and Brown Lives Matter. And White Intersex College Student Lives Matter.
There were two more heartbreaking police shootings in the past week. I'm not going to post links to stories because that's not my shtick. The stories won't be hard to find in one is so inclined. Both involving people who suffered from mental illness, in one case a man who was deaf and mute. Neither victim seems to have had a criminal record or violent history.
Look, we can spend our time with these ridiculous arguments that amount to nothing more that racial rhetoric and finger pointing. We can continue with the, "Liberals are just blah, blah, blah...CHICAGO!" "Well, you conservatives are all just this and that...." We can continue to, as mooch would say, suck our own c*cks. Or we can address the real elephant in the room. And that is the training standards, and the vetting process, of police officers in this country. There are many officers who go out and do wonderful jobs everyday. The majority of them, in fact, but there are far too many who aren't living up to the standards of a profession that carries that kind of responsibility. If the amount of patients dying in surgery spiked to epidemic levels, we wouldn't say, "...but what about all the doctors that aren't killing people." We would identify the problem. There is a real problem. And we need to address it.

Number of people on mind or mood altering medications has exploded.

Number of people on welfare has exploded.

But I'm sure none of this has anything to do with it. Cops are just racist idiots. Even the black ones.

There is a real policing problem.

    Ok. I agree.

And you malign a group within that race trying to bring attention to disproportionate police abuse among the black and brown races. And no rational person denies that.

Honestly, the same thread titles come from the bigots here.

I believe you don't know what you type many times.

You worry about police abuse overall and BLM will have a focal point of that abuse. There's no problem with that.

Disproportionate number of black and brown people are violent criminals, on welfare, raised in broken homes and are FAR more likely to have run ins with the police.

Does that have anything to do with "disproportionate police abuse among the black and brown races"?

Police in America have been kicking azz, and taking names for over a hundred years, nothing new. has anyone ever encountered a mild mannered cop? just the way it is, hire a person with a high school  education, give him a 9mm, and what do you have? someone who's already terrified of nigga's with his finger on the trigger to protect himself, not to enforce the law, bottom line, white cops who shoot to kill African-Americans, are simply scared to death of Black folks, any threat to them results in border line murder on there part. Just saying

I find it utterly ironic that the first I'm hearing about these "non-black" police shootings is from a black man, but anyways.....

I just read the story of the one that happened with the deaf/mute in Oklahoma City:

    https://metro.co.uk/2017/09/21/deaf-man-shot-dead-by-police-despite-neighbours-shouting-he-cant-hear-you-6944668/

Very sad, very tragic, the man had no criminal history, the police just happened to be there investigating something else, once again, no body cameras on the cops, and all the neighbors are shouting "HE'S DEAF! HE CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!" to the police.

So, why isn't this running 24/7 on the news channels? Why isn't Al Sharpton, BLM, clogging up the streets in protest? Where's Scal's term paper on it?

    Exactly.....

One of these days everyone will wise up, and treat this like any other civilian case. Was the officer following protocol? Fine. If not, it gets treated just like any other murder case - REGARDLESS OF YOUR FU##ING COLOR!!!!!

    Thank you.

I find it utterly ironic that the first I'm hearing about these "non-black" police shootings is from a black man, but anyways.....

I just read the story of the one that happened with the deaf/mute in Oklahoma City:

Scal, honestly, I don't think you know what you type half of the time. You really must be an idiot, or at very least, blind. Only you, or maybe one of these bigots you love to call out, could find negativity with what I wrote. You say I malign a certain group but where is the prove of this? It is a narrative you have made up in your own head.
And detox clearly has racist agendas because he's bringing race politics into a thread that has nothing to do with race. So according to you it's OK for the police to shoot people because they "might be" on welfare? Even though in most cases they are not. It's OK to shoot innocent minorities because they "might be" criminals even though in many cases they have no criminal record.

Honestly, you two are opposite sides of the same coin. And you prove a point I made in my post perfectly. That the people in these threads love to argue, name call, use race based rhetoric, connect every issue to their own personel and political agendas, but very few, if any, ever say, "Ok, let's have a mature conversation about about what the issues are, from the perspective of both sides? How do we address these things? How do we grow as a society?" Instead we have grown men who use emojis at a rate that rivals adolescent Japanese girls. That says a lot.

Scal is a character who hides behind this image he's crafted for himself. I don't believe he is a bad guy, and I don't want to get into another of our well documented arguments. I've tried to move past our shared history on this site. He makes it very hard to do this.
To address Scal, and Betting, the point of my post wasn't to discredit the notion that police are shooting members of my race and community at alarming rates. It's to address this simple fact: Police aren't any more racist than they were in the 90's. Nor the 80's. The 70's. The 60's, ect. There have always been cops that are 100% racist, those that are just slightly prejudiced, and those that are completely indiscriminatory, just doing their jobs. The world isn't more racist than it was even 20 years?ago. So there are issues, in addition but not limited to, race that are at play. And i'm looking for answers rather than crying on facebook. Or twitter. Or covers.

May not be on point but in my view it is patently unfair that our society places such a burden on police officers to be in effect the primary handlers of those w mental health issues (Homeless, etc).  They are not qualified and should not be placed in that position.  This is another of our dirty little secrets, and I get that some of it relates to the pendulum swinging too far in regard to privacy type concerns, but it seems that we as a society can do better.   These mental health issues are becoming more prevalent and I'm guessing we all know some1 struggling with related issues.   Should also be a factor in however we decide the current debate on healthcare.

This is totally on point and I agree with you 100%. The attention given to mental health, or the lack there of, is an issue I am a champion of. And it's at the root of many issues that we face today, i.e. mass/school shootings, suicides, drug use, ect. And when something like a school shooting happens, we turn it into a gun control debate rather than focusing our attention on the real issue. Thank you for contributing something of substance. That was the point of the thread. Detox, Scal...they didn't get the memo.

There's no problem with that.

just as i take a break to read this, my partner comes in and tells me about this body camera footage he's watching.  we're starting to get more body cam footage when the police can be bothered to actually turn it on or don't mind recording what they are about to do.

anyway, generally the way many of these street arrests work is some police officer gets to the scene first adn does some initially "investigation" such as it is, and then calls in someone else, either more qualified or a superior or just backup.  the second officer gets there and asks the first officer what happened so far and then whatever bullshit they make up (or perhaps largely the truth in some circumstances) is what goes in the report.

anyway, this is much better if you could see the video, but when the second officer arrives, the first officer starts to talk but the second officer stops him and says in a forceful voice, wait a second, you need to know i have my body camera on.

the sh*t these guys say and do on camera is scary when you think about what they do when they know they can get away with it.

There are thousands of crimes committed.  The media picks and chooses what to broadcast.  They love to stir the pot.  Why?????   cause it makes money.  It is a shame what has happened.  But a few isolated incidents  does not make policing bad.

See this is always the default excuse for police ABUSE.

This is why I can't stand humanity. It's responses like this.

We are talking about ABUSE. Nothing justifies extrajudicial murder or brutality. Get it detox? No. Ok. You never have.

    Now who doesn't make sense?

Your thread title is EXACTLY what the WORST bigots here type. You don't even know how you sound.

It is profoundly sad that as a man of black skin hue you choose to make company with these people and say the things you do.

It is a profound disgrace to your race, regardless of the racism you are subject to.

Have a good one. Better yet, continue on disgracing your race. Disgusting.

A white man is a better representation of your race than a black one.

    Disgusting.

As god as my witness I've never seen someone more confused.

As least the white shi*head racists here live up to their prejudices (and truly they are POS of the highest order).

But you as a black man don't even know what you are with such a thread title.

    Wake up.
