Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) just shut down Mitch McConnell at a press conference:
“There was $7 Trillion in new debt and 2.6 million jobs lost during Trump. But when McConnell comes to this podium, all he does is complain that we’re not cleaning up THEIR mess fast enough.”
Word
and its going to take at least 2 more yrs to repair the damage created from the chump regime
At least 2 more, maybe 3 or 4, due to the depth of his disaster.

Biden to order increase in mining of key minerals to boost production of electric vehicle batteries
President Biden plans to employ the little-used Defense Production Act (DPA) to increase American production of minerals vital for building electric vehicles (EVs) and other forms of battery storage that are key to eventually weaning the US from fossil fuels.
The action could allow U.S. mining companies to access $750 million in funds under the DPA to boost production of lithium, nickel, graphite, cobalt and manganese, which, at present, U.S. manufacturers largely source from China.

Biden administration to require US made steel and iron for infrastructure projects funded by federal government. This would create more US jobs and reduce reliance on foreign imports. However requirement is waived if domestic supply is insufficient or costs too much.

This is crucial. We need to reduce the leverage our adversaries have on US needs.

Reactionary instead of proactive admin. This could have been done under Obama and maybe this Ukraine invasion might have been prevented.
How are the environmentalists going to react to this? Can't have it both ways when you want to shove electric onto consumers. You want electric vehicles, you gotta go into earth.

Good stuff, Thirdperson. We need more regulation similar to this when it is squarely in our best interests

Our Coast Guard has been doing a tremendous job catching illegal wannabees before they enter our country along the shores of South Florida. They arrive on boats made of used tires, doors, tables and anything else they can nail/tie together using torn bedsheets as sails.
We hear so much about the southern border of Texas being a sieve, so I want everyone to know that is not the case in South Florida.

According to NBC news, Biden administration announces largest federal investment to save nuclear power plants at risk of closing prematurely. US nuclear energy generates over half of carbon emissions free electricity in the US. Majority of states say increase in nuclear energy is needed to replace fossil fuels in the future. This investment helps US economy and energy independence.

Biden to host summit with leaders from Southeast Asia in D.C.
NBC - The meetings with leaders from Southeast Asia on May 12 and 13 come against the backdrop of the pandemic, heightened concerns about China's ambitions as Russia wages war in Ukraine and tension between the U.S. and Myanmar — a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN — over a campaign against the Rohingya minority, which the Biden administration recently termed a "genocide."
"Our shared aspirations for the region will continue to underpin our common commitment to advance an Indo-Pacific that is free and open, secure, connected, and resilient.

Jen Psaki said Biden would build on commitments the U.S. made at an October meeting of ASEAN, which included $102 million devoted to health, environmental, economic and gender equality initiatives. The U.S., which is not a member of the ASEAN, has worked closely with the group to counter China's influence in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Biden administration to issue order to safeguard old growth forests in the US. Scientists say trees are important in absorbing huge quantities of carbon dioxide which help to slow climate change.

It's easy to overlook but this is important. China has been trying to exert greater influence in that region for some time but a lot more in the past 4-5 yrs.

[this despite the fact that previously, the trump regime had blocked California's attempt to set their own high standards for vehicles operating in the state]
