Gal vs. Guy: What's the Difference?

Gal is informal slang for a girl or woman, while Guy is a term for a man; both are often used to refer to people in general.

Some that I've considered don't feel right about (though these may be reasonable answers) are:

• dolls: too old-fashioned
• babes: too informal
• ladies: too formal or I've heard from women, too creepy
• women: too factual
• girls: too patronizing (as much as 'boys')
• everyone, you all: too bland
• y'all: perfectly non-sexist but too regional (might work, but not everywhere)

One answer was this:

Gals comes to mind, as in the commonly used expression guys and gals.

But the issue is nowadays so many things are ‘offensive’.

You see a lot of people just say to a group of people, ‘guys’ or ‘folks’ or ‘y’all’.

But ‘guy’ singularly is gender-specific.

So, what is the similar option when you want an informal term for a female specifically.

As you can see above some terms have changed over the years to be not so good.

Maybe ‘gal’ is headed that way.  But it is still appropriate in informal language.

Of course, any word can have a bad tone or connotation if followed by obviously bad adjectives etc.

But all in all, I think it is still fine to differentiate in informal settings between a man or a woman by using those two terms.

Sure.  You folks essentially tried 'nationalizing' elections back when you were in charge.

That is the term you gave it: "For the People Act".  This would pretty much have taken it out of the states hands as far as ID or cleaning up the rolls, etc.

So, my question to you is still the same:  why did you not get upset about that attempt at 'nationalizing' elections?  But now you bellyache about it?

I seriously doubt you are the guy to be giving advice on denotation and connotation on words and phrases or any other semantical things.

Aren't you the guy that got confused on a French phrase and when corrected doubled down and then tripled down.

Then you use 'dood' as if it is a word.  You will not find that in any dictionary or online legitimate dictionary.  It is only used as rare online slang.  In fact, you are the only person I have ever seen use it.  The first 10 times you used it maybe it was cute.  Now I am beginning to think that you really think it is the correct word.

Then you use the phrase 'zero-ego' as if you know what it means.  This is your new favorite phrase. 

To paraphrase the guy, "I see you keep using this, but I am beginning to think it does not mean what you think means."

I am used to deflection and pocket experts but if you are going to MAKE a claim, why can you not explain and defend it? You have not explained or defended anything. You said I can go find out there as if your claim is my job to investigate and then you said literally nothing to back up what you said or give any details. You asked what you call a party trying to nationalize elections.  I told you EXACTLY what your party called it when they tried to do it.

So---that is what you call it.

This was you claim, I asked you and still have no answer to your claim. Who is my people and what did my people do? See when you make a claim as you just did again then it is your job to give detail to your claim. It is also curious that your response is the finger pointing instead of actually dealing with what is right here right now and not that someone else did something else.

So two things, who is my people and what did those people do precisely? I am not making that claim this is yours 100% yours...so explain your claim. Problem is that US is a failing democracy.  Naturalization weakens democracy because of federal takeover of state or local election administration.  For example, counting ballots.  However "For the people act" strengthens democracy and government accountability as in other countries.    Make voting easier, limit big money influence and mandate nonpartisan commissions to draw electoral maps.
