I have a contractor who worked on my house who is a proud faithful follower of Islam.
When I go to his house, his wife covers herself ( as is tradition when any male enters other than family, not to entice )
He also refuses to involve himself in any practices that involve usury.
He and I have spoken quite a bit about Islam ( I was raised Catholic ) and he asked me if I would like a copy of the Koran (I gratefully accepted )
He has made a trip to Mecca at least twice, and he is preparing to go to Egypt to study more the teachings of Islam.
He is one of the most honest and gentle people I know and he speaks of the horror of 9-11
Maybe this Iman is a radical, maybe as Obama's spiritual advisor says " the chickens have come home to roost" but, I refuse to see everyone in a religion as acting the same.

We are dealing with a very uneducated Islamic population ...Muslim scholars issue a number of religious rulings, or fatwas...these are to be followed by the Muslim population that go to Mosque for guidance and to pray .......There are thousands of issued fatwa's ....
Some of the Muslim scholars that have issued some of these fatwa's have been accused of having provided the ideological underpinnings of al-Qaeda...
These scholars rule on all aspects of Muslims life...,and have recently acquired access to much wider audiences. ..especially after satellite TV and the Internet..
Example:
In June, in Saudi Arabia a fatwa was issued advocating that women breast-feed unrelated men to establish "maternal relations" and thus get around the Islamic prohibition on the mixing of the sexes....
A few months earlier, another scholar had urged the killing of anyone who facilitated the mixing of men and women in workplaces and universities. ,,these scholars try to -outdo each other -simular to the AGW scientist and the Climate Change Guru's....
We are dealing with 1.6 Billion Islamic followers and if only 10% of them are radical due to fatwa's and other scholarly rulings ..we are facing a possible 16 million crazed terrorist ...3 x's the population of Denmark ...and that's not to mention the issued Jihads.....( a religious duty of Muslims)..."holy war." (do they ever take these back ? ...or do they just keep going on and on and on .)
If the Leaders of Islam don't denounce the actions of these so called scholars in their religion ,then a Mosque four thousand miles away from Ground Zero will be toooo close...
President Obama: My intention was to simply let people know what I thought. Which was that in this country we treat everybody equally, in accordance with the law, regardless of race, regardless of religion. I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there.
I was commenting very specificly on the right that people have that dates back to our founding. That's what our country's about. And I think its very important that as difficult as some of these issues are, that we stay focused on who we are as a people and what our values are all about.
