In every form, the SAVE Act would require American citizens to show documents like a passport or birth certificate to register to vote. Research shows that more than 21 million Americans lack ready access to those documents. Roughly half of Americans don’t even have a passport. In fact we recently allowed our passports to expire.

Millions lack access  to a paper copy of their birth certificate. because they have been lost over the years due to fires or the simple fact that a deceased parent had control them but are nowhere to be found.  The SAVE Act would disenfranchise Americans of all ages and races. Millions of women whose married names aren’t on their birth certificates or passports would face extra steps just to make their voices heard.

In essence, fewer people would vote as a result of this Act when in fact the country needs more voices heard rather than being silenced. I would tone down your excitement because this administration has made nothing easier for Americans & this is just another fuckup to add to the list if passed. We already have laws in place for those who attempt to vote illegally including deportation.

Follow the laws already in place rather than enact a new law making it more difficult to vote for many citizens. 

Apparently, republicans are scared of voters and try to rig elections.  States already have laws requiring citizenship to vote.  Investigations found that non-citizen voting is very rare.  Historically, voting fraud has never dictated the outcome of any US election in history.  However courts have determined that voters suppression is a far greater problem.  and have blocked too strict document proof of citizenship.  Flawed SAVE act threatens democracy and could have unintended consequences such as preventing millions of eligible voters from voting.

 It's not hard to get ID. I had to chase down my lost BC about 30 years ago & it only took about 6 weeks to get it back then. If people are so destitute that can't even ID themselves, I seriously doubt they're worried about voting.

That was 30 year ago when service really mattered.

Enforce the laws in place is the way to go IMO.

Illegal for Trump to threaten to nationalize elections in democrat states.  US constitution gives states the power to conduct elections.  Not the federal government.  Despite no proof, he repeatedly promotes big lie about stolen 2020 election in order to establish groundwork to doubt legitimacy and challenge or overturn fair election results.  For examples, frivolous lawsuits and January attack on capitol.  Contempts for democracy and rule of law are among characteristics of fascism.

Don't worry, you guys are depending on a "do nothing" GOP to get that thing passed.  They are all talk and little action.....worthless.....

 I think if they had the numbers they would.  The issue is there are non-MAGA GOP members who are retiring and don't care anymore, or those who are trying to save their seats from the impending bloodbath in November.
