According to Atlantic council, Iran is unlikely to surrender despite being weakened. To avoid a long war, impatient Trump might need to settle for less without regime change. Iran would be a reduced threat needing years to rebuild. But hard to imagine Trump declaring victory if Iran continues to block oil shipping in strait. Problem is deploying ground troops could be a dangerous gamble. For Iran, victory is survival of regime.

Every soldier knows that you never want to run out of water or ammo.
Today I read about our reduced stockpile of Tomahawk missiles. We have used 750 of these missiles averaging about 16 a day. It takes 2 years to build one of these babies at a cost of 3.6 million per. There are varying reports that we had an inventory as a high of 4,500 to a low of 3,000 prior to the start of the war. So we've blown through between 16 & 25% of our inventory while not being able to replace these weapons quickly. We budgeted to purchase 57 missiles this year. We do have access to the necessary supplies but we don't have an infinite amount of ammunition. We can't continue to fire these missiles at our current rate. It's not sustainable.
In battle you are constantly reevaluating your supplies & your access to those supplies. Are they hours, days or weeks away from your position? Transporting these missiles is not easy or quick.
Hope I'm wrong but I expect troops on the ground soon after Easter.
