What is your poker strategy for SnGs?

Due to some questionable happenings, I have started playing many more SnGs. I hate how slow the action is and how it will sometimes take SOOO long to win a measly $10.00 profit (if you finish in the money), but I finish in the money a large percentage of the time and am wondering if anybody else that does well in the SnGs has a proven strategy?

I guess the biggest or best strategy I have found is just folding like a mad man early on. Unless I have a very good hand, I will fold like crazy and let the morons at the table take each other out. I ALWAYS see people go all in with junk and basically wait on them to get rid of each other. That takes the table of 9 players down to 5 or 6 and then I'll start playing my 'normal' game.

Another thing: Once we're down to 5 or 6 people, if I'm in on a hand and somebody moves all in, I will always fold unless I'm holding A-A basically. By this time, there are usually shorter stacks or at least 1 large stack that will call the all in and I just hope to see 1 more person disappear and take the table down to one less person.

Really, everything else is situational but these are two things that I do every time. Yes, it makes the game pretty boring for awhile when it starts, but the strategy takes a 9 person table down to 4 or 5 people and the top 3 will make money. Of course my goal is to finish 1st, but hitting the money a large percentage of the time is more realistic and you're still making money that way. Also, you can count on the morons to eliminate each other and make your odds better. It's like clockwork. A lot of those people shove right away, and do it often, because their strategy is to double up their stack right away or just get the hell out of the tournament. So either they have money to waste or they are too stupid to realize how much money they are actually losing. Quite honestly, I depend on hitting just 1 or possibly 2 pots and most of the time that will get me down to the final 4 at the table. Then it's a matter of 1 person leaving before you are guaranteed money. The only bad thing about this strategy is that I usually find myself up against a larger stack when it comes time to play heads up, however, one nice hand can even the stacks up and you're already making money by then.

So any other strategies or tips that work for you in SnGs in particular? this is most likely what I'll be playing since rakes aren't involved and I honestly trust the software more since they make their money with the buy in, up front. You can't make money as fast, but if you play multi tables and do turbos and finish in the top 3 on a regular basis, you can make pretty decent money per hour. I figure being up even just $20 or $30 per hour on $6.50 SnGs multi tables isn't too bad at all.

so how much is your goal to make everyday playing sngs?  People definetly make a living playing online.

Play it slow early and aggressive late. 

Double or nothin sit n gos are great especially at PKR and 888 play slow let the the idiots knock themselves out.

it's not about folding like a mad man, it's just about playing abc poker throughout. that is, play pockets no lower than 7s or 8s, a10s and up, aj and up, suited connectors in position and just position in general when the spot is right. post flop, don't 'make a play' unless you have reason to do so. pretty simple, just entails a high degree of discipline. works (or has worked bc i haven't been playing recently) for me up to the 20$ range. for a while my roi was up in the high 30s maybe higher, but i got/get carried away playing mtt's.

Oz, I don't get crazy at all with multi tables. I fee like I'm missing too much information and calculations when I do it. Sometimes I just play one table at a time. But if I do multi, I will play a max of 3 tables for now. On FTP, you have 15 seconds to act, I believe it is. I like to look for trends and see how people are playing, so doing 5 or even 10 tables at once....I don't think I'd profit from it. Mike Matasow once said he plays 30 tables at once, and I'm sure those are ring games. I just don't see how that can be done when you have 15 seconds to make a play on Full Tilt.

As far as the Double or Nothing: I need to sign up for Pokerstars, I guess....or some place that has those. I am almost positive FTP doesn't offer them. If they do, I have never seen them offered.

Steady: "Folding like a mad man." basically means I fold all day early on unless I do have premium hands. Depending on the situation, I fold away middle pocket pairs sometimes when it's early on.....unless I can see a flop for cheap, that is.

I disagree somewhat. Play more hands early when the blinds are lower, and don't be afraid to push all-in if you think you have the best of it.  For the most part, let the cards come to you and be patient.  But don't be so tight early, or you will pushing all-in later with coin flips due to the higher blinds.

thats the ticket. with small sit and go's you dont need a huge chip lead.
play tight in the early stages. No need to mix it up early when everyone has the chips to make stupid loose calls.

wait it out and get a feel of the table on who is loose and who is tight

what are SnGs, short games? 

I play tight until those 2-3 call anything people are out, then after I get a tight rep, I loosen up a bit until there are 2-3 people left, then I tighten up again and wait for that sneaky straight/pocket kings/etc. hand and take it down to H/U.  Then I play it like any other H/U tourney... which is to say that I study my opponent's behavior and let them hang themselves.
