    @UNIMAN

     That was simply the total amount and it included that as part of the program along with other things that should be questioned when it comes to foreign aid.
    All of these various contraceptive programs globally the USA gave over $70M to last year.
    That should be examined and questioned.

    Then they halted the $40M they were about to give to WHO because they withdrew from it.

    These things need to be scrutinized — especially when the money can be better spent at home.

    https://www.tampafp.com/american-taxpayers-bought-65-million-condoms-for-foreign-countries/

    65.5 million condoms, 9.8 million injectable birth control products and 334,000 IUDs abroad in fiscal year 2022

    of all these countries, are you telling me they get free birth contraceptives on the US taxpayer?  What country comes in second place behind the US in the free condom supply?

    Afghanistan,Angola,Bangladesh,Benin,Burkina Faso,Burundi,Cambodia,Cameroon,Cote d'Ivoire,Democratic Republic of the Congo,Egypt,Ethiopia,Ghana,Guatemala,Guinea,Haiti,India,Jordan,Kenya,Liberia,Madagascar,Malawi,Mali,Mauritania,Mozambique,Nepal,Niger,Nigeria,Pakistan,Philippines,Rwanda,Senegal,Sierra Leone,South Sudan,Timor-Leste,Togo,Uganda,United Republic of Tanzania,Yemen,Zambia,Zimbabwe

    I think the government needs to wire me some rent money that was late because I needed a jimmy hat all those years ago. wtf over!!

     Looks like Biden's last-gasp attempt to bribe voters has been nixed.....

    The U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals put a final end to former President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness plan on Tuesday.

    Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey originally sued the Biden administration over its $500 million effort to wipe away student loans, known as the SAVE plan. The court's Tuesday ruling found that Biden's secretary of education had "gone well beyond this authority by designing a plan where loans are largely forgiven rather than repaid."

    "Though Joe Biden is out of office, this precedent is imperative to ensuring a President cannot force working Americans to foot the bill for someone else's Ivy League debt," Bailey said in a statement.

    College attendees who paid their debts for higher education, got nothing under Biden’s scheme.

    @SarasotaSlim

      It was a vote-buying scheme & nothing more.......& it failed in more ways than that.

     What a short sided partisan comment. Only selfish republicans on social security would fail to see the value in higher education and acknowledging that higher ed inflation has outstripped CPI for decades.

    Why make a poor comment like that?

    @SarasotaSlim

     Nope...that is not why it failed, would you like to try again? This time look at your own partisan party for the answer, how can it be a bait and switch when it was submarined by the GOP? Biden intended to follow through with it AND MORE...the reason it failed was your party because it was not a deserving use of government funds per your partisan party. You would rather spend on wars and walls than to forward the future of our society via education credits.

    Unbeknownst to you. I have had a couple of heated conversations with Lefties who believe from the very bottom of their liberal heart that other people (taxpayers) should pay for their son's or daughter's college education! Unbelievable conversations!

    @sundance

     Here? You do not have conversations with people here so it must be somewhere else. Here you throw around partisan trash comments and try to bait others by dividing discussion.

    So where is this magical conversation? Do you feel the same way about giving aid to farmers and oil companies, to Tesla and Northrop for their business purposes? Is your disdain about government spending limited to partisan selfish pursuits like Musk or are you truly concerned with a balanced budget and stopping the REAL leaks from spending?

    Investing in a higher education has much more value to a society than subsidizing ethanol/corn or milk prices and for sure much more than giving higher profit margins for Musk and for defense contractors.

    It wasn't submarined by the GOP....it was ended by The U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals..

    "You would rather spend on wars and walls than to forward the future of our society via education credits."

    This is a ridiculous statement..since President Trump is one of the few Presidents with no new war were started during his presidency

    It sounds as if you need a good nap! Our conversation is only about Lefties wanting and expecting others to pay for their child's meaningless and useless Liberal Arts degree. That is all! In case you missed the news. Daddy is back! MAGA!

    @SarasotaSlim

     Why did it go to the courts exactly? Did the RNC take corn or cow subsidies to the court? No...

    Government spending is all about who gets the freebies and for students there is no lobby or corporate thugs buying political capital so why do some government spends go forward without a whisper while others get stomped on?

    Why do freebies for tech and for solar and for EVs and for oil companies and for banks that are going under sail right through but student debt gets harpooned?

    I see more value in conditionally offsetting school debt than most of what I named above but there is no PACS or lobby or big donors greasing palms and since there is no financial motivation for GOP politicians magically this got challenged and taken down.

    Shocking.

    @wallstreetcappers

    Four years ago, Biden made a promise to fix a broken student loan system...

    However,Biden and his administration misled students into believing their debt would simply disappear, despite the law being clear that a taxpayer-funded bailout is blatant executive overreach....Biden was even touting this plan just days before he had to step down ...

    Even before the federal appeals court ruled that the Biden did not have the authority to pursue a student loan forgiveness plan.... He and his Administration knew this ...Because a Supreme Court ruling blocked the White House initial student loan forgiveness plan in 2023...

    On another note ..you seem to have sidestepped commenting on the ridiculous statement about

    "You would rather spend on wars and walls than to forward the future of our society via education credits."

    and ...since it doesn't hold water ....I can see why...as I posted President Trump is one of the few Presidents with no new war were started during his presidency..

    now that's    SHOCKING

    Myth is that Trump is anti-war.  He worsened existing wars and brought US to the brink of new wars.  For examples, Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran and North Korea.  Increasing number of drone strikes and civilian deaths.  His trade wars against China and other countries were damaging to the US.

    Why do your posts about Trump often fail the eye test and defy logic?

    @SarasotaSlim

     So what US fronted war was started during Biden or Obama? Starting a war is not even close to the same as funding a side...we fund sides all day long every year no matter the peace or calm in the world. That is actually my precise point..why does funding for military purposes and especially not directly related to the safety of the US get carte blanche while student loan aid gets cracked in the head?

    Biden didnt start Ukraine, he didnt start the Israel massacre of Gaza and all the Canaanites no more than Trump started events going on right now.
