    Leading into talks

Zelensky stated on x social media.

Ukraine did not start this war. Russia started it. Ukraine supported President Trump’s proposal for a ceasefire. Ukraine has agreed to many different compromises, and this is documented in our draft agreements, in our 20-point plan. Ukraine is willing to do whatever it takes to stop this war," Zelenskyy wrote on X.

Trump record as a peacemaker is overrated.  Talking about peace is not the same as achieving it.  Signing short term ceasefires and declaring victory is not the same as ending wars.  Some of the wars that he claims to have resolved are at risk of breaking down or have already collapsed into renewed conflicts.

Zelenskyy says plan includes US security guarantees for 15 years, although he asked for more

We are restarting our live coverage of the war in Ukraine and the diplomatic efforts to bring it to an end after nearly four years of conflict following the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters via WhatsApp this morning that he asked Donald Trump to provide security guarantees of up to 50 years during their high stakes meeting at the US president’s residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, yesterday.

Zelenskyy said that, instead, a draft peace framework envisages US security guarantees for Ukraine for 15 years.

It is not clear what form these commitments would take, but the Ukrainian leader has been pushing for “article-5-like” security guarantees from Europe and the US, referring to Nato’s founding principle that an attack on one member should be seen as an attack

    on all.

@ third person, whatever your side of this is it ready doesn't matter cause words are meaningless without actions.

Trump in the span of 13 months has brought this conflict to addressing very few points now to achieve a peace treaty. Biden administration failed to do this all of Europe failed to do this since the start of the conflict.

These provinces have been in a state of lawless rebellion for decades.

Trump is effective, is ahe a good person no, a good man someone you trust with your children hell no. However is he good at .asking great deals that would be yes. He is very effective, whether it is making a COVID vaccine available or applying pressure to Congress he does get the job done...

The other party likes to talk and never solve...

There's something that confounds me about the Failed Mail Order Meat Salesman in these peace negotiations.

You don't check in with the aggressor in this situation before you speak with our ally Ukraine  & what's left of our coalition of allies.

Once that's done, you approach Putin & tell him this is what Ukraine is willing to do & this is what he needs to do bring peace to the region.

You don't scramble back to relay the confidential conversations discussed with President Z & provide Putin details of what was said.

Can't wait to eventually find out what Putin has hanging over the head of Benedict Donald.

Zelensky is just sucking cash from the US again. How many times over the years has he come to talk peace but really just drawing cash from the US for weapons and support? I think he is a fraud and the US needs to quit funding this situation period. Let Europe hold the tab and step up, the US has given BILLIONS and absolutely nothing has come of it but the loss of Russian and Ukraine lives.

We cant afford to keep funding their problems but I might feel differently if Zelensky was really interested in peace versus aggressive actions and talk about offensive moves into Russia. I do not see this ending any time soon and how can we keep flushing cash there when we are trillions in debt ourselves?

You have not given him any money for ages - Europe has funded this - by paying your military industry - so maybe a little less whining would be nice an_cheers (I also think we have a open tab for helping you in Afghanistan and Iraq etc. where we fought your war - you have never picked up)

And why should Ukraine talk about “peace” as you put it ? They have given up Nuclear weapons in the past for “peace” - they have given up resources for “peace” - they have given up “land” for peace - NOTHING has made you help them

Don't mention the frogs - we don't want to scare the toddler - we want him to sleep

    @Calde13

Im saying Z is not actively seeking peace when he is involved in offensive aggressive actions at the same time. The US has given Ukraine over 25 BILLION and what is there to show for it towards peace? Nothing...and I believe Z has squandered money and weapons as their government is corrupt. At some point the US (and Europe) needs to stop funding Ukraine until they actually stop with the attacks on Russia that are not moving towards peace.

You have to be joking about the other historic stuff, who is going to benefit more from Russia stopping their plunder in that region, the US or Europe?

It is my view that Ukraine has not held up to what Russia laid out as terms for their existence back when they were allowed provincial status, to Russia it is their right and ability to annex any provinces if they feel the province is a risk to the greater union. I have no idea how there can be peace there when neither side is motivated for peace, the only result is spending billions and killing innocent civilians while war mongers profit from the interaction.

I for real think the Ukraine war is the best thing that has happened to you as a nation in ages apart from your response to it - just like the WW2 was back then (you weren’t shit before WW2 compared) ! It gives you so much leverage over your allies and you can “spend” a lot of money by just relocating the money within your own borders - all the money goes to your military industries ! Where we have to pay for the rebuilding and paying you for the weapons out of pocket ! (And NATO would never have raised it spendings if not for Ukraine war - so it does sound a bit shallow to talk about the money it has cost you - but yeah we agree on the horrific part of human lives)

There are also a lot of things you don’t have as part of your calculations - if there wasn’t war on our continent we would never have just accepted a trade deal that favored you - are you kidding - we are one of the biggest financial super powers in the world (if not the biggest outright) and we could easily have slapped you back in place - we could start by selling off 3 trillion of your debt and maybe remove your ability to make international trades without the receiver having to pay you in cash at delivery - and that wasn’t enough we could remove your ability to trade with the biggest internal market in the world

How do we stop the Russians and their war industry.

If we can't hit targets in Russia proper

If you can't replace weapons shells and equipment your soon be a sitting duck.

The two regions in dispute have been in open rebellion since the removal of the Russian leaning president. They want to be Russian again and dream of when they were apart of the great Soviet union.

News flash when Chernobyl nuclear facility went well nuclear it was in the Soviet Union then. Ukraine was a Soviet province

Since 3014 and the annexation of crimerea during the winter Olympics donbas a whatever province have been in open rebellion against Ukraine.

We divided Germany we allowed Poland to be divided we divided Vietnam once upon a time Korea ended as a divided state. EAst west interests....

But now oh we can't have that.... Wall street has a valid point of Ukraine corruption problems, last month another top aide went down skimming off the top of the national Treasury.....

This conflict has to end. The only ones making anything here are the sword makers....

@caldwell why do you feel Afghanistan has been in dispute for over 40 years? Cause it is the largest oil field in the world. And as long as it was a war zone Afghanistan could not supply their neighbors chonas energy needs.

By keeping these areas in conflict zones than the mineral and oil can not emerge real hard to drill in an active battlefield.

Today it is rare earths and as Ukrainian minerals are kept from the market Russian and chonas supply dominate the needs for lithium.

As long as Ukraine wheat isn't in play then our bounty and Russians bread basket is now the only players for world food needs.

Same stuff corner the market and exploit the need .

Yeah it has to end but on Ukrainian terms - or atleast on European terms (since it is us that has to fight with the consequences) - you have nothing to say on this subject how it should end up - you are supposed to just be the mediator between the two - rather you have chosen to side with the aggressor and throw your allies under the bus - which of course also is a solution that will do you a lot of good going forward new_poop

It will soon come to an end regardless - Russian economy is in the dumpster - Trump is just doing this as a show so he can say he “ended” it - so everyone will end up happy I suppose - you keep your reality show and we deal with the realities

Russia can stop after they take all of donbas and hold the nuclear power plant entirely or they can be given the rest of the territory and have a third of the nuclear facility.

As far as stopping Russia that is futile without destroying the supply chain for war needs and that will not happen.

We not going to strike Russia first Europe or America. We won't cause that becomes world war x and global elimination.

This war will end it just how much of Ukraine will be Russian by then. As far as Russia economy with China bank rolling Russia and taking their debt as bonds same as we did them Russia is fine with buying everything from China and shipping it by heavy rail through Siberia.

The number includes 1,000 casualties that Russian forces suffered over the past day, the General Staff said.

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has told US president Donald Trump that Ukraine did not attempt to assassinate Vladimir Putin, contradicting Russian claims that Ukrainian drones targeted one of the Russian president’s residences.

US intelligence assessed the allegation as false, indicating Putin misrepresented the incident.

Earlier, Russia released videos of alleged drone wreckage and claimed it had decoded files proving the attack, but Ukraine called the footage “laughable” and accused Moscow of staging the incident to derail the peace talks.

Tuesday, the president withdrew his lawsuit over keeping control over the troops in Los Angeles. Since their deployment, there has been an ongoing legal battle between the president and the state leaders over the National Guard.

For six months, California National Guard troops have been used as political pawns by a President desperate to be king. From the political display in MacArthur Park to their unlawful participation in indiscriminate immigration raids, the militaristic deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles streets has left lasting scars in Angeleno communities. There is a reason our founders decided military and civilian affairs must be kept separate; a reason that our military is, by design, apolitical,” said California Attorney General Bonta in a written statement.
