Looks like he's building a "fence extension" ... a less costly option ... a double layer of fencing at some points.  More border agents and a fence.  I thought the wall was his first and very loud campaign promise?! Sounds like Hillarys plan to be honest.

His new plan for border security sounds very reasonable IMO.  I have a feeling this guy will walk back significantly from all his crazy campaign promises and might actually be quite reasonable in the end.  Can't believe I said that but it's just a gut feeling at this point.  Sorry for the people that wanted all his crazy promises but I just don't see things being that significantly different in the end.  Especially if lobbyists and big money still have their influence.

The "wall" that Trump touted during his campaign seems require over 10 billion dollars to build, Mexico will most likely NOT to pay for it. Where is the huge funding coming from, our own pocket? It surely hype the huge resistance even under GOP controlled Congress, i guess.

Some election promises are made to mislead voters and aren't always implemented.  When governments gain power, they are constrained by reality.  Deficit problem may become worser from more spending and less tax revenue.  Besides, Bush and Obama have already achieved the biggest improvements in border security in US history.

i think many trump supporters thought the wall idea was a real thing.

anyway, this is what trump has so far.  it has some flaws but they are working on it.  or maybe they aren't.  hard to say right now.

I knew Trump wasn't going to actually build a real wall if he was elected. Anyone with 2 brains cells should have been able to figure that out.

What he meant was that he would implement far tighter boarder controls in terms of armed security, better immigration checks, perhaps with electric fences at certain points. 'Building a wall' was just a soundbite designed to get the uneducated masses to vote for him.

Similar things were promised with Brexit in the UK, which were quickly found out to be complete lies. But it got stupid people to vote to leave the EU, so I guess it worked.

I seem to recall several discussions in this forum where some of our current members debated for a very long time that yes there would be a wall and all of the wonderful benefits of building it.

I also seem to remember discussion about rounding up all the brown folk and shipping them off to mexico too...something about using the national guard to do all this work and also using the national guard to provide 24/7 security for these thousands of miles of newly built walls.

anyway, this is what trump has so far.  it has some flaws but they are working on it.  or maybe they aren't.  hard to say right now.

Mr. Trump's detractors don't take him seriously, but do take him literally, whereas Mr. Trump's supporters do take him seriously, but don't take him literally.

He's not in for 70 days, can he have a little time? Like to be Inauguarated before judgment is passed... Did Obama close GITMO yet? I can promise you he'll deport the criminal aliens which is most important of all, then the wall and enforcement...

give these guys a pass,  they are grown men who lost their minds the past year and half. bought every story from the media hook line and sinker. The last thing they'll do is look in the mirror. They won't be come back to reality for a long time if ever. All they can do now is try to measure Trump's actions by his promises. And then scream when they don't match up. Nevermind no President has ever lived up to all his promises.

Just enjoy the emotional diarrhea from them the next few years. We won. Big League

White men voted for Obama in 2 consecutive elections. They change their mind in 2016 and it is called White Lash. The Left can not help itself with racial innuendo. Now we have dangerous, paid protestors being  bussed into  major cities across the country. The Left has no class and dignity. Come to find out Hillary physically attacked Podesta and Mook after finding out she did not win. A typical example of a classless Lefty.

I'm thoroughly enjoying watching the dumpster fire thats become the Democratic Party... After pulling every dirty trick imaginable to win, they lost badly. And now every excuse is being offered than pointing at themselves for backing a corrupt/lying candidate with no message... They got EXACTLY what they deserved, especially 0. He's been radioactive for 8 years, the only person that won was him...

And the horrendous job done by the Republicans was the reason Obama was elected.

True BWS, the reaction to Bush was Obama and now the reaction to Obama is Trump. I made the same exact statement in the summer...

Now that Trump isn't an establishment Republican and doesn't owe anyone anything, lets see where it goes from here...

Yeah that's why his approval rating is so low.

Still living in that alternative "dark" universe? I put as much faith in 0's approval ratings as I did in the polls that were responsible for all the "safe places" we have now.... Yeah he was such a wonderful president... His signature legislation won't last the winter and his executive orders will be gone before he's off the property. So that leaves his big accomplishment is the creation of ISIS... Great job...

we can build a wall .... however, getting Mexico to pay for it is something I like to see attempted, you will pay for wall, non no habla anglais gringo... should at least be entertaining .... I am actually looking forward to this centrist presidency, He was democrat registered supporter at one time.

but thank god I personally don't have to hear ice queens voice for another 4 years . it sounds like nails scarapping on a chaulk board and any time she opens her mouth the phrase starts with I, or its just propaganda lies stories, partial truths  whatever.
