All of this is spot on.

America first is the best policy. What has foreign aid even gotten us. Literally every country in the world hates us.

We have people living in the streets and eating out of dumpsters here. I think we should take care of them before giving aid to a foreign country.

Less welfare and more jobs doing the basics around cities like picking up trash, painting over graffiti, and filling pot holes. 

Tax the Mega rich and stop over taxing the rest of us peons ..

Why do we have to do this though? I mean, it isn't working very well is it? There's no strategic reason for it. We aren't lauded for are humanitarian efforts. The world still thinks we are horrible. China is downright horrible both to the the world and it's own people yet somehow they don't catch nearly the flack we do. I'm all for taxing those who have, fairly and with accountability, even if that includes myself but I am not for sending a dime of that money out of this country.

I see your point, Stu.
It's a common refrain.
But I also see the other side.
America, on this planet, is part of a "global community" - much like you and I and
even the dumbass conspiracy theory believers are individuals who are part of our
various local/state/national communities - except on a larger scale.
Most of us individuals give freely (always or occasionally) to causes/charities in our
local or greater communities, often to complete strangers to us. We don't HAVE TO,
but our advanced ideology for humanity, (and/or our FAITH) leads us to accept
it is the right and good thing to do... helping others in desperate need when we can -
- even though we could surely keep that money and further our own situation.
So it is with America in the global community.

And America under both left and right admins have been doing so for decades.

Now, we *could* adopt the trumpism philosophy - WIIFM?

Do we want to turn to the "dark side" and refuse donations (even small) to the
local animal shelter, cancer society, boy scouts, or veterans associations, etc, etc?
In my experience, only selfish a--holes would even think that way.

That's the liberal side of me.

My conservative side wants to help BUT HATES that we give money to feed poor
underdeveloped countries with millions of starving people which don't (and won't)
have a means of feeding their own population. It's a bottomless pit. We feed
10 million starving kids today to keep them alive, and tomorrow we have 15 million
starving kids holding out their hands, then 20 million, then 25 million, and so on.
I want aid to to go to help desperate people/countries but ONLY to help them
develop a means to help themselves.
