Dude. Gore said this over 20 years ago. Hasn't happened, won't happen. You do realize that most of the forest fires were started by arsonists, right? The same people like you that keep crying wolf. But yet your cries never materialize so your people went radical and started fires themselves to keep the cries going. Look at CA. Newsom kept trying to say the massive fires were because of climate change, but yet, it was arsonists that started the fires, and then kept starting more fires to trap the brave firefighters in. If CA would do basic maintenance then maybe the fires wouldn't be so large. But you hippies keep crying about grass hoppers not having brush to live in so we don't clean our forests and we leave tinder everywhere. You want CA to save a few bucks and leave tinder all over the ground, of course fires will be extreme. It's like people who don't clean their teeth and then blame cavities on their tooth paste. They just don't use it.

Increasing use of renewables REDUCES the need for oil! Therefore, no "dependency" issues.

Excellent points, Zeus.  We can ween ourselves off oil and we should. It will still be needed for some things of course but definitely not the majority for what we use it now!  But yeah corporate greed gets in the way of that logical step forward.

Of course all of this won't mean squat if Putin launches any nukes.

    Hey guys.

    Serious thoughts here.

I think EU countries are about to get crushed. They’re in a bad spot being so reliant on Russian gas and oil. The optics are awful.

Putin won’t give in so they’ll eventually have to stop buying from Russia.

Then what? Their prices are going to skyrocket.

What is a good way to short or somehow place a bet on this unfolding?

I would say Germany is in the worst spot.

The DE40 is already getting steamrolled.

I am aware that there exist on social media that some dumphucks are spreading MISINFORMATION that most of the devastating forest fires over the past 10-15 years here **AND IN WESTERN CANADA** were caused by an insane arsonist.

    That is false.

Some lunatics even believe the legendary insane arsonist who started over 100 fires in TWO countries did it for political reasons.

These same BIG LIE believers also believe trump's claim that the fires were severe because people didn't grab their rakes and go out into the MILLIONS OF ACRES OF FOREST and umm, rake up all the leaves!  Yup, no kidding!  The dummies actually believe that!  an_roll_laugh Turns out conspiracy theorists told them that, so they believe it.

A laughable claim by the climate change deniers -- most of whom are also believers in THE BIG LIE.

And yes, climate change brought on by oil usage is definitely increasing drought - which is a huge problem for our western states. Cities like Vegas and Phoenix keep increasing ppoipulations but the water supply is falling precipitously.  Meanwhile flooding and increasingly intense tornado and hurricane activity is increasing in our south and the east. All this creates enomorous costs! Driving up inflation!

How about we get back on topic as to what next steps should be taken to bring this crisis to an end.

You want to create another thread as to what the results of this crisis may mean, be my guest.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/california-man-accused-arson-setting-spree-charged-starting-fire-dixie-n1276523  The second largest fire in CA history started by likely a left wing wacko.

Want me to keep going with the arsonists? This was a quick search.

Fires also spread because of dead trees that are not cleaned up and brush and debris that is no maintained.

You don't move the to desert and complain about lack of water. Just like you don't move to the cold and complain about lack of heat. When some areas have record low rains, other areas have record high rains. When some areas experience record lows, some have record highs. Some areas don't see record temps for decades.  Care to explain? Is every inch of land supposed to receive the same climate year after year? This giant sphere that's spinning in the universe is supposed to have the same climate year after year?

Add fubduh to the "people have 100% control over the climate" wackos.

cant be military intervention or we have nukes and earth as we know it dies in 24 hrs

so we r left with two choices

appease putin, allowing him to take wwhatever he wants at anytime ( like adolf hitler did )  and make no mistake he is crazy enough to make false flag operations in the baltics too  (nato countries)

    or

severe international pressure through sanctions and making russia a pariah to all nations, along with intense cyber warfare

    thats it

those r the only rational choices

Right, because people on covers (most of the posters in here are just spreading and regurgitating nonsense from CNN) have an idea on how to end this crisis? Put your tin foil hats on and lets talk conspiracy.

Sure **SOME** forest fires are caused by arsonists.  One was known to be caused by that same company Erin Brokovich sued. But not most of them over the past 15 years in TWO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES they weren't.

I mean what idiot would believe that??!  LOL

And it is clear that severe drought is what makes *ANY* fire worse.

Of course the Q-Anon conspiracy theorists ignore that in favor of their anti-everything rhetoric, which unfortunately, sucks in a lot of dummies all over the world.

I would say that sums it up pretty much spot on.

Cyber-warfare targeting their government, oligarchs, and military infrastructure would seem to be most effective in the short-term.  Sanctions likely over the near and long-term, though by then Putin will have Ukraine and already installed a new puppet government.  It would then be next to impossible for the west to change that government back without causing WW3

fubah and i have discussed this offline but it bears repeating that he makes an excellent point here about cyber warfare !

no nukes involved , and can be very effective for either side .

i like the idea of offering bounties to hackers to work for our side and throw russia back to the dark ages , with much of their military and governmental communications completely blocked and their banking systems television , radio and electrical grids brought to their knees

ya of course they will counter !  but its like 50 nations of hackers vs 2      our side will prevail .  no nukes

fubah and i have discussed this offline but it bears repeating that he makes an excellent point here about cyber warfare !

no nukes involved , and can be very effective for either side .

i like the idea of offering bounties to hackers to work for our side and throw russia back to the dark ages , with much of their military and governmental communications completely blocked and their banking systems television , radio and electrical grids brought to their knees

ya of course they will counter !  but its like 50 nations of hackers vs 2      our side will prevail .  no nukes

and NO! it is not "as simple as all that"     and NO! i am not saying it is !

but that is the basic framework as i see it too   short of military intervention which definitely escalate to all out nuclear war

keep up with very intense sanctions and hit'em with cyber warfare to limit their response and abilities   while at the same time in the short-term arming the ukraines and foreign freedom fighters with many thousands more land mines, rpgs , stinger missles , and javelins.   gotta bring down those fcking choppers and stop the tanks and convoys . all their arterial roads leading to the cities shouls have already been heavily mined but

The current supply issue was 100% caused by the dump in crude which stopped the supply and as that cycled through the system and the return to a more normalized economy that is why oil is at the current price, not Biden not liberal this or that...but no a few of you guys loooovvvve to blame Biden for something that was caused far before any policies came in place from him. One thing I would have preferred is to not look a blind eye to fracking like Trump did and then maybe the massive low and high would have been avoided, fracking is an inefficient, toxic and price prohibitive practice but IF fracking does return you will see a drop in prices down the road but not today or tomorrow. What matters MORE than fracking to supply is the exploration R&D budgets for the larger production companies, the moment you saw announcements from the large players that they were chopping budgets you knew it was over. There were many deep sea drillers (Seadrill, Ocean Rig etc) that did not survive, that supply has more of an impact than fracking does as the cost to procure is less. Nah take that opp to make everything a petty juvenile political poke...some of you need to think before you post and blame, its beneath conversation its the dregs of stupidity and so transparent.

    Street,

You didn't know that when a Republican is sitting President he is not responsible for foreign policy, the intelligence he controls, or the wars he starts? It's all Democratic Congress members fault. Oh yeah, and the Republican President gets all of the credit for trends in the markets and none of the blame for poor performance or high oil prices. However, when a Democrat is the President he is solely responsible for wars, faulty intelligence, and high oil prices. Supply and Demand have nothing to do with it, it's only the Democratic influence. an_light

We can all admit that this is a sheet show. The solution. Send our honest to goodness legitimate President, Donald John Trump to Iceland to meet with Vladimir Putin. That meeting just might save the planet from a nuclear holocaust. We can not have a man filled up with dementia or a VP who is in way over her head negotiate with Putin. That would be insane and very possibly suicidal.

Will joe biden receive numerous standing ovations tonight when he tells us gas is extraordinarily high, we are no longer energy independent, and we just might be on the precipice of a nuclear exchange? I am glad I bowl tonight! I will catch the highlights when I get home.

I take it that was a ‘no’. peace_5

You brought it up, by the way, not me.  I was just asking.  Good to know. an_light
