The Double Barrel Bluff

Playing live 1/2 NL. I have close to $650 in front of me and up against a chinse guy that I have played against several times. We are down to a shorthanded game with 6 players. He has been frequently raising preflop and I have played tighter than I normally do this evening due to several aggressive players. He has about $180 left and raises tp $14 preflop. I am on the button and look down at KT offsuit and call. Flop come Q and two junk. He checks and I check. Turn is an Ace and he comes out firing a bet of $20. I think about and the fact that I'm playing tight and a big raise my get him of his hand if he don't have an Ace. So I pop the thing $60 and he quickly calls the $40. I miss my gut shot draw on the rive and am sitting with King high and he checks it to me. I had to give hime credit for having an Ace there and checked on the end. He ended up winning the show down with KJ. This one bugged me because any bet on the river would have won it for me. I mean shit what could he have called with the best draw was a gut shot straight draw.

that is disgusting to have to read, and i am not sure if you are askigna question at the end either. I thought maybe you are asking what he couldve called with besides an ace, and id like to help you out but when the flop is "Queen and two junk" its really tough to analyze.

The river is always tricky but players usually don't check the river with a good hand, bad players will sometimes c-raise the river with a monster hand.  He was probably going to call a 1/4 to half the pot size bet.  The problem is to find out or get him to fold you would have had to bet 3/4 or the pot on the river. 

 

You raised the turn and let him know you have the ace, I probably would have bet big on the river and continued my bluff.  Only a donkey would call a pot size bet on the river with 2nd best. 

that is exactly the type of player you want at your table...why would be draw to an inside straight basically getting one-to-one on his money and then not bluff on the river

 

and yes - you should have bet the river especially if you had position
