(CNN) Five independently elected investigators have turned their attention
to former President Donald Trump, a sign his legal woes are mounting as he
no longer enjoys the protections once afforded to him by the Oval Office.

Trump is now facing inquiries run by elected officials from Georgia to New York
to Washington with only their constituents to answer to. Most are Democrats,
but one key investigation was launched by a Georgia Republican who has faced
heavy criticism from Trump since the election.

There are signs the probes are picking up.
In New York, investigators recently got their hands on Trump's tax returns and
have bolstered their team with a prosecutor who specializes in complex financial
cases and prosecuting organized crime.

is speaking to authorities and publicly about "corruption and illegalities"

I don't see the correlation. Tessio was a traitor but not an informant. Pentangeli was a traitor AND informant but recanted his statements and slit his wrists at the site of his brother.

I once read somewhere that Pentangeli's storyline was written for Clemenza but the actor did not want to be a part of the film or something. Maybe he died. I read this years ago and can't remember the details. I'm happy it turned out this way as the storyline would have not made sense with Clemenza. Clemenza would've never had a strained, contentious relationship with Michael. He definitely would have never betrayed him or turned states evidence.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A federal appeals court said disgraced former U.S. President
Donald Trump and his adult children cannot move into arbitration a fraud lawsuit
accusing THEM of exploiting their family name to promote a marketing scam (ACN)
targeting the poor and working class.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said the plaintiffs' agreements
arbitrate claims against the multi-level marketing company American Communications
Network did not extend to the Trumps, who had *NOT* signed those agreements.

Four plaintiffs in the proposed class action accused Trump,
his children Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka, and an affiliate of
the Trump Organization of promoting ACN in
exchange for millions of dollars in secret payments from 2005 to 2015. .

The Trumps claimed they had no control over ACN,
that Trump's endorsement of ACN was simply his opinion
and that the civil lawsuit - one of many they face - was politically motivated.

was brought by people who felt cheated by a business he promoted

The lawsuit alleged Trump and family members secretly received
MILLIONS of dollars between 2005 and 2015 in exchange for reassuring
potential salespeople for telephone company ACN Opportunity LLC
there was little risk if they started selling its phone service.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs argued that the Trumps misled them
to believe they were endorsing the company based on an independent
assessment of the company rather than in return for large payments.

It could also have broader implications for those who continue
to baselessly spread the "big lie" -- including Trump himself.

Judge Neureiter has now issued sanctions against the two lawyers,
ordering them to pay the defendants' legal fees.
In issuing the sanctions, Neureiter cited a powerful opinion from
Judge Stephanos Bibas (a Trump appointee) when he rejected
a similar effort by the former president's campaign to halt the
certification of Pennsylvania's election results in November 2020,
writing,
        "Calling an election unfair does not make it so.
      Charges require specific allegations and then proof.
      You have neither here."

(CNN)The Trump Organization's corporate director of security is expected
to appear before a grand jury on Thursday in Manhattan, where prosecutors
are investigating former President Donald Trump's business.
Matthew Calamari Jr., was served a subpoena to testify, and he is expected
to appear to answer questions before the grand jury, the source said.

Calamari Jr. is the son of the company's chief operating officer,
a longtime Trump deputy who is also under scrutiny by prosecutors.
