Problem with plutocracy is government prioritizes narrow self interests of a few over widespread prosperity of voting majority.  For example, tax cuts favored over public spending on education, healthcare and infrastructure.  Undermining democracy and voice of ordinary citizens.  Worsening rule of law, economic inequality and social unrest.

Well as anyone with a fountain or pond can attest to, allowing algae to grow in standing water creates perfect conditions for mosquito larvae to thrive and flourish.
