All three indexes closed higher Thursday for a sixth-straight session an_2drinks

The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 158.11 points, to finish over 37,200!
The S&P 500 rose 12.46 points, to close 4,719, near an all time record!
The Nasdaq Composite gained 27.59 points, to end at 14,761.56.

**I have nothing in the Nasdaq but glad I diversified to spread'em out from my mostly S&P holdings to include the DOW!

an_light The DOW now sits at an all time record high!

an_light The S&P is fast approaching their new record high!

an_light Nasdaq too is closing in on an all time record high!

Assuming nothing extreme happens to upset world order, we can expect that when the FED actually cuts rates there will be another kick upward for the markets an_2drinks - which directly benefits close to 50% of Americans regardless red or blue!   Might be small, might be a decent hike.  But it's very unlikely to fall (barring unforeseen extreme events)

I’m glad that you’re getting richer while the morals of the people in this world is getting poorer.

Dow soars over 600 pts after Fed decision!

Investors were pleased with the Federal Reserve’s
decision to keep rates unchanged on Wednesday afternoon.

The major US indexes shot higher following the announcement.

Stocks are tracking towards another winning week
after reaching new highs on Tuesday!

The S&P 500 closed at its highest level this year,
continuing the stock market’s red-hot rally.

The DOW surged past it's previous record high
which was reached in January 2022, just weeks before
the Russsian terrorist attacks on Ukraine.

I don’t even care about money . That infatuation is for fools . Anything truly worth something in this life is free . Love and caring being the most important that fall into that category . And I make money . Good money . And I work hard for it too . I’m a leader and people see it . Those under me , some have the tenacity and they will rise to the top and be leaders someday as well , and the others that lay in the background that only do the bare minimum , well I guess that’s fine if you can live with it , cuz money ain’t everything , but make no mistake , I’m not gonna go around and cheerlead dollar bills and be happy about my own situation while other people on this planet are suffering decapitation from projectiles that are being launched into their homes . It’s not a good look for me .

Looking and Feeling Good on the inside

And I make money . Good money . And I work hard for it too . I’m a leader and people see it . Those under me , some have the tenacity and they will rise to the top and be leaders someday as well , and the others that lay in the background that only do the bare minimum , well I guess that’s fine if you can live with it , cuz money ain’t everything , but make no mistake , I’m not gonna go around and cheerlead dollar bills and be happy about my own situation while other people on this planet are suffering decapitation from projectiles that are being launched into their homes . It’s not a good look for me .

    @fubah2

Be more honest and use the correct phrase, it is despite the Biden admin, Biden has done zero for the market, what has he done except fill a seat and spend money we do not have helping fuel wars in other countries?

Biden is a joke, you guys need to quit elevating an awful president, it will be great when he is done and gone, he is uninspiring and lacks leadership abilities. This country needs a unifying, inspiring and high caliber leader..maybe we should quit electing lousy men and start looking at female leaders for once.

Incrementally though, as I do not expect huge leaps at any time.  Huge drops, otoh, are possible at any moment though due to some extreme events as noted earlier. But I expect a continued crawl forward and I'm just going to hold and watch the slow progression.  I'm hoping the FED gives us the first cut by the start of spring. @spockgato

I am ok with that because I will say that about both sides, I said the same about Trump when the Trump kids were cheering the markets and when they were bashing Biden after the market was down. Neither politician had much of any impact on the markets. How would you explain the lows and then highs with Biden and the way that covid knocked the market down with Trump?

The FED moves the market much more than Biden or Trump, even the freebies Trump gave to corps didnt move the markets like Powell hinting at raising or lowering rates.

You're only half-correct , Wall...  The FED "does" influence the markets greatly,... thus, the moniker , " Don't Fight The FED ."   But Congress and the President can also set the tone in the stock market  w "Fiscal Policy."  Plenty of you lefties continue to discount what the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act did ( as an example).  Female, black, minority unemployment rates that plummeted to 50 year lows... Many s&p 500 companies repatriating billions of dollars back to America, benefiting  " both" shareholders w buybacks and workers w bonuses.  Average Americans were benefiting greatly in an environment of solid growth and low inflation.  Then, the Pandemic hit....

I think this is one reason why blacks and minorities are having " buyer's remorse" , voting for "dipshit" Joe in the last election.   He has managed to really, really  screw over the everyday worker, who has nothing in stocks, with "Bidenflation "

History shows that trickle down economics fail to pay for themselves.  Trump unnecessary tax cuts increase federal deficits and income inequality while failing to help working families  with higher economic growth, more jobs and higher wages according to Institute for taxation and economic policy and Center for budget and policy priorities.  Polls show most Americans want the rich to pay more taxes.

    @Rush51

Thanks for the Biden rant which had nothing to do with my comment. I said that NEITHER politician had an impact the way the FED does and I gave swing examples that prove the point.

Why would the markets get smacked around and in less than 3 years go back to ATH levels with the same president in office? It is impossible that the dull instrument of the government could move markets that much that quickly UNLESS there is an outlier event. Same goes for Trump, you Trump kids were tooting your kazoo when the markets were great and yet we also went through a tough time due to an outlier. Trump had minimal FED interference though, rates were no higher than 2.25 and were at .25 to zero for most of his term and the market reacted accordingly. Biden faced the steepest curve that we have seen in over 15 years and the market reacted accordingly. The move this last month is due to the market getting a whiff of the FED being finished and likely reversing, that is the sole explanation for the cycle low and back to high so quickly.

The government might shape the markets over the long term to a small degree but barring outliers it has little impact of magnitude.

I’m not ok with it . Let me ask you something . What woulda happened if Patrick Swayze just woulda left baby in the corner ? And if he didn’t stick up for her ? To her family’s disrespect for her abilities and intelligence ? They never woulda fell in love and done that forbidden dance number at the end of the movie that’s what woulda happened .

we as the viewer woulda been cheated out of a great and iconic moment in movie history . Same here . The reader is missing out on some discourse and dialogue that could prove beneficial to them at some point in the future . Because now their thought process can not garner some new insight into things that they may have never contemplated before because that back and forth jibber jabber never took place .

this goes against natural law in my opinion .

We as humans are designed to create and give birth . Whether that birth is another person , or ideas , or whatever doesn’t matter . We are made to produce and add , not kill , stop , or negate forward progress .

    that’s what’s happening here .

I think that you have things to say and missing out on important discussions , although they may be uncomfortable to some , is really stalling and stifling the progress that the reader can make . Is anything worthwhile ever easy anyway ?

I apologize if I went on a tangent friend , but this is something that I feel very strongly about , as it is important to our evolution .

I’d rather take my chance to succeed than never try and always wonder what would have happened .

failed promise and unrealized potential . It’s a sin .

I’m not ok with it . Let me ask you something . What woulda happened if Patrick Swayze just woulda left baby in the corner ? And if he didn’t stick up for her ? we as the viewer woulda been cheated out of a great and iconic moment in movie history . Same here . The reader is missing out on some discourse and dialogue that could prove beneficial to them at some point in the future . Because now their thought process can not garner some new insight into things that they may have never contemplated before because that back and forth jibber jabber never took place .

this goes against natural law in my opinion .

Truth! The 2017 tax cuts (a go to for every GOP admin) was of incredibly little benefit to the common folks but a significant benefit to the wealthy. GREAT!...if you're wealthy!

Furthermore the reduced revenues, in effect, significantly impacted our national debt!! Trump ran on a campaign of being the savvy businessman who not only would control our deficits but reduce our national debt to zero!  Yes, he said ZERO!  It turns out that the guy who claims to be "the king of debt" was telling the truth about that part.  He ADDED over 7 TRILLION during his economic term!  Too many people ignored the fact that he declared bankruptcy 6 times (including a casino of all places) and has been guilty of FRAUD - including tax fraud - for much of his life.  That, being arrested 4 times for 91 criminal charges......and being declared a disgusting sex-offender.

Then of course there is the massive economic fallout directly from failing to manage the covid crisis successfully.
