MSNBC/Washington Post Democratic Debate (Fifth Debate)

Date: Wednesday, November 20, 2019
Time: 9 pm ET (6 pm PT)

Location: Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia

Moderators: Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, Kristen Welker, and Ashley Parker.....

The deadline for qualifying polls and donations for the November debate will be November 13 at 11:59 pm, according to the DNC.

As of now,, 10 candidates will make the stage ...of the 6 other active candidates still running.. not one has a single qualifying poll.

This should be the final list of candidates for the Nov. 20 Democratic debate:

Former Vice President Joe Biden
New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker
South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg
Former Obama housing secretary Julián Castro
Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard
California Sen. Kamala Harris
Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar
Former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders
Activist Tom Steyer
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and..
Tech entrepreneur Andrew Yang.

Of note......former Obama housing secretary Julian Castro did not qualify...and will probably drop out......as he has said it will be “the end of my campaign” if he doesn’t make the stage..

The candidate field might once again expand as both former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick are considering making late entrances into the presidential race.

Endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden for president Wednesday morning..

The Miami Herald says Beto is "almost fluent" in Spanish. NY Times says he is fluent.

Deval Patrick, the former governor of Massachusetts, has announced he is running for president in the 2020 race. Patrick made it official in an online video posted early Thursday morning.

You will remember it Hillary Clinton's camp that claimed it was Patrick's “Just words” Speech,that Obama plagiarized back in 2008..

Not sure why Patrick is jumping in rather late in the game & wonder where he will be getting his financing.

Bloomberg doesn't have a money issue; he has the rich billionaire issue that Americans despise at this point.

Andrew Yang..."Making online poker legal in all 50 states & territories is a "win-win" for everyone." 

Glad he's focused on the more pressing issues. cool

He also supports free marriage counseling, getting rid of the penny, 18 year term limits for supreme court justices, the reduction of packaging waste, sustainable development, holding pharmaceutical companies liable for their products & some other interesting policies.

He seems to be a pretty down to earth billionaire.

It looks like Mayor Pete will everyone's target this debate ..first it was Joe Biden ,than it was Kamala Harris and last debate it was Liz Warren..

Buttigieg will be in the debate spotlight after surging into the lead in recent polls...(for whatever they are worth)  he is holding a 9% point lead in Iowa and an impressive 10 point lead in New Hampshire..

Warren will also get some shoots fired at her ..over given up on her Medicare for All plan..

The overall Democrat field stands again at 18 since Deval Patrick entered the fray.. Bloomberg would expand the field to 19..

 The Democrats are a leaderless pack for this election ..unless someone wants to make it three defeats ..

Americans are losing interest in the Democrat debates,,,.

According to early Nielsen numbers, only 6.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the November 20th debate in Atlanta ... that's a downturn from the 8.5 million viewers that CNN earned from the October 15th debate....

And way down from first debate, which drew a whopping 18 million overall viewers..

If,there's no enthusiasm to watch the candidates to watch the candidate now ....how are the Democrats going to get the base to be enthusiastic about voting in November?

The lack of enthusiasm can also be seen in the DNC report the amount of cash on hand was less than $8.7 million cash with over $7 million debt in an FEC report released Wednesday.

Contrast that to the $100 million the RNC raised in the second quarter..You may overcome the lack of  enthusiasm ..but you certainly cannot overcome the lack of money...

I saw some fundraising numbers on the news a few months ago and just laughed. Had planned to post about it in someone's thread but just didn't have the energy for it at the time. Literally brought it up to people at work yesterday. It was like a skit. The only two black people in the room being the only two people that realize that Trump is gonna be reelected.

Playing devil's advocate, this could be because a lot of people could have made up their mind about who they are going to vote for next year no matter what.  Any dem is going to vote for the dem candidate as to not repeat what happened in 2016 with the "Trump has no chance!" narrative.  Republicans will vote for Trump and then you have the legitimate fence sitters who are still not sure.  I don't think these are typical elections anymore where you have a vanilla candidates doing battle for the presidency.  You have some pretty volatile candidates about to do battle and I think people have already picked sides for the most part.

I believe, and I am one of them, anyone is better than Trump. He's disgraceful & doesn't care about anyone/anything but what is best for him.

Although I'm not crazy about her, months ago I mentioned a Romney/Haley ticket & would even go that route to get this POS out of the WH.

Is Hillary running again?  If the democrats have a candidate that they can stomach, why wouldn't they come out and vote for the dem?  Outside of Biden, no-one is really giving off a Hillary vibe this time around.  If Biden somehow manages to become the nominee, I'm emptying my bankroll and betting on Trump because that is the easiest dough one can make. 

The dems lost because of Hillary not because Trump was a superior candidate.  She was so unlikable and a cheater, that turned a lot of people off.  80K votes among a few swing states made Trump the president (Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania).  Trump has a lot of work to do because that margin can easily flip if the dems get an energized base in those states.

It's now back up to 19...

The 77-year-old former New York City mayor... Little Michael Bloomberg has officially taken the leap and joined the race for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential election.

Bloomberg has been an outspoken critic of Trump since the 2016 presidential election, in January calling him a “dangerous” man “who is recklessly running this country.”

Bloomberg’s bid for the presidency makes him the richest person ever to run for the highest office, at a net worth of $52 Billion...that's Billion with a capital B..

Poor ol'Joe first Obama will not endorse him..now Bloomberg doesn't see him as someone able to take on President Trump..

As least with the impeachment hearings he's getting his name out there..

The PAC, Dream United, was formed by Booker’s former classmate and friend Steve Phillips...announced that they will be shutting down after failing to reach Phillips’ fundraising goals.

He had aimed to raise $10 million for Booker’s campaign, but was only able to come up with $1.1 million during the first six months of the year...

Booker is currently polling at 1.7%, according to the Real Clear Politics average from multiple polling sources.
