AARHUS, Denmark (AP) — Denmark launched its presidency of the European Union on Thursday with a call for Europe to unite to take on war in Ukraine and chaos caused by U.S. President Donald Trump’s global tariff hike which are likely to mark the Nordic country’s six-month term at the helm of the world’s biggest trading bloc.
“We have war on European soil. We face trade wars, and new tariffs, and we have our closest ally, in the United States, turning increasingly inward,” said Danish European Affairs Minister Marie Bjerre. “Europe can no longer be in the shadow of the United States. We need now to stand on our own two feet.”
Prime Minister Mette Fredericksen and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen were in the western city of Aarhus for a day of celebratory events as Denmark started its eighth EU presidency since joining in 1973.

Forgotten is that US relies on foreign capital to support financial markets. Global investors no longer expect US economy to outperform rest of the world. US stocks under perform stocks in Europe and elsewhere. US dollar has fallen to lowest level since 1973 because of Trump bad economic policies. A weaker dollar means higher inflation and less purchasing power for American consumers.

Hehe they can’t even spell her name correctly :) but it is also just the 4th most “important” person in the world atm
Why do you think the 5% of GDP is a good thing ? Trump has made us not trust you so we will for the most part use these money in developing our own weapon industry (or buy from other partners) - the reason you guys demilitarised us 80 years ago - was because you wanted us to be depended on you and use our money in your weapon industry (while you dictated the world order) - this is one of the worst thing that has happened to your country internationally in my lifetime

And it is actually pretty fun to me you “want” this :) the only time our two weapon industries has fought for the joy of it (like a war game) we won - when HSMS Gotland won versus your submarine even though it costed 60 times less - we have the technology, the money and the wits to outsmart you with this if we decide to put effort into it - at least give you a good run for your money - and it is you that have almost all of the enemies and soon none to fund your military and weapon industry - but I personally hope we will treat you like a cousin that has gone insane for 4 years and we can talk again when you have developed a brain

HSMS Gotland won versus your submarine even though it costed 60 times less.. A Swedish diesel submarine...........
It still won? And Sweden is one of the biggest weapon producers we have? So don't know what your point is? - They also make some of the most advanced Fighter Jets in the world - and this is all something that has happened in an economy where we have not used our money developing our own systems - but have just funded yours - that was my main point - the thing you guys are applauding here - is that a competitor that has a higher population than you and almost as much money - starts funding their own weapon industries rather than yours - which seems weird to me to applaud as a good thing for you guys

Yeah, we should have let Nazi Germany rule you and stayed out of Europe. If only you folks in Europe could have kept your shit together and not start world wars.

You did that because you wanted to have influence over Europe and not let the Sovjet Union free us by themselves - and because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor - as I have told you a billion times by now you didn't do anything you did back then to help anyone but yourself (which also explain I don't have more gratitude to any Americans apart from the ones that fought themselves during ww2) - that you helped setting us free was just a nice side effect - if it was to help us you would have joined years earlier - because it was a known fact for long before you joined that he tortured us, killed j.ews etc. - It is exactly the same we see in Ukraine now - your government and most of your population don't give two flying fucks about anyone but yourself

Of course, we have had many wars here. We are one of the smallest continents in terms of size, but one of the most diverse and populated. That is a recipe for disaster. We have four countries that have sought world domination at some point (and they all still think they are more important than anyone else). I am actually kind of proud that we have had fewer wars lately than the Middle East, because they basically only have religion to fight over. We have everything you can imagine to fight over.

@UNIMAN Don't waste your time arguing with someone from a pip-squeak country ..that want's to take credit for something Sweden did .......
You really need to learn how things work in the world - EU functions like US more or less (even if you are stupid enough not to know this - you can see it with the tariffs that Trump try to put on us - then it has to be done as a block of countries and not on an individual level since that isn't possible) - Your Submarine is also produced in a couple of states at best - yet you are all able to claim pride in producing it as a country -- and Swedens weapon industry is as much mine as that is yours (if it is produced in another state than you live in) - esp. if we start having an EU army which is what they start going for now - then we are 1 to 1 like US - APART from us having the biggest internal market in the world - so our economy will boom under a militarisation - a boom so big you can only dream of that

Btw you know if I highlight something Sweden does as good then it has been pretty insane what they did - Denmark has been at war with Sweden more than 40 times through history (the most wars between two nations on planet earth - and we have basically tried wipe each other out for close to 800 years - if you want context how much it hurts me to highlight anything those surstrøm eating fuckers accomplish)

And call me crazy but I think we can easier survive without Facebook and google than you can without life saving medicine and almost every advanced machinery that help all your markets grow in potential income - but we will see who blinks first if the idiot goes through with the tarrifs that will be a nail biting conclusion when he face the Goliath in world trade

and yet it is true (I could live in Sweden tomorrow and for the rest of my life if I wanted - no requirements - basically exactly like you could with a state - and all our economies is webbed into each other to an extend no other place work as example for how it works than US - and you clearly don’t know how EU works at all)
