excellent coach, whereas the doc is still suspect. Phil will make adjustments and find out what has worked against boston in their playoffs and exploit it, something doc will have a harder time doing. Also, phil has a LOT more material in that boston's weaknesses have been exploited numerous times in the playoffs, whereas, noone's really put it on the lakers for more than one game (game 3 IN San antonio) and we all know how the lakers responded there.
My early lean here is the lakers, partly based off the spread cheating a point in their favor, but by no means am i done researching and ready to put money on them... i'll be back with more, but these are my early thougts....
oh yeah, and that under IS looking kinda nice, especially with that layoff.
