NEW HAVEN — The gray, foggy day around Tweed New Haven Airport lifted into a mild, sunny Friday afternoon in time for Vice President Kamala Harris’ arrival, as state officials and residents waited eagerly for her first visit to Connecticut.
Harris, in the last stop on her “Help is Here” tour, is highlighting veteran U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, showering state Democrats with some national political stardust, and underscoring the extra child care funding on the way through the $1.9-trillion American Rescue Plan.

A crowd greeted Harris outside the club, and at a nearby school, a large group of children cheered and applauded as the motorcade passed.
Around 3 p.m., Harris, along with Cardona, entered a meeting room in the Boys & Girls Club where she told Bye and Dorantes that she had been eager to meet them. Murphy, Blumenthal and Lamont were seated at tables in a U-shape.
“We are at such a critical point in our nation’s history” for children poverty, Cardona said. “It’s almost like a reset button.”
He cited statistics on child poverty in the nation and Connecticut on food insecurity.
“We know that education can really lift up children out of poverty,” he said.
He said the Education Department’s job is to provide resources on how this could work, and to get children back learning in-person as quickly and safely as possible in the pandemic.
Harris called Connecticut “progressive” and “courageous and innovative” about what “you have done in the state,” and called Murphy and Blumenthal her “buddies” for her former position in the U.S. Senate.
She said they are being “clear-eyed” about the challenges that the pandemic has exposed.

It was described as an incredible experience for the children who witness vice president Harris and her husband.
Memories that will last for the rest of their lives. A real mother vice president and amazing presence of a lady visited a boys and girls club and head start program in now where Connecticut USA.
She didn't go to new haven to address a political group at Yale. Or the usual meet and greet with Democratic leadership in southern Connecticut for a fund raping event she went and spent time with poor children and their educators.
Amazing... he'll I am a shocked....
