my point on this is that when attacks like what occurred recently in Connecticut with guns occur there are many people left dead

I understand that, but Connecticut had an Assault Weapons Ban and A permit to carry, permit to sell handguns, or handgun eligibility certificate is/was required to purchase a pistol or revolver.
And the reason why we look at violent crime when it comes to gun control is: 1. People are shot and do not die 2) People are robbed and raped at gun point;
so talking about "gun deaths" doesn't really advance any argument.

Oh, and in the Newtown shootings, the killer, Adam Lanza, reportedly attempted to buy a firearm but did not get the weapon because he did not want to wait 14-days for a background check. Lanza used weapons taken from his mother.

For Cabela’s, one factor holding back sales of guns and ammunition is simply that its shelves can’t be refilled fast enough. Demand for ammunition is at such “extraordinary” levels, CEO Thomas L. Miller said on an earnings call today, that the company would not disclose how much it is selling, to prevent its competitors from finding out.
“Supply is still tight,” he said. “It is still constraining ultimate demand because we simply — in some categories like 22 caliber ammunition, it’s very, very tight. And I think the honest answer is, I don’t know when it’s going to loosen up.”
==Note the over 2 million gun sale background checks last month alone.

Well, polls after polls also show that majority of Americans want a more extensive background check for firearm purchases, too.
I brought this up not for the debate on how effective it might be, but simply pointing out how convenient for you to ignore anything that doesn't fit your argument.
