The nominations were before this whole scandal broke and there's been question if he even has the nerve to show up. He's definitely not some highly celebrated figure in the black community but with all of this said, I am not refuting your statement. I'm sure there are some in the community that don't look down on him and I think most are just indifferent. It just bears noting that nominations are decided much in advance. Nothing would make me prouder than if they revoked his nomination but I don't see it happening. He needs to be a sacrificial lamb. Someone the community collectively seperates itself from as if to say, "We are as deeply troubled by this as anyone else and we don't support it. That would go a long way in helping both race relations and relations between the community and police.

I wouldn't dare compare Jussica to Pete Rose. His crimes are far more severe and his over all impact on his industry is far less extensive. Pete was one of the best to ever do it. Smollett is a flash in the pan. Pete humbled himself. Smollett is doubling-down on playing the victim. He would make a perfect sacrificial lamb. He's not even endearing.
