Trump would be a dictator if he had the means to do so.  He just can't do it because he would need to remove judges from their positions and structure the court system to be rigged in his favor.  A country's constitution also ends up being redacted or is completely rewritten.  Trump can't do either of those things.  Republicans won't allow it.  How is the trade deficit doing?  Are you kidding me, dude?  Trump increased the trade deficit last year!  We are importing more goods!  He does not have a damn plan to change that.  I can't speak about a 401k but I've seen some people complaining on articles about them losing value and so I have to presume Americans aren't happy about it.

You want to discuss the global perspective?  Trump lost his balls during that press conference with Putin and was deferential.  Where was the tough-talking Trump who doesn't mince words and insults our allies?  You know, the countries we normally work with and have strong relations with, too?  It was embarrassing to watch and proved what a stooge this guy is for Putin.  You didn't actually think I watched that and was convinced Trump is an amazing and strong leader, did you?  I laughed and thought how transparent the whole affair looked.  Look, you won't understand my perspective but I think it's embarrassing to admit you voted for Trump.  It tells me you're gullible or sleazy.  It's information you shouldn't be disclosing to anyone.  You are compromising yourself in the process.  That doesn't mean I'm hostile to everyone who's a Trump supporter.  I know how to work with people.  I'm just suggesting that it allows me to make an easy generalization and no, I don't care if you're insulted.

Journalism, in general, has fallen to shite. It doesn't matter if you're covering the white house or the Pittsburgh Steelers these guys (and gals) suck. They don't use a proper journalistic process, they're questions are often loaded (at best), if not all out inappropriate. Worst of all, the have this arrogance and sense if entitlement. We've gotten to a point where reporters think they are as big of stars as the people the cover. So they act out. Like I said, it's bigger than Jim Acosta. I feel the same way about sports beat writers.

I agree with this. Very well put.
This is one of the reasons a Popovich or Belichick seem so testy sometimes. Certainly, the reporters have a job to do and must ask the obvious, or loaded questions. Like when they went for it on fourth down and it failed —- why did they go for it?  Or when Trump knows he is going to be asked a certain question.  None of these guys are polished politicians that are deft at swerving these types of questions or giving a bland answer —- nor, do they care to. The reporters have to realize this at some point and move on.  Guys that are head coaches, CEOs, etc, have a huge ego, of course, and are simply not used to answering to folks if they don’t want to.
Part of their job is to answer questions, so they should do it as adeptly as possible.  But some of the reporters make it difficult. I think Trump has shown a lot of restraint, for the most part at some of these press conferences. But for sure, he could improve.  But some reporters just try to egg these guys on and make a scene.
But in their defense, they really don’t have that many opportunities to ask questions and feel a sense of urgency to get their question answered.  And I am sure it is frustrating when they don’t get a direct answer —- they then feel the need to press.
But, I agree with you.  It does seem the level of journalistic questioning has really dropped off quite a bit in recent years.  Maybe because we are in the sound bite era now.

You are right Stu....President Trump took 68 questions from 35 reporters... and if follow-up questions are included, the number climbs closer to 90.........During the hour and a half  long press conference the hostility from some of the out of control media was on full display..

Acosta is an ass. He thinks it’s “ his show” and we’re all invited to listen in if we choose.

Well Jim, we vote with Nielsen.

    Hasta la vista, baby.

Of course, everything about it is wrong. Obviously, the sole reason Trump fired Sessions was to appoint Whitaker who already is on record basically echoing Trumps BS about the investigation being a witchhunt & already prejudging that there was no conspiracy before knowing anything. Just another abuse of potus power & desperate  attempt at obstructing and controlling the Mueller investigation. He used a recess appt to get his corrupt lackey in as acting AG without being senate confirmed & while he has the authority to do it, it seems to fly in the face of the constitution & may not stand though impossible to see Whitaker recusing himself.

Trump's running scared & doing all he can to try to protect his presidency, himself & his family. In time, he'll run out of rope & go down in supreme disgrace one way or another. And noone will have earned it more.

This guy will not recuse himself. Don't see it happening. His comments regarding the investigation have no bearing on his ability to interpret law.

I hear Schiff will head the House Intelligence Committee, kinda' the same thing.

I agree...unless he's forced to. He's already displayed extreme bias & that should automatically disqualify him. Schiff now heading the HIC after what turned into a significant blue wave still rising is not even close to the same thing.

Funny Slim, though I do kinda like her passion & spunk. Hard to say going forward. After the shameful, corrupt & embarrassing Trump debacle is over, hopefully the younger ones & more women might usher in a future political era where the norm is at least closer to what public servants actions & motivations should be. On both sides of the aisle.

The cabinet serves at the leisure of the President.  He picks them and the Senate confirms the nominations.  The power of the executive branch has grown do to Congress inability to use anything. For nearly 2 decades executive action is a far more effective tool in governing than legislatures or even slower courts.

But make no mistake whether Secretary. Director or ambassador levels. All serve at the discretion of the President.

    Really...Who holds ALL the power........

House Demo"rats" with Subpeona powers.......how did that work out for majority GOP House  and their "vaunted" supposive similar UNANSWERED repeated requests....

    Always UNFULFILLED..expect  the SAME......

I,  for one, sincerely HOPE Democratic nutjobs continue down this disasterous "path"of governing....

Remember..DJT gets to "PICK" his  AG to head  the  future US Head Law Enforcememt official.....i.e. Eric Holder...for BOH..
Whitaker merely fills in while APPOINTING a CRIPPLING Second Special Prosecutor to counterbalance ANY House inquiries..with far more POWER to indict anybody who might be guilty.....

    Watch what you Wish for...

cry me a river!!!!!!!!!  That poor intern!!!what horrible behavior....give me a damn break man, were we watching the same video?? I saw nothing inappropriate about that at all.  The only thing I saw there was someone acting very bizarre and throwing a tantrum because he isn't getting his way.
You saw nothing wrong because you're probably the type that hits girls and says, "What's the big deal? Girls are just people. Equal rights." He's a man that got physical with a woman who was just trying to do her job. Nothing wrong with that, huh?

man, you got a lot of nerve assuming that I hit girls!! You don't know one thing about me or who I am.

I simply gave my opinion about what I saw in the video(s), and I really don't think that interaction was so shocking.  There is no question he made contact with her(which he clearly apologized for), but you have to remember that the act of an employee of the white house trying to grab a microphone from a reporter is unheard of and incredibly rare.  I'm sure Acosta was a bit surprised and in the heat of the moment moved his arm down to stop here.    He surely didn't "karate" chop her or "place" his arm/hand on her.   This is a classic case of rapid narrative formation, and it gave the white house an excuse to pull the guys credentials.       Look, I'm not trying to defend Acosta or his behavior, I am just going by what I saw with own eyes

Gen. Michael Flynn ..oh yeah..  Gen Flynn ... That's the one Obama fired for disagreeing with him deliberately downplayed al Qaeda’s strength ( al-Qaeda was "on the run.") before the run-up to the 2012 presidential election...

Far from "on the run" then or now...al-Qaeda has amassed the largest fighting force in its existence. Estimates (2018) say it may have more than 20,000 militants in Syria and Yemen alone.

It boasts affiliates across North Africa, the Levant and parts of Asia, and it remains strong around the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

Too bad President Obama didn't listen to the General..

This isn't about President O although he inherited the mess that Bush, Cheney & Rummy left. In fact President O told Piggy that Flynn was damaged goods but that POS who knows everything didn't listen.

This is about a disgraced General who conspired with the Russians regarding sanctions, never reported income from his work in Turkey & lied to the FBI 10 times. Worst of all, he involved his son in his crimes.
