Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., said Wednesday during his trip to El Salvador that he "won't rest" until Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a suspected MS-13 member who was deported to a mega prison in his home country, is brought back to the United States.
Van Hollen has described the man as "wrongfully abducted" and traveled to El Salvador in an attempt to discuss efforts to bring the man back to Maryland, where he was living illegally.
"And to have a senator from Maryland who didn't even acknowledge or barely acknowledge my daughter, and the brutal death that she endured, leaving her five children without a mother and now a grand baby without a grandmother, so that he can use my taxpayer money to fly to El Salvador to bring back someone that's not even an American citizen," she said. I meant to address this with some actual data and numbers about why you should never, ever get out of the market during crisis events.
Over a 10 year period in the S&P you are going to get a ~10% return despite it dealing with multiple crisis events.
The problem with stepping out of the market is that if you miss the top 10 days in a 20 year period — you will slash your returns by 50%.
Basically, it comes down to 3 things that matter: GDP, jobs and corporate earnings. It will not matter what the FED does, what trade wars do, or what the global war situation is.
If the growth is high, if there are jobs and if companies are making money then the markets will be fine longterm. It will always come down to the economy and how well it is doing.
When investors say ‘buy the dip’ it can mean different things to different investors.
The classic example used is three investors: Cautious Charlie, Average Andy, and Daring Dave. Each of them invest $100 into the S&P at the beginning of each month. When the market goes below 10% of the previous all-time high, each investor reacts differently.

Here is an analogy; The average Raw Sewage is comprised of 99% clean water and 1% poo. That 1% ruins it for all so we use physical, chemical, and biological systems to get the poo out. We only want the clean water.
