I was in a larger than normal home game.  33 people to be exact.  Its down to the final 5.  I just had my pretty large chip stack crippled by a bad beat.
the blinds are  500/1000  with 100 ante  My chipstack is now 1600.
I throw in my ante and the dealer tells me im on the big blind so I throw in my 1000. (stack now at 500).
I get dealt 2  6 offsuit.  The table folds around to the small blind and then the dealer realizes that she screwed up the blinds (which IMO is the fault of everyone at the table, especially those in the blinds,
ME )   Anyways, the dealer gives me my blind back (chip stack back to 1500) and tells one player to put in their small blind, which he surrenders saying he would have folded anyways (good thing his cards were already mucked).  The big blind puts in his 1000 and he says check and they ask me what I want to do.
So I think that next hand I have to go all-in with whatever 2 cards I have anyway, so I go all-in with my thinking being at least I have it isolated to 1 oppenent instead of 4.

He has A  J  offsuit (of course he calls) and I lose the hand.  No big deal really.  Just curious if you guys think that my thinking was right having one player isolated with 2  6 off and going all in at that point knowing that I will have a better hand next hand but there could be 3 or 4 other players in the next hand.

P.S.   All 5 players were alright with the screw up and did not call misdeal and I surely did not want a misdeal knowing everyone folded and I had someone isolated before I would be blinded out anyway.

    a.  if you dont recognize right away that you are or arent supposed to be big blind, then you have no business near a poker table.  seriously bro, how did that happen??

    b.  if everyone folded up to the big blind w/o a preflop raise, then chances are they threw away a lot of 2's 6's and all the cards in between that could have helped

    c.  if i am you, i want more ppl in the hand.  if you just double up, big deal, youre probably still short stacked, and considerin you can't do much worse than 6 2 off, i would have folded

    d.  before i folded, i would have given the bitch hell about the misdeal.  i would put up a huge stink and say that the whole hand waseffected by the mistake.

I mean, you werent really in a situation that had many possible happy endings.  i can say its not what i would have done, but i cant say it was the absolute wrong move, since you were real desperate.  either way, odds are you were done after losing on the bad beat

You should have called misdeal this way you get one more free deal.  Than your big blind deal.

    a.  I totally agree, my mind was gone after that bad beat

    b.  remember that there was only 5 players left including myself.  Only 10 cards out there.

    c.  Good point, more people in the hand when its desperation time would give me a nicer pot to get back
         in the game.

    d.  Mistakes happen and I would have given her shit but we all agreed including myself that the hand would
continue to be played out.  And remember, I made this decision based on my thought of having someone
         already isolated.

Thanks for the feedback Youngone, I see what your saying and I actually couldnt say right now that I would play it differently next time.  It's kind of up in the air.  But there are other mistakes that I made during this time that I need to work on also

I agree, you should have called misdeal...with only 1600 left, you were getting called no matter what the big blind had, you had quite possibly the worst hand in poker, even though you take the chance of more callers in the next hnad, you have to take your chances on a better hand. like the one guy said, if you only double up, you are still short stacked. take your chances with undoubtable a better hand next deal.

I agree with others, with only 1600 left you were going to be called by the BB with any 2 cards.  6-2 off were not the cards to play there.  With your chipstack there were not a lot of options, but I think it would be better to take your chances on the next hand.

Sorry, but some of the advice given here is just flat out terrible.

You shouldn't have even looked at your cards. You're all-in no matter what there. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about.

    a. Agreed

    b. There's no way of telling what hands players had. It's quite possible people folded A7.

    c. You want exactly the opposite of this. You want to be isolated to improve your odds. Believing 2 6 is a better hand with more opponents involved is illogical.

    d. Would you have done the same if you were dealt AA?

That is a retarded line of thinking dakota, i dont care how short stacked he is, if he looks down and sees 6 fucking 2, the hand that is only better than 3 other hands, he should fold because the guy with 1k invested and has to call 500 more is obviously gonna call and odds would say he has better than 6 high AND also the odds are that he (guy calling from the blind) will be at least a 2-1 favorite in the hand, only needing 2 cards over 6. Hes not in the blinds and chances are, he will get better cards than 6 high the next hand dealt.

and to answer D, hell ya i wouldve done it if i had aces, i wouldve in fact given the dealer more hell to pay, because i wouldve made her redeal the hand in the first place before even knowing what my cards were, and then when i look down and see they were aces, id have been fucking pissed off. It shouldnt matter what your cards are, when the dealer screws up, it messes up everything about the hand, disrupts the flow of the game, and is just irritating as hell.

It doesn't matter that 6 2 is one of the worst hands in poker. You had two LIVE CARDS. In case you don't know (which I can pretty much say for sure you don't), you have a 36% chance of winning that hand. It costs you $500 to win the current pot of $2,000 (20%).

36% > 20% so its an INSTANT ALL IN SITUATION. You are pot committed at that point. Chances are there will be several players involved in the next hand, offering much lower odds from the odds you have from this hand.

If you still disagree, I suggest you read Theory of Poker by Slansky or at least understand how to calculate probabilities before arguing a point that you have no reason to be arguing.

Dakota.. i think you misread this guy's situation (or maybe I did).... because of the blind mistake, he was not invested in the pot with the big blind (only the $100 ante)... i'm assuming he should have been the player under the gun had the hand been played without the blind mistakebut.. anyways, he was not pot committed at anytime since only $100 of his original $1,600 was in the $2,000 pot...

Going all in will get an auto-call from the big blind since it's only 500 for him to call (7 to 1 odds)... assuming that, thaute would be risking his 1,500 to win the 2,500 (500 antes, 500 sb, 1500 bb)... and with 6 2, he would not be getting the right price to make that play... fold and hope for a miracle on the next hand...

i really hope dakota misunderstood, because if that is the advice he is giving, then that really is depressing.

no disrespect man, but are you seroius.  i wont call a fucking 2 dollar big blind in a 1/2 game with that hand, even if i am the small blind.  next hand can be fuckind 9 4, and guess waht, its still better than 6 2

He mis-understood.  He says it costs "$500 to win $2000" which is not correct as 1. The guy with the 2-6 was NOT in the BB and he would have been pushing with his $1500, and 2. It would have been $1500 to win $2500 as Dewby mentions....(not $2000 because you have to factor in the auto-call from the BB....the extra $500 to play against the 2-6).

IF the guy with the 2-6 is in the BB, Dakota is right.  But in this situation, he would not be getting close to the 3:1 required to make that play.

the whole thing shouldve been a misdeal...didnt the dealer deal everyone "the wrong cards" just based on the fact that the "small blind" got their cards first?

Dakota you miserable fuck, not only are you mixed up when the hand has been clearly pointed out before, but  why in the hell would you come in as an unkonwn, as far as i know, and give advice on calculating odds or some reading. Maybe you should go back to school and learn more on reading comprehension.

You are also a 33% dog to AJ w/ 62, or pretty much any 2 over cards, i know reading isnt your strong point so im guessing math may not as well, so here you go. That may be a small percentage change from your answer, but regardless it is the different between being a worse than 2-1 dog, and not.

Well, after reading the advice and opinions I have come to a couple of  conclusions:

    1. First of all and most important, I decided to not call misdeal b/c I had somebody isolated (granted I knew I had the worst hand going in) but I thought that I had two live cards and I would not be dominated.  I think I want that in that situation.  Having said that it was the stupidest thing I could have done because if I call misdeal I see 1 other hand before my chips are basically committed in the big blind.  I SHOULD HAVE CALLED MISDEAL.

    2.  My decision to go all-in with 6 2 off may not have been the right decision after reading the posts and advice.  Their are many of you here that are more experienced and know your shit about poker more than I do indeed.  I still cant say that I wouldn't have done the same thing though (even though it might not be the play mathematically and statistically).  I like my chances being heads up with two live cards if all my chips will be at risk the next time anyway.  If I roll up 6 2 off and there is 2 or 3 callers in the big blind, I fold.
So if I'm not making sense, then I will try to say it this way, If I called misdeal and I am now under the gun and get dealt 6 2, I definately fold with 4 other players to act after me.  Next hand if I'm dealt the same hand and there are callers (im in the big blind), I check or fold.  If in that same hand everyone folds to the small blind and he puts me all-in, I'm going in. Hopefully that makes sense.

Thanks for the advice guys, I learn alot from all of your posts and topics.

If you had folded the 6-2, you're playing the next hand for sure.  And I GUARANTEE that it would never get called around to you so you could just check it and play the hand with only a few hundred chips in front of you.  If it checks to the SB, he puts you all in.  He has to.  It would be something along the lines of $1000 to win $2500 ($2000 + the $500 you would have left).  That and the possibility to KO you would be all the incentive he would need to pretty much put you all in with any two cards (I'd probably do it even with 2-6 if I were him.  LOL....2.5:1 and the chance to KO someone is awfully attractive).

sounds like there was action, 2 players folded their hands, thats action the hand stands. gotta call misdeal before 2 players act.  isnt that the rule.

NJ devils is right the cards were dealt wrong....At this table, how do you mess up the small and big blinds?? do you guys not play with a button and blind chips??? 98% of people know when they are in the blinds and if you don't realize what had happened, then you deserve to be out...With all due respect, you got dealt someone elses cards you should have raised hell...
And another thing I don't understand is you said you were told to be the big blind and the guy to the right of you is the small.....If everyone folded around to the small blind(who was folding) how did this guy with AJ ever get in the hand??? Was their 2 big blinds at the table??? What the hell I am confused...If everyone folded to the small blind it is only you and the small blind??? What am I missing?? She then says she messes up the blinds and this guy who threw away AJ now says he checks???
