Texas hold'em rules

Hello folks.....I have a rules question to ask.

My buddy, who I'll refer to as lil'chilito played in a live hold'em sit and go last night (charity event not in Nevada), something happened during play, all hell broke loose, he was pissed, and asked me about the rule which I'm unclear about, so I'm presenting to my fellow covers players.

Here's the situation: 10 player sit and go and 5 players have been knocked out. One player in particular has a hugh chip lead (this is the person who caused the whole episode). small blind - 400, big blind 800.....dealer deals out all cards to players, third person folds, chip leader states he's going all in (out of turn as he is on the button), lil'chilito in 4th position has pocket aces and raises to 2000, chip leader folds followed by SB and BB both folding. Now here is where the issue arises.......lil'chilito believes he gets ripped off because chip leader made a verbal commitment out of turn and should be all in. The floor person was called and said the rule was something like this - If lil'chilito did not raise to 2000 the chipleader on the button would of been forced to call the all-in. Because lil'chilito raised the chipleader by rule could fold. Is this correct? I've been trying to find this rule but am not having any luck. If this is indeed a rule the person on the button has an extreme edge over players (even more than I thought) because he could talk players off a hand like A8 because the player holding those cards knows he'll be put all-in.

I guess my main view on this is the dealer needs to have control of the table which obviously he did not.

i thought when a player commits to all in even out of turn hes in, not sure about the raing 2000 part, i would go by what the pitboss says, but i usually play in atlantic city i know what there talking about,there cause they are qualified. im not sure if your guy knew what he was talking about, cause were was it in the back of a restaurent or something?

The player on the button is not committed to going all in, in this instance.  The floorperson made the correct ruling.  That doesn't mean that the button is not a douche though.  He most likely is.

from your description it seems the floor is correct.   people act out of turn all the time due to not paying attention. the spot where this happens most is the button or under the gun. verbally saying you are all in does not guarantee it. many factors have to happen for the button who acts 2spots out of turn to be forced to be all in.   if he says all in and pushes chips forward and no one hears/sees him, then he has right to pull chips back if he catches his mistake being out of turn.  if he says all in just as player before him is making a bet, then it would stand as all in. however if he announces all in then player before him bets the 2k, he must have had hands on chips or have chips in motion (mainly pushing forward)

it depends on the places' rules and the floorman , you can have all kinds of different rulings depending on where you  are at. Your buddy should have just called and let the douche go all in. He is likely an angle shooter and he would most likely get a warning rather than be forced to puch all in. The floor could tell him next time if he acts out of turn then it is binding no matter what...

Remember that situation at the WSOP where the guy started to make a bet and then pulled his chips back.  It's the act of putting in the chips I believe that seals your play.  If the guy never moved any chips in, then he's not liable for the bet, I believe.

The all in bet is voided because the action has changed. That is the rule in many casinos. If action had not changes ( no one raised) he would be committed.

Floorman was right.  If you check then he is forced to go all in, if you bet it changes the action.  That is why it is always good to ask the dealer or call the floor to explain your options BEFORE you do anything.

what i want to know is why is your friend did not insta call his all in with aces?

because the guy who stated he was all-in said it out of turn and was the bettor after my buddy.

Again guys thanks for the info. I played 2 weeks ago (it was raining out so there was nothing to do) and a similar situation occured where a drunk guy was saying he was going all-in out of turn. I had AK diamonds and just called the action. When it came to the drunk guy he folded but I had the dealer call the floor for the rule interpretation. Anyway he had to risk all his chips and I called him. What really sucked was he ended up catching trips and I ended up with AK high. Sometimes it doesn't pay to know all the rules.
