hitting Vegas next weekend and am hoping to play some low limit stuff....would rather not have my money taken within the first 10 minutes....probably bringing max $100 to a table.
any recommendations on places on the strip for a decent begineer level no-limit game

Well, if u want to play NL, u can't play any lower than 1-2. So my advice would be to check out a couple of cardrooms and see how the lineup looks at the 1-2. Then just pick one and go with it. Be confident. GL.
that is all

I've found that the limit game in Vegas is by far the easiest game I've ever played in any state. I was there a couple weeks ago and cleaned up playing 3/6 with a kill. It was the highest limit they had going every night but I still managed to take home almost 900. I can't remember a time where I had a losing session in Vegas.

#1 don't play limit, as chopz said. ppl are in vegas to gamble and will call down w/ anything
#2 $100 isn't enough to play any variation of PL or NL poker you will find in a casino
#3 since you want to play, I recommend the smaller, older, and off the strip rooms (tropicana, orleans) -- there was plenty of $ to be made when i was there in may/june of '06
to you

even more reasons to play limit. just play solid.
Exactly. Why you wouldn't want to sit down with a bunch of tourists and degenerate locals and chew off them for 5-6 hours at a limit game is beyond me. It's worked for me every single time. Especially with the locals...they don't seem as connected with their money as the tourists.

Agreed. You can go buy in at a 3/6 table for 100 and just play very solid starting hands. You'll gain experience, limit your exposure, and probably have a little fun.
But you'll also likely get sucked out on a decent number of times because folks will play a lot of weird hands. But they will also pay you off when you make good hands. I played recently at a local place here and there was a guy that pretty much won every pot he played to the end. Played nothing but VERY solid A's a few suited connectors, and selected pairs. And he didn't chase. He still got paid off a LOT. Some idiots pay ZERO attention to how people play and were just fine continuing to throw their money away with inferior hands.

AND be able to have great drinks for the price of a small tip to the waitress

I can't stand limit...especially low levels....you are just asking for suck outs.
I've played at the Imperial Palace...its pretty close to the Barbary. Its got a small poker room but its usually filled up and the players are pretty horrendous. Their tourny buy ins are pretty low too.
That place and Treasure Island (Mirage too)are pretty easy...stay away from places like bellagio, venetian and cesar's. There are much easier joints than them.

It doesn't matter if you play Limit or NL, play what you are comfortable with. If you play NL I believe the Luxor has a $50 max buy-in for their 1/2 game. Personally I hate this, but it may be what you are looking for with your bankroll. Tropicana or Excalibur are less busy casinos with lower stakes. I believe the Trop pretty much only runs a 1/2 game most of the time. Excalibur has 2/4 limit and a 1/3 and 2/6 spread limit games, they also run a 1/2 game as well.
The "competition" at almost any casino will be the same, just figure out what type of surrounding you'd like to sit in and go play there. Don't play NL at Wynn, there is no max buy-in and that can get pretty expensive if you're only buying in for $100. Whatever you do have some fun, if you are an adequate poker player you will make out just fine in Vegas, most of the lower limit games are very beatable as somebody has already mentioned. Good luck and have fun.
